Yuyuko waved to Vanessa in reply, then turned back to Youmu. "What do you think?" she asked. "I said it'd be a shame to leave so early, but on the other hand--"

"No," Youmu cut her off. "We're far enough away from home as it is. We don't need to be getting involved in the affairs of other worlds. Believe me, I tried it once, and it never stopped coming back to haunt me.[footnote]This is a reference to about six appearances in 'The Escapist Avatar Adventure'.[/footnote] Besides, we haven't even gotten our drinks yet."

Yuyuko considered her servant for a moment, then relented. "I guess you're right," she sighed. "But it depends how long it takes before we head out..." She started to zone out, and Youmu didn't bother trying to pull her mistress back, knowing from experience she wouldn't get anywhere. The two simply fell back into their seats and waited for the sake.

Hiding her disappointment at the lack of response to her proposal, Vanessa sighed a small bit to herself. [color=666666] ...It looks like I'm going to end up doing this alone... [/color] Hearing the spirit and her servant's responses, the woman nodded. [color=666666] "Ah, I can understand that... If it's alright with you, may I ask about the time you tried to step into the affairs of other worlds? I've had an experience somewhat similar to that..." [/color]

She gave a small glance toward Ana, her eyes basically screaming "A little help here, please?!".

Youmu sighed and turned to Vanessa. "What's to tell? I doubt you know any of them, but there was this group of people. They seemed to change members a lot, but they always seemed to have something about them in common... I kept getting involved with them by accident, and they always seemed to have some new adventure every time, whether it was racing cars or saving the world from a madman named Rugal." She shrugged and turned back to Yuyuko. "I'm not sure why, but I stopped being pulled into their world a couple of years ago. This is the first relapse I've ever had..." She looked around for a bit before adding, "and I don't see anyone I know here, so I doubt it's related."

She shook her head slowly and fell back into the chair. "What about you? What's your story?"

[color=666666] "Somewhat similar, you could say..." [/color] Vanessa said, resting her elbows on the bar counter as she spoke. [color=666666] "But the only real difference was that I got into the newer dimensions looking for trouble... more or less... And boy, did I get it..." [/color] She sighed a small bit. [color=666666] "What I thought was going to be a vacation to some distant, uncharted planet ended up being me joining a group of people and getting dragged into a war between magic wielder and technological savants." [/color]

[color=666666] I managed to meet someone there.... and they ended up becoming someone very special to me... but that was mainly outweighed by... uh...." [/color] She sighed and looked to the floor, two faint circles of pink coloring her otherwise pale looking face, before looking back up to Youmu. [color=666666] "...Do you... by any chance... believe in the supernatural? ...Ghosts, vampires and the like?" [/color]

Youmu jerked her head at Yuyuko and told Vanessa, "I work for a ghost, and I've met more than a few supernatural creatures besides. Not even on those adventures I mentioned; the world I come from is a haven for non-humans. I don't know if you've ever heard of Gensokyo, but you could say that we live there."

"She's actually not entirely human herself, you know," Yuyuko added. "Half-phantom. Not half-ghost, she's--"

"I don't think she's interested in that part, Yuyuko-sama. Besides, it really doesn't matter."

"If you say so."

"Anyway, there's a lot of creatures living there. Mostly youkai, but also fairies, gods, vampires... We even have a few of the moon tribe. So, yeah, I'd say I believe in it. I don't have much of a choice."

[color=666666] "Interesting..." [/color] Vanessa replied, putting one hand to her chin as she listened intently. [color=666666] "I can't say I've ever heard of your world before, but I'll admit that that description makes me interested to see it. My world has a bit of the supernatural... that I've seen at least. I'm actually co-workers with a demon and a... a.. um..." [/color] She tilted her head a bit as she thought the name over before snapping her fingers. [color=666666] "Ah! A kitsune! But the main reason I asked is because I'm a ghost myself... I ended up dying in that dimension I had found myself in, and yet, here I am, still moving around." [/color] She chuckled a bit despite herself before looking toward the ghostly duo.

