Well then i must say congrats on wasting all the money you dumped into the system. Have fun I guess not playing something you paid for...the gaming world needs more ppl like you. Fans who just turn there back on a company or brand because they get bored. Have fun.. idk playing something else i suppose. End this garbage thread please. Nothing good can come of this.

The thing that ensured that I wouldn't be buying a PS3 was when they killed backwards compatibility. I never owned a PS2 and missed out on all the great games that came out for it. There are more games out for the PS2 that appeal to me than the PS3. I might get a PS2 at some point in the foreseeable future, but a PS3 is right out.

I ended up buying Fallout 3 for the PC of all things and the graphics are BETTER?
You found this surprising? Gaming PCs have better graphics than consoles. Always have, always will.
NOT Always.

There are some people (myself included, up until a month ago) who can't afford a decent gaming rig with good graphics.

A console version of a game is perfect for these people. With a PC, it's touch-and-go with your settings. "Will my graphics card support this?", "How far can this go before I get framedrop?", "What's making it crash?!".

Every console is exactly the same, so nobody will have those problems, and they get a decent game with decent graphics and a decent framerate upkeep.
There's no need to get defensive; I'm not trying to say that PCs are better, just that they have the capability of better graphics. Yes there are problems with PC gaming such as the ones you outlined above, especially when dealing with Windows.
I'm even considering getting a console myself since my graphics card died, and I'd have to buy a new graphics card, new power supply to support it, and a cooling system for it in order to continue gaming with my PC. It'd probably be cheaper to get a console.

i'll admit, it had a [very] slow start
but it's got some good things to look forward to, like god of war 3 or final fantasy XIII versus [not just ffXIII with a versus mode but a seperate game ps3 exclusive]

that's bound to make it pick up speed surely at least a little?

I bought a PS3 and thought the variety and games were great... Though on second thoughts this WAS after I'd been suffering with a Wii for nearly two years and the pretty graphics are begginning to show behind them that all PS3 has are mainly shooters.

So, your point is "PS3 has died" because you can play a game that looks better on the PC?

If that is you case, come back in a couple of years... you know, when newly released games are available for the PS3 and the 360, and you need a new video card and a couple extra GB of RAM to run it properly.

The reason why I stop caring about PC gaming and get more into consoles is because I grew tired of changing my processor, video card, motherboard, hard drive, etc, etc, etc every couple years...
He'll be needing a couple of extra RAM GBs and maybe a new video card to run them in very high... you'll be buying a new console, what's the difference?

I bought a PS2 and it lasted for years of "current" generation games, I bought a PS3 and its been 2 years of "current" generation games (and it will hopefully last a few more). I bought a gaming PC and had to consider an upgrade 6 months later...

Sorry if I couldn't afford to have a 3.000 bucks PC back in the day. If that happened and then I had to consider 500 bucks more to buy a new video card, and a new power source because it needs more power, or more memory with a new, shinny technology, or a new motherboard because the new technology is not compatible and the old technology is out of production... yeah, that would suck.

...back in the day? 3000$ for a pc? dude, in what time lapse and place did you live in?
I live in South America where everything is overpriced, and yet I've never heard of someone having to spend 3000$ for a gaming pc.

I live in South America too, and by the time I decided PC gaming was far too pricey to be a good option (around the time the PS2 became dominant around here), a new video card could be about 500 dollars, the same with a flat screen. Half a GB of RAM was near 100 dollars and you can guess how much CPU and motherboard would cost. By the time you had everything you need, a very good PC would be above 2000 easily, and it would be obsolete in less than a year.

I know prices are not the same now (not even here), but I don't regret quiting PC gaming in favor of console gaming. Some genres are not the same on consoles, like FPS or RTS; but I am willing to forget it because adventure games, fighting games, RPG and sports games are far better on a console. So, until Starcraft II (or something equally significant) comes out, I won't care about minimum requirements and the latest directX version...
