"That He allows evil and free will to have their way in tragedies like this is a mystery in many ways."

I feel for the people in the congregation, it must have been terrifying, Id bet there were women and children there too.
I mean yeah, I would be scared and terrified too. I also feel sorry for those people, who saw a man they had known for a very long time get shot during a sermon. But it wont be long before someone puts some bullshit spin on it in favor of their religion. That's what these stories bring about, and that's what pisses me off. I feel sorry for the people who had to go through that event, for it most of been horrible. I have nothing against the people.

i think that any thick book with enough mass and high density would have had the same effect. but at least nothing that actually benefited society was damaged, just a crazy man and his book of gargage.

Way to be a total jerk. keep your careless opinions to yourself next time, please.

Reported.

So because this man is a preacher, you automatically toss his life away because he believes a "book of garbage"?

Learn some tolerance man, if you're so cruel as to say it was find that this man died because of what he believes in, then I hope the banhammer goes down quick and swift to you.

Heh, it's only a 'mystery' to fairy tale believers, 'Reasonist's on the hand have a perfect grasp of the situation.

If you were one of the people that gut hurt, wouldn't you be pissed at the preacher AND God...did you REALLY deserve knife wounds praying to God in His own house?

To quote Full metal Jacket: Didn;t momm and daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?

Learn some respect for people, man. You're coming across as crude and uncivil.

A bible is always good bullet protection, especially when the cover is made of kevlar with steel plates beneath it...
that reminds of a story I either heard or saw, can't remember where for the life of me, oh wait it was some comedian or another during the standup showdown, but basically, this guy had a bible under his shirt, and was shot, and the bible actually took the bullet and saved his life.
Well there are lot's of stories about bibles, and even regular books catching bullets. Some are true, some are myths
yeah true, and since it was a comedian, I am somewhat skeptical of its believability.

They're busy being amazed at the fact that a book absorbed bullets. I mean, who'd have thunk it?
Bibles are REALLY thick, and priests probbly have some fancy ones with hard covering and extra pages with comments.

I was being sarcastic, actually. They were all like, "OH MY GOD IT MUST BE GOD PROTECTING HIM," instead of "Oh hey bullets can't get through a really thick hardcover book."

Agreed...what?

I'm pretty happy no one caught that bad joke. gives me the chance to revive a thread that's otherwise dead.

But the fact is the priest still died so much for his gods protection. But honestly I'd blame the churchgoers for his death, did they seriously just sit there watching the gunman shoot rounds into him. If they'd stopped him before the fifth shot they might have saved the poor guy
