Wow, memories. I used to play runescape when it first came out. Only played it for a few months then got bored (hey I was little!).

gee, I wouldn't really play RS or WoW for their "story", when there are MMOs out there that are more story driven, like Guild Wars, or Final Fantasy 11(who's youtube videos for cutscenes and wiki mission walkthroughs actually have **SPOILER WARNING** tags on them.

xD, I suppose i'm kind of complaining without taking sides. @_@ Or taking sides against both, maybe...

I find it amusing that people who claim not to care are actually bothering to comment on it anyway, but aside from that you have to give Jagex credit, to pull off that kind of graphic overhaul on a game which runs on a java engine and in a browser.

Yes the graphics arent as great as WoW but then WoW graphics are stored on a Hard Drive and so they can be as detailed as developers like, to do that on a browsers would require a killer internet connection.

I liked RS few years back. Pking was fun with a couple of friends or a clan of 100+ people, but Jagex removing it killed the game completely for me.
<-This. I played alot but when they made all those changes (removeing the wilderness PvP, messing with the trade system, etc...)it was ruined for me. I no longer see the appeal in that game.
They definitely made it too 'safe'. With all the warnings PKing, then removing it, removing staking, removing profitable trading etc.

I dislike both these games, therefore I'm sort of screwed when it comes to commenting.

Therefore I will leave you with this. If too many under 15's play it, it's probally not that good.

this is the reason WoW wins.

People are actually having proper problems from it thats how effective at awesome it is....
That's also the reason crystal meth wins, dipshit.

Why can't you all just accept that some people like RS and some people like WoW and drop the whole fucking subject!? I like RS, but I'm not going to ejaculate my list of whys into the vast eyeball of the internet and then expect people to line up and lick it all off... cause that would be wierd. Now learn from these guys

and go play outside.

You seem addicted to Runescape with this attitude...this thread is about comparing them so I cannot drop the whole fucking subject(!?)

I do play outside and I don't even play WoW OR Runescape

Go play outside.

8. Community- Getting caught up in a community is less fun than slaying monsters alone, while I was "in the zone" on WoW, I often met and befriended many a guild member- but it was annoying the fact that I considered them friends and that I wanted to chat with them everyday- it evertually gets depressing.

Main Point: Runescape is cheaper for more fun. £40 for a year of runescape compared to nearly £100 more (138-assuming each expansion of wow is £10) for a year of Wow.

Main Point: Quests in Runescape ARE a big pro for the game.
first of all, you don't like the fact that when caught up in a game you can befriend other people who are playing the game because it depresses you?
well that does explain why you might like RS... i'll admit i haven't played WOW, but short of removing the friends system, i don't think that RS could make the community harder to access. and then there is the question of why would you want to access it so maybe they realised this and decide to let two birds live by not throwing a stone. despite the fact that community, i'm fairly sure, is the ONLY attraction of an MMORPG.

secondly, since when did price affect how good a game is? or even if you "prefer" one or the other. (i will steadfastly refuse to go into the convincing yourself that you like smoking dilemma solely because i cannot find a decent link)
if realistically you cannot afford WOW, or just prefer to spend your money on other things, it isn't RS you prefer, its the other things you could spend your money.

and the quests were dull and uninteresting. -oh no what will happen to the gnome king??- i don't know just give me the damn rewards already.
anyone saying that the quests in RS are better then in WOW so that makes it a good game clearly has never played a storyline MMO. and whilst neither have I, i've heard their out there. as said before, the only people that play RS are the people that cannot afford a better game, and cannot afford a better pc, and cannot be bothered to research other games...
...
The storyline of the quests arent why runescapes quests are good. They are good because you have to go find items and NPCs that you have never used before, unlike wow. And you also goto a new area of the World Map and unlock new places. In Wow you stay in an area where the land is so repetitive everywhere.
The money thing- im pointing out how much cheaper it is to play a better game and to not waste your money on the addiction. I think in hindsight wow just sucked a big fat load of my money which really caused more stress than released any (which is what some games are supposed to be able todo)
The meeting people thing- I said it depresses me having to talk to them everyday not making friends with them because I dont think its possible for me to maintain a relationship with someone I will never meet in person. Wow is a much fuller on game, no matter where you turn, there are people everywhere in wow which obviously is why it is a MMO but it is easier to avoid the more annoying ones in Runescape than wow- all you have todo is run away :p.
Community in MMO in general- Of course a good MMO involves other people, but wow is a much more addictive game because it nearly gives people too much of it and you become part of something serious.

Anyway thank you for arguing with me, and have a nice evening.

You forgot the price tag. Runescape costs less than half that of WoW; and that's if you're a member.

Graphics mean nothing, I would rather play pacman for an hour than the totorial of Runescape (which I did.) The Combat is so pointless and takes no skill. It seems like spells are pointless. You may have to pay for WOW but you would need pay me to play Runescape.

In WoW I never encountered a guy as a girl avatar following me around going,"Doo uz wnt grlfrnd?" Runescape it happens every five seconds.
doo uz want gi- NO.

This was one of the problems. WoW may have a lot of imbeciles, but WoW idiots will never compare to Runescape idiots.
Not to mention that Runescape censored everything. Couldn't even say "Stupid".

But hey, OP, if you like Runescape, great.
Now, for the rest of the world...

tbh, I don't have much time for MMORPGs, but Runescape was my first and the only one I kept playing! I always got hooked on it and it was so satisfying. I agree, I think that the different quests always kept it fresh, and I remember that I'd literally sit on my computer for about 5 hours just mining and smithing until I could mine Mith.
But one thing I hated was all the idiots on there. I think I was about 13 or 14 when I started playing and I don't actually ever remember being so damn annoying. I think if it was fee playing, you'd lose all the idiots, and it'd be cool to play again, in a more calm environment.

I do play outside and I don't even play WoW OR Runescape
1. I am not "addicted" as you say to runescape. In fact I haven't played for about three months now. The only thing I said is that I like it. In the same way you like trying to make nonsensical arguments with people who don't give a shit. You're not addicted. Your just stupid. If I was addicted I would be making a fucking two paragraph essay on why the puppies and kittens are better in RS than the horses in WoW. I'd also be replacing !'s with 1's. A LOT.

2. By "drop the subject" I meant DON'T MAKE BLOODY FUCKING THREADS BITCHING ABOUT THINGS THAT YOU CAN NEVER, EVER RESOLVE. The only time it's okay is when you post like Infernai did and say "I like/dislike [Insert generic game title] because [Insert generic reasoning]". There. One bloody line. AND THEN YOU LEAVE! And even then it's still as pointless and tedious as trying to get a nun to put out. You'll never get any satisfaction. No one is going to thank you or agree or say "OI, you're right. I am being a dumbass and [Insert generic game title] really IS better than [Insert other generic game title]".

3. If you don't play either game then WHY IN CHRIST'S NAME ARE YOU HERE!? BLOODY BLEEDING HELL!!!!!11111one

My opinion is that RS is better and more interesting than WoW. Yes, it's graphics are piss-poor even after the updates but it offers a very unique and inexpensive (or free) way to waste your life. And that's what we were all put on this earth for anyway. That's my opinion. You other tossers can say whatever you want. And to everyone here who isn't being a douchebag, and there are a few here, I apologize for this liitle tyraid of dickery.

I have a lot of friends that play both WoW and Rune and they can't decide between the two and play both equally.

Runescape isn't a bad game, it just has a (generally) retarded community made up of 7-9 year olds. Im glad to see that you actually have an opinion and reasons other than: ITZ FREE.
