since i'm in that kinda mood now I'll expand on my early post.

the follow my or my not be timeless classics, but they are on my MP3 player, so i listen to them the most. which means a hell of a lot more far as I'm concerned then it just being good, also, there's no order to this list.

what can i say. i love the Guilty Gear sound track

No More Heroes ;) another OST made of win

the lone Okami track, and i shouldn't need to explain why its here

the remix, because it's even more awesome in heavy metal

the mgs 3 snake eater theme, instantly takes all places for casually yet overtly being played during the worlds longest ladder
The Ladder - Quite clearly the most difficult boss in video game history.

I take it you haven't played Shadow Of The Colossus and Total Annihilation. Sorry, I can't take your list seriously when you don't put strong melody's in and say 'real'.

I do appreciate it though, I always look through it all to see if I'm missing something.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSrV5--cua8 - Still the most powerful melody I've heard from a game.

I dont get it, out of ten songs , Baldurs gate intro in particular or arcanum you still think they are not powerful enough?

Not going to bother to link songs, but in my entire life, I've purchased three game soundtracks (that didn't come as part of the package with a CE). Final Fantasy X, Ocarina of Time, and Katamari Damacy. I'd also offer GitarooMan and Bust-A-Groove as having awesome soundtracks, which I would gladly buy if I could find them.

9. Modern Warfare 2 (best part of the game IMO. Hans Zimmer did a fine job)
No matter how much I bash the COD games, I will gleefully agree to say that MW2 had quite a good soundtrack.

OT: Not exactly a list but

I very much like Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. Pretty much the only music I listened to in my youth.

Yes and the Mass Effect series has also made my ears sweat.

And if this was actually in a game, it would be my favourite song. (I don't know why no game devs hire Two Steps From Hell to do there music (yes, I very much like epic music)).

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's music was done by Amon Tobin, one of my favorite DJs, and it's excellent.

I also liked the Quake 1 soundtrack by Trent Reznor, and I really liked the Doom 64 soundtrack. I preferred the creepy ambience in that one over the heavy metal MIDIs in Doom 1 and 2.

Huh, for some reason I wasn't notified.

They're good, but having a whole orchestra make something sound epic doesn't improve the power of the melody.

Amiga! So many great memories! I still have Shadow of The Beast in my mind. Amazing! I'd also add Lemmings fun soundtrack and Bloodmoney intro and soundtrack.

Personally OP, you seem to be taking this list way too seriously. That first comment, really? ALl he's saying that your list should have some Chrono in it. Nothing else. It wasn't trolling, it was his opinion and a joke. He's not actually stating your list is invalid. You have your own opinion, he's just giving his.

Anyway, I haven't played all that many games, but I'll give some soundtracks I really love.

Not in any order:

There are a bunch more, but they just aren't springing to mind at the moment, probably haven't played them in a while. I might add to the list later when I have more time.

I'll throw a few out there:

The Deus Ex UNACTO theme. The whole game is full of epic music but this one I think is just the best.

My favourite from Majora's Mask

And I love this track from Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. So atmospheric and intense. Love it.

And finally my personal favourite from all the wonderful music in the Fallout series:
