You can get a version of Dreamfall that has the first game bundled with it. It's an excellent game that should be played anyway, and not just to make a bit more sense of the apparently inferior sequel. I'd recommend that you play them in order anyway, as I'd imagine the attachment you develop with April (which you WILL develop, imo she is one of the most relatable characters in videogame history) would make her role in the sequel even more meaningful to you. Be warned that the company take a very long time to make sequels, so you'll be waiting quite a while for the storyline's conclusion. I haven't played Dreamfall yet, but The Longest Journey was an utterly sublime game, certainly my favourite out of the few p&click games I've played. The Shade said:I haven't played the prequel. Does that matter?
Suprised nobody's mentioned Gabriel Knight yet, as that's a series that tends to be very well regarded. Haven't played it myself, I'm quite a newcomer to the old adventure game scene.
No Broken Sword fans here either? I really enjoyed the first two (the only ones I have played). Very entertaining, globe-trotting games; and you pick up bits of historical trivia in the process.
I liked the original Monkey Island, and while I'm interested in playing the other games I haven't played yet, I'm more interested in what Tell-Tale will be able to do with the franchise. I loved their take on Sam&Max so it'll be interesting to see what they can do with the involvement of some of the old Lucasarts team.
I feel a bit out of place in this thread, as I don't think my three years of exposure to the genre really allows me to count as 'reminiscing' about the games I've played, no matter how old they are.