[color=666666] "However, I never would have guessed the two of you were ghosts... nor have I heard of someone only being half-ghost." [/color] She said next, her eyes calculating a small bit. [color=666666] "So I actually am a little curious as to what that would entail..." [/color] The woman's icy blue eyes zeroed in on Youmu as she said this.

Ana smiled at the both of them. "Im sure any experience you can provide will be much appreciated. I am not sure what we will find when we get there, and I would much rather be prepared for anything than assume."

Nicolaus Kin finally made it around to Knifes table. "Fresh spot of grandpas cough medicine for you."
He set the whiskey down on the table. This whole barkeep thing was surprisingly tough. He knew he was getting old but damn. Kin found himself slightly amused. He had conducted multi-faceted paramilitary operations in dozens of countries, mastered 12 different languages, come face to face with the supernatural in many different forms and done just about everything in between there was to do (four hundred years is too long a time to let oneself get bored) but he had never tried a hand are bar tending. He smiled. This was a new challenge for him, something he had never thought of. At the very thought of a new challenge he became enthused and excited.

Yuyuko leaned back slightly to allow Youmu and Vanessa to talk more easily. Under Vanessa's stare, and suddenly realising she was a ghost, Youmu started to cringe slightly. "There's a difference between ghosts and phantoms," she started. "It's possible for one death to create multiple phantoms, and they don't retain a lot of their life. They can also sometimes come from seemingly nowhere," and at this, she placed a hand over her own chest. "My entire line was like this. Though, the phantom is separate and this body is entirely corporeal." Her phantom half started trembling the way Youmu's human body was.

"I'm not sure if that's how it works in your world, but that's really the best explanation I can give you. I don't entirely understand it myself."

Vanessa nodded a bit, her stare lessening in intensity as she noticed Youmu cringing. She leaned back a bit more. [color=666666] ....Woops... Think I overdid it there... [/color] Listening to the explanation and seeing the different halves of Youmu quiver, she nodded, though her face was still a bit scrunched up in thought. [color=666666] "To be honest, being a ghost is a new experience to me... so I'm not really sure how things work either. I'm still corporeal, so perhaps we're similar in that regard. But would the case of multiple phantoms being created at the time of one's death be linked to something? ...Like the strength of the person, for example?" [/color] She asked next, before hearing a small voice in her head.

[color=ff4599] Heeeeeey, The barkeep ya almost fell in love with is callin' for ya. [/color]

Suppressing a sigh at the voice's jeers, Vanessa turned to Ana and nodded. [color=666666] "Right... I'm prepared to go out and about as it is... but I'm not really sure about the procedure to head out into the area..." [/color] She tapped her belt for a moment, seeming to check something before nodding to herself. [color=666666] "...Yes.. All set..." [/color]

After finishing serving drinks, Ana pulled Nic aside. They started to converse in hushed tones away from the group.
"Think this is going anywhere?" Ana asked.
Nic didn't approve.
"Love, we said we were out."
"But, I guess I just wanna know what we are sitting on."
He gave a long sigh.
"I don't want you to get hurt."
"I know."
"I love you."
"I know."
She smiled.
"When you get back, you know what I want?"
He looked at her with a grin.
"What?"
"I want you to free up an evening."
"Yeah?"
"We will put on some good music... maybe get a bottle of wine..."
"Oh yeah?"
"And find something comfortable.."
They looked into each others eyes. She finished his sentence.
"... And not wear it."
"Don't you dare..."
She gave him a peck on the cheek.
Nic chuckled.
"Square deal."

Youmu shook her head at Vanessa's question. "I don't know a lot about how undeath works. I've never really had to, before. I don't know anything about this. But..." She trailed off just as a bottle of sake and two cups landed on their table. She exhaled quickly and said, "I needed this like you wouldn't believe."

"I thought you didn't like drinking, Youmu?" Yuyuko asked. "Why the sudden enthusiasm?"

"Sometimes, what I like doesn't matter. I'm in another dimension with people from uncountable other dimensions, and the noise is unbearable. I don't care much for the taste, but I need something to take the edge off."

