I had a TERRIBLE experience with EA Download Manager, and now I will never buy another digital game from anywhere other than Steam ever again.
You too, 'eh?

Yeah, I was screwed by EA's download manager too. I bought a game, legally, and downloaded it to my crummy laptop. Once that became obsolite and I built the Stammputer for gaming, I went to download it so I could play it on a platform that could actually run it... and it wasn't there anymore. Called EA, who said you can only download the game once. WHAT?! Screw you, EA.

Steam sales are dirt cheap AND a bigger portion of the price goes to guys who funded the game, compared to retail. So buy on steam (when there's a special sale).

You don't own the games on Steam as such, but the same is true for retail games and sometimes this is also enforced by DRM on retail copies, so that makes no difference.
What does make a difference is that you can DL your Steam games whenever you want. Scratch or misplace a game disk and your retail game is gone. Steam will always be there.

While that is annoying, My PC is firmly rooted in my room. I doubt ill have that issue.

Also steam is legally bound to do that since distributors in different regions have different rights to sell content. This isnt something exclusive to steam. Maybe you could contact steam and see if they will switch the regions for you.

This is why you go console!
Where games in the digital store are more expensive than those in the retail ones! Also, plenty of consoles and console games are region locked.
So then it will be just like steam where you can buy a physical copy ofr less, or a digital one off them for more. Ok I will admit that extremely old games that you cant find in stores anymore can sometimes be cheaper on steam.

The only problem with the digital stores on consoles is that they dont really drop the prices over time. Im not really sure why but they generally just leave the game and the same price they put it up on, which at the time is always the same as the retail one.
They're normally about £5 cheaper for me, and they have sales every opportunity they get.

The Witcher was $10. I bought the frick out of it.
No bearing on the topic, but look at your post number, one more to go.
I actually have no idea what my post count is. I don't really pay attention to it. However, I will clarify my post.

I have had no problems with Steam. I like it, and will buy games from it. The Witcher was $10. I was always wondering how good it was, so I bought it. Speaking of which, Steam also has fantastic deals. I wouldn't have gotten The Witcher had it been even $15.
NOOOO! I was talking about how you were one away from 1337, but now you're at 1338.
Oh. Well shoot. I guess I can't undo posts... unless...

I go back in time.

This is why I make all my digital distribution purchases through GOG or GamersGate.

Steam are about 10-40 dollars cheaper than retail for me.
