You perfer runescape?
Sorry what is this perfer you speak of?
Isn't runescape WOW without the fun and fees?
Excuse my offensiveness, but are you fucking stupid? RuneScape is not in any way WoW and it's been around before WoW even existed. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but in this case, yours is wrong.

I played WoW, I played Runescape and I prefer WoW to Runescape. WoW at least is a game, something that earns the name. Runescape had lots of boring quests, one as boring as the other, had graphics that were even worse than WoWs comic art and tons of skills that I didn't care about. Maybe you get into it after several hours of playing but I didn't want to spend more than two hours on a game like that. And if you really prefer RS because of the story, try LotRO. For me they simply have the best written and most coherent story of any MMO currently in the market PLUS the 1337 factor is near zero.

Well if you read all the posts before posting, as you are required to do, you would see I was asking a question. I have never played either.
You are excused though.
I just re-read the posts again and you are right. I apologise for my rude-ocity

How could you say it takes more time than WoW? WoW is such a big world, with so much to do. Have you not heard of WoW addiction?
You say WoW addiction as if it's a good thing.

Runescape isn't better than WoW and I haven't even played WoW. The quests can be completed very fast and the stories are boring.
I'd rather be killing, escorting, collecting, and delivering than doing the quests from RuneScape.
The graphics still aren't that good even with their HD, that I think you have to pay for. The community is just plain stupid. It's the worst community I've ever seen in an MMO (besides Endless Online with all the pedos).

1: fair enough
2: Those graphics still aren't as good as WOW.
3: So less of a need for skill is a good thing?
Less of a need for skill is a good thing is your not a full on Gamer.
I don't Game much on the PC anymore Runescape is the perfect mmo for me cause i don't need to gain a skill to be able to become decent at it.
Having graphics for runescape over wow is ridiculous. yeah they might be better than what they were when they started but so are wow, the fact that you are even comparing them to begin with is ludacris.

you are totally overlooking:

PvP
Economy
Community
talents
abilities
professions
auction houses
guilds
teamwork
expansions
patches

And there are many more points i could list but i just cant be bothered.

Your argument that there is no skill involved completely voids your argument that you can be a casual player and still be good. You have to spend all of your time getting your stats and gear up therefore the person who plays the most will win.

The fact that any character can max all skills is stupid. It takes away any individuality. Again the person that spends the most time playing getting all of their skills up will inevitably be the best.

I am a casual wow player, i log on to do 10 arenas a week and more of i feel like it, because of this i am gradually building up my glad gear which doesn't take up all of my life to get. I much prefer pvp to pve but now that there are end game 10 man raids a lot more casual players are experiencing end game content they wouldn't otherwise have had the oppurtunity. You can prefer to play pve, pvp or just level various characters as a casual player in wow and still be good at the game.

WoW is not a hardcore game.

I have no idea how anyone got that impression. Runescape is not more casual.
You are wrong. WoW can be both casual and hardcore, depending on the guild you are in and what its goals are. With the latest content patch and raid instance, Blizzard completely refined and fleshed out the concept of multiple difficulty levels on the same bosses. There is a normal mode of every boss, which is quite easy, and then most bosses also have hard modes, which are INSANELY HARD. If your guild's goal is to clear those (for extra loot, bragging rights or access to a new, locked ultra hard boss), then you are guaranteed to find all the challenge you ever wished for, and then some. I am in a guild that used to be on the world's top 5 in TBC (now we have gone a bit south), and I can tell you, I have never wiped so much in my life as I did in Ulduar.

PS. People are seriously comparing Runescape's graphics with WoW in this thread? Even going there tells me that you have actually never booted WoW's last expansion, if the game at all. Blizzard have added TONS of eyecandy in it and the later patches. Of course it becomes a slide show with maxed details during raiding on every computer in the world, but still.

Hmm I would be really interested in how the "less skill than wow" thing is actually possible. The last time I played WoW (about 2 month ago)it was so absurdly simple, it got me bored in a matter of minutes.

LOL I think the graphics for WOW are bad! My eyes started vomiting when I saw that screen shot.

And anyway, loads of WOW quests have storylines;

Retaking Lordaeron with the king for example... totally awesome!

But there are a lot of quests that are just boring repetition. If you want some real repetition however, eve online missions are the worst, if you do it for any length of time you will know which ones are your favourites.

I do feel sorry for Runescape however, the graphics really are a deal breaker for me, so even if it was a better game I would never know about it.

my runescape vs wow rant

I decided to do this because i noticed there are a lot of Escapists that hate Runescape.
before you wow fans start flaming I'm not saying that wow is a bad Game cause that would be
a lie it is a good Game i admit that.

1: The first reason i like Runescape is because of the quests. in Runescape each quest has its own little story line witch makes them a whole lot more enjoyable to do. In wow the quests are just the same thing over and over again just with different people, areas and monsters. The quests in wow are either Killing, Collecting, Delivery or Escort witch after about level 30 got extremely boring for me.

2: The second reason is graphics over the last few years Jagex has been doing things to improve Runescapes Graphics. with the release of Runescape HD the Graphics are now about three times better Graphics than what most runescape ranters think.I will post a link to HD version at bottom of the post.

3: my final reason for liking Runescape more than wow is that it is more designed for people who do not have a whole lot of time for Gaming.its simple and easy and takes no skill to play witch is helpful if you don't have the time to gain skill. In wow you have to be somewhat fast to be able to beat some monsters and player in battle most casual gamers are not this fast and wouldn't have the time to get into wow like a lot of kids do.

Runescape is not a bad Game just designed more for people without a lot of time on there hands.

wow is also not a bad Game but i just could not get into it because of it needing to much time.

I am not in agreement with you on the part RuneScape is for people without alot of time on their hands. If any thing you need lots of time on your hands if you want to do some thing worth it on RuneScape. The simple reason of this is because you got what? 20 different skills to level? out all of those many hours of constant grinding these skills and a lot of them being ridicules because of how boring it is to cut trees down and burn them for hours on end. For this game you need a whole lot of time if you want to enjoy the full of the game. All in all RuneScape is like all other MMOs you need a whole lot of time to further yourself in the video game.

Decent points, it's always nice to see people have opinions that are informed and well put together instead of hate-wagon bashing (like with Twilight...). However, to be honest I personally hate Runescape and WoW, and the only MMO I'd ever pay to play is probably Final Fantasy XI. Plus I'd possibly be tempted by EVE Online, but unless they make a Firefly MMO, that's it for me I'm afraid.

I liked RS few years back. Pking was fun with a couple of friends or a clan of 100+ people, but Jagex removing it killed the game completely for me.
<-This. I played alot but when they made all those changes (removeing the wilderness PvP, messing with the trade system, etc...)it was ruined for me. I no longer see the appeal in that game.

How long have you played runescape for? I played it for about a year, ages back and got bored of it eventually. It was a stage I went through and left. Those are all decent points you raised, apart from graphics. If the gameplay is no good then it doesn't matter how cool the graphics are. I still have more fun playing MUDs and tetris than I do some FPS shooters I have on the PC.

What were you playing with? Things do get more complex as you get to higher levels and class makes a fair difference: a death knight can do pretty well just mashing buttons, but a mutilate spec rogue trying to keep hunger for blood, slice and dice and a bleed effect on the target up is somewhat more challenging.

Its scary how much I agree with you.
Last year I played Runescape some and then I played wow.
Overall my thinking is what you think.
The best thing about RS imo is you get to buy new, cooler weapons and earn more gold as you level up.

The quests do mean so much more in RS to WoW.
