I haven't seen any change at all - people talk about it, people are fired for it, etc. But i have yet to actually see it. Let alone understand why they can't just print more money if its REALLY that bad.

Sidenote: This is in Australia at least.
Did you see what happened to Germany when they started printing money they didn't have?

Ooh! Ooh! I know this one!
The mark was devalued SO much, a loaf of bread cost roughly a wheelbarrow full of cash!
And children stacked them like building blocks!

Thankfully not. My Dad works in the public sector, but he survived this dreadful Budget. Teachers are going to be pissed, though. Not looking forward to school.

Shit, I'm doing better now than I was before this crap started.

I should be cleared to go back to work next week, and I have experience in job fields most people don't, so work shouldn't be to hard to find.

Sales taxes went 7.25% to 8.25% so anything with tax cost a few more cents and the price of everything has gone up. Things that used to be $1 are now $1.25. Seriously, if Pringles become more than $2, I may never buy another can.

I'm underemployed... apparently I went to college so I could make $10 an hour working 12am-8am. Its not so bad... I answer maybe 20 phone calls a night and spend the rest of the time dicking around on the internet and looking for a real job.

I'm seventeen and I can't get a part-time job because no one is hiring, not even friggin' McDonalds is hiring where I live!.
I'm thirty-two and I can't get a part-time job because no one is hiring, not even friggin' Jack In The Box is hiring where I live!

Granted, the recession hit some of us sooner than others. I've been out of work since 2003, going to school instead.
That sucks man. :(

Only thing is that my parents want me to start paying them $800 a month when I turn eighteen and they expect me to pay for college by myself and my dad is too lazy to teach me to drive and too cheap to buy me even a junker of a car so I can't go look for a job. In short, I am fucked. I'm going to have to stay with my grandmother up in Tampa if I don't want to be homeless.
I lucked out that my parents aren't of the "18, and you're out the door" persuasion. Still, without an income or vocation, it's just a different kind of limbo.

I had a hell of a time finding my first job, but I called a family friend and he got me a job digging ditches for him, now were waiting for a contract. Things should pick up at the end of January...

The company i work for is doing better than ever, it helps that i've been with them for a few years though, some of the junior techs have been cut from 50hours/week to 25...

Bad time to be looking for a new job though, luckily i don't have to :)

My dad is a college professor, so yeah, he's having trouble finding a job. My mom on the other hand, who is also a teacher, is doing fine because she wrote the charter for her job and she's the best teacher there so I assume they can't fire her. I'm still pretty fearful, though.

The hotel that I work at has had the number of groups renting meeting space drop, meaning I work less hours for less gratuity (I'm set-up so I haul tables around and set up the meetings. We get a cut of the profits). Fortunately we've been able to pick back up to normal levels in November or else we might have been shut down.
