The reason why Xbox live should never be free!

Funny thing about your whole internet argument.

PSN works better with my internet than xbox live. I can get into a 24-player Killzone 2 game and get no lag, while an 8 player game of Halo 3 lags every 2 minuts.
And free or not, xbox live has, is, and always will be full of jerks and prepubescent boys shouting racist remarks.

I'm sorry but OP, your post is basically saying only poor people and people with bad internet connections play PSN, which is not true at all, I have plenty of poor friends, and I have a crappy connection, and I play xbox live.

And xbox live is worth paying for, despite everything, it is better than PSN, and has a lot more support because its a service you have to pay for.

also, in todays economy where everyone is trying to save money, its kind of hard to label people as cheap, especially if they just got laid off, which is happening more often as time goes on.

Money had nothing to do with it...I play xbl. psn, and pc. And still the majority or ummm immature conduct is on xbl in my experience. It's simple really. The more microphones you have...the greater your chance of d-baggery.

I'm not poking fun at poor people I'm just saying if you can't pay the fee then don't get XBL and if you have a bad internet connection and play on the PSN your probably the reason I made this thread.
I was taking you seriously until that point. Fanboy. Who said the people who don't get XBL can't pay for it? I could certainly pay for it, but I wouldn't. I'll take decent online for free over good online for a price any day.

Usually, the most annoying people to play with are not the poor, but rather the spoiled. Everyone knows a rich kid who has been given everything he ever wanted, and how stuck-up and annoying these kids usually are. However, almost all the "poor" kids I know are kind and respectful. If paying for xbox live is indeed keeping the poor out, then that is the reason that we have such a concentration of stupid, annoying kids. If it was provided as a free service, all the annoying players would still be there, but they would hopefully be distilled by respectable players. Similar services are provided free, and there is no doubt microsoft isn't making enough money. However, some kind of bandwidth requirement should be enforced.

Interesting idea. I figured out the same thing back when I rented apartments. I once had a really nice place that I rented for very little money. It seemed great until I moved in and was surrounded by loud music, wife beaters, and drug dealers. As my career progressed I moved into higher rent apartments that weren't much better on the inside. The big difference was the upgraded neighbors.

It sounds like someone has never played on live before, or is feeling the need to defend their payment for some reason.

I've not resubscribed or bothered with anything at all on my xbox for about 9 months, on account of the online community being so incredibly shit. If I wanted to deal with spoilt little kids who get upset when they can't have the vehicle they want, I'd go and help out at a nursery.

I've never come across anything that bad on any online PC games, and all of them were free to play online.

Then again all of this is personal opinion and experience, and I'm a bit of a PC fanboy myself - so I'm probably being biased here.

XBL is p2p because Microsoft don't want to charge the developers of the online fee.

And there is nothing classy or luxurious about XBL. I just don't want to pay 500$ a year for a service that should be free.

Yeah, that is a good point. Paying for Live limits the amount of traffic and can also provide higher quality of the servers.
What servers? Almost every game you play is peer-to-peer. The game servers only track stats.
