So if you admit that Watchdogs review had no reflection at all on reality, what is your point?
And congratulations on being pedantic, I mistyped, must be the end of the world...
Sony are charging people to repair the consoles. If average Joe wasn't a retard, they would know that Sony are in their legal right to do this, as it's the store which sold the PS3 that are legally obliged to replace it/repair it free of charge. Amazing how Watchdog didn't point this out isn't it...
So know that you know this, what is your point?
I suppose my point is this:

1. Regardless of what system you buy, you will get it replaced for free if it fails, making the PS3's failure rate supremacy a moot point.
2. Watchdog's sampling has no reflection on reality, just like game informer's survey, so stop mentioning "54.2%" when it clearly means dick all.
3. I wouldn't be surprised if you mis-typed considering how little you type outside of CTRL+C or CTRL+V, but I am more inclined to believe you miscalculated, based on your flagrant abuse of other statistics.

End of the day, the RROD problem has done NOTHING to stop 360 from being more popular than the PS3.

I don't see why alot of people keeps taking up the RRoD and says that the 360 is "PS3/Wii fanboy words". But now if the PS3 has it own i guess people is going to see less of those "words".

Sony's Yellow Light of Death and Microsoft's Red Ring of Death should both be lifetime warranties.

I'll ignore you pathetic personal attack that's point 3, and get down to the point.
Okay now that we have this covered, what has any of your point's got to do with the topic at hand?
Oh wait, didn't you originally say:
"With Sony's little yellow light it's a total crap shoot as to whether or not it's going to cost you to repair it"
Not to metnion this shocking peice of 360 advertising, which was just blatant flame baiting:

"I'll be the first one to say that Sony's console is more reliable than the 360, but PS3 fanboys have been playing it up by stating that 360 failure rates are "54%" or some equally ludicrous figure, when in reality it's closer to the 20-35% range and only on 1st and 2nd generation consoles.

So, naturally, when news like this comes out, that PS3's actually do fail, (and I mean, fail, just as completely as the 360 fails, just not nearly as often) then I like to point it out to said PS3 fanboys that their system is not the gift from god they claim it to be.

Also, I will come to the defense of Microsoft since I've had 2 RROD's, have had them both replaced for free, and have never been without my system for more than a week. And, if you can't go without a system for more than a week, god help you. I recently upgraded to an Elite by my own choosing because I got a good deal and was able to sell my old one.

So long as MS keeps pumping out the games I want to play, I'll keep getting 360's, it's that simple."

Mate, take your 360 fanboy attitude somewhere else. This is a topic talking about the apparent PS3 yellow light of death brought up by the BBC program Watchdog. Looking through Watchdog's report, it clearly is an unbiased piece of sensationalist bullsh*t. The only way you started an argument was by bringing in the 360 etc.
So now that you've lost the argument you're going to call me a fanboy (something I've freely admitted to anyhow) and say we should never have argued in the first place? Sour grapes?

My point all along has been that the Watchdog report was bullsh*t and that a one year warranty is fine. Which I've backed up.
What the hell is your point?
My point all along was that the Game Informer survey was bullshit and that Microsoft now has a better warranty than Sony. I'm surprised you didn't get that since I mentioned it numerous times.

So your point about a investigation by the BBC on the PS3 "Yellow Light of Death" is something to do with the a survey to do with the 360's failure rate?
Seriously, just get out of here for good. You smell of fire and trolling. And that's being charitable. You blatantly came here to argue with anyone who brought up the 360's failure rate instead of dealing with the actual thread topic. Go back to youtube or wherever you came from please.
No, as you had already posted my original point was that the PS3 is not perfect and it fails too, and that MS owns up to it's problem while Sony says "our problem is small and within industry standards, so fuck you, give us $128 for it".

Sony's not doing anything illegal, they're just being pricks.

Fortunately your narrow-minded view of my opinion and your constant buzz-word usage to describe my posting does not accurately or fairly describe the content of my posts. As such, I will retain my account and continue to make logical, valid arguments on a variety of topics here on the Escapist.

However, if you don't like it you have several options:

1. Ignore me like a normal adult would.
2. Leave the Escapist.
3. Report me, which I'm sure you've already done and the moderators have already unsubstantiated your claims.

Hmm, it seems like the fault only affects a few consoles and can be overlooked.

I would say that is is bad that you have to pay, but then again whereas some people take good care of their consoles, a very small minoroty do things like put books on top, get crumbs in it, kick it out of frustration, pour coffee all over it, use it as a door stop or play on it for three days straight e.t.c. e.t.c. then wonder why it breaks.

Apologies to those who took very good care of their consoles and had it break of course. Sometimes, these things just happen, or sometimes a techinical fault can occur affecting a small minority, or majority. On case of a technical fault, I think the company should replace the console free of charge. In the case that you bashed it about a bit, it is really your own fault.

It seems that replacing a broken PS3 for free is just a matter of negotiation anyway.

The fact of the matter in this thread is that a few butt hurt 360 fanboys are desperately trying to make Sony and the PS3 look bad at any cost. So Microsoft screwed up. That is all on them. But trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill about the issues of the "Yellow Light of Death" on the PS3 is just out right pathetic. But no matter what anyone says the 360 fanboys will scream at the top of their lungs "SEE?!!! SONY SCREWED UP TOO!!!!!!!". It is just all so damn lame.

Can you please show me the users that have said the PS3 is perfect. Every piece of electronic equipment, from a camcorder to the PS3, has a failure rate.
As I have said, if a persons PS3 breaks due to hardware failure, the retailer has to, by law, replace it. How does this make Sony pricks? Surely it just makes the owner oblivious more than anything.

And I'm hoping you'll grow up. Like hell I'd leave a site I've been on for years because of a self admitted fanboy. Need I point out that being a fanboy means your path of thought is immature, irrational and illogical by definition?
Actually, the retailer does NOT have to replace an object that is out of warranty and breaks, meaning the length of the warranty is more important. Since Microsoft's is 3 years and Sony's is 1, that is a win for Microsoft. And, as for their failure rate, I believe that someone else said "until Sony gets sued over it's failing systems they shouldn't have to change the warranty", well, http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/95243-Sony-Sued-Over-PS3-Destroying-Firmware-3-0.

So, go ahead, defend your precious system, but it's still no better than the 360 in my opinion.

Eh, 'Yellow light of Death' doesn't have the same ring to it as 'Red Ring of Death'.
I heard it called 'Yellow Light of Doom' which I think I prefer. Not that I want one. My BC PS3 wouldn't like that...
Now that sounds good. At least it doesn't sound like a bad attempt to mimic the RROD.
I do think it sounds more ominous and it more accurately describes the issue which isn't always death
You do know that YYoD is something that was made up on t'internet not by sony right?
Yes. I didn't suggest it was a press release.

Wow. I didn't even know the PS3 had an equivalent of the Red Ring Of Death. The way Sony treats their customers in response to this is just sad, though. I'm glad I have a 360.
Yeah, the PS3 crash rate is like...7%, and the 360 was 50% and going down.

What was weird was my 360 didn't RR when it died. -Facepalm- So I wonder what counts on each system.

i think a big problem with the PS3 is possibly how many different versions there are. think about it, there's the 40GB, 60GB, 80GB, 120GB, 60GB (with BC), 80GB (with BC [what i have, woo!]), 120GB (with BC), and then there's the slims! they're all made slightly different from each other. there's bound to be a big failure of the group and making new firmware to accomidate each one must be a real pain.

Sounds worse than the Red Ring of Death, costs more money to repair it, too. Also has a warranty that is half as short as Xbox's.

Don't worry though, my Xbox f-ed up two days ago, getting it repaired for fifty dollars at a shop.