"I think I heard someone mention some kind of training room downstairs. You could practice your swordplay for a bit. That might help."

Youmu downed her first cup of sake in a single draught, then exhaled again as it burned the back of her throat despite being ice-cold. "You sure about that?" she worked through, exerting the words. "Maybe..."

Vanessa nodded a bit, now moved all the way back and stretching her arms out over her head. [color=666666] "I see... Sorry to keep prodding you over things like this then." I guess I'll just have to find this Gensokyo myself to learn the answer to that... [/color] Seeing Youmu hit the sake hard and the suggestion to hit the training room up, the fedora girl nodded along. [color=666666] "That may end up working out well... There are plenty of dummies and the like for you to beat on down there. They're not in the best shape however..." [/color] Seeing Ana and Nic talking off to the side, she turned back to the ghostly duo and smiled. [color=666666] "I'd offer to spar along with you, but I'm going to go off to see what lies where that mark on the map is shortly. Maybe I can show you the way to the room at least..." [/color]

Ana and Nic concluded their conversation with a nod.
Ana turned to the group assembled in the pub.
"So, who is in? We are gonna leave in fifteen."

I follow Clade over to the booth and sits down as a waitress comes over and asks if we want anything to drink "Whiskery please bring a bottle, now what is it that has probably just became a little bit more different?" I said as the waitress came back with my drink and bottle she then turns to Clade "and for you?" she said

Vanessa waved her hand toward Ana, leaning against the bar counter as she did. [color=666666] "+1 right here~!" [/color] She said in a singsong voice.

Seeing yet another new arrival walk in, the woman gave her a small wave as well. Tilting her head at the girl's request, she thought for a moment before pulling out her PDA. [color=666666] "It's not really a mirror, but it's adequate enough, I'd hope." [/color] She held it out in front of the girl, the camera in front playing back the reflection of the new arrival on the small PDA screen.

[color=666666] "As for the question of where you are, you're in an interdimensional pub of some sort. ...I'm not exactly sure about the details myself, but the drinks are free, so it can't be too bad." [/color] The woman said, chuckling a bit at the end of her statement.

[color=666666] ...She wasn't aware of those features of hers...? Odd... [/color] Vanessa thought as the girl mused to herself. She blinked as she noticed the pointy eared girls golden hair and blinked twice in disbelief.

[color=ff4599] Heeeey, maybe you could shear some hair off of her and sell it? You'd probably make a fortune~! [/color] The voice in her head teased as Vanessa let out an audible sigh at it.

Shaking off the initial state of wonder, the fedora girl nodded as she tried to take her device back to demonstrate. [color=666666] "Well... it's not really magic... But simply put, there's a little eye on the front of the device that makes a picture of how you look, it sends that picture to the screen and the screen simply shows it back to you." [/color] She explained, hoping she'd kept low tech enough for the girl to understand.

As the note was passed, the scientist then looked it over a few times and tilted her head 45 degree to the right, no more, no less. [color=666666] ...I guess this explains her confusion about her appearance... [/color] Head still tilted, she looked up to the woman, straight in the eyes. [color=666666] "Sorry, but I'm just as confused as you must be... Do you remember what happened to you for this to have been written...?" [/color]

I will get this story arc started tomorrow. It wont be terribly long, however if anyone wants to jump in and doesn't feel like they have an easy way to get involved at this short of notice, we can think of something. Also I would really like this thread to get up and running for the long run. Towards that end I would like two things. One is a Co- GM and two I will be interested in anybody who has a story arc they would like to put out on this thread.

The order for a hard whiskey was given and the drink eventually came, 'cause everyone is alright with Ace, that great old son-of-a-gun. He takes a prolonged drink, thumps the bottle down with gusto and a satisfying "Ahhh!", and then regards his fellow bar patron and old war buddy.

"I tell ya, Knife, I could use you in this scrape when I get the new plan underway. Once I figure out what it is - and it'll be a whiz-banger, steady on - we can nail that monster fer good faster than you can say 'Smoke me a kipper'."
