"Cool, bro." Jordan said to Simon as he spoke up. With Aeris now present that was the group all up and accounted for, except for Fary. Maybe she's still with Rock douche. Probably at the gym.

~

The rest of breakfast went fairly quickly. Both people and Pokemon got their fill. Terinth returned from showering and the group changed venues, arriving outside of the Rock Gym, still imposing despite the fact that it was the second trip there.
The bell started buzzing in Brock's room. "Huh, well there you go. Challengers await. No time for food." He got up from the table. "You can come out with me if you want, or stay here. It's up to you. Hopefully this won't take long. Six trainers yesterday was a little taxing on my resources." Brock put his vest on and made his way out of the room towards the battlefield.

"I'll be out right out." Fary said finishing her food and brushed out her hair putting it back up and walked out. She looked like she had spent the night at the gym with Brock, thankfully she didn't look like she had a night of passion after pulling up her hair and washing her face. "Oh it looks like its my group again." Fary said to Brock.

"Alright, so who's going after him this time? I don't care when I go, I just want to beat him, and get out of this town." Terinth said, looking around for Brock, seeing him stroll onto the battlefield. "Well, here comes rock-head now."

"Um... I wasn't actually planning to come back here this early," Rochelle noted aloud. "I mean, if you guys want me to hang around, that's cool and I'll stay to show some support, but I think my Pokémon and I could use a break from all the battling and suchlike. Just take some time to chill out and let the team out of their balls for a while." She remembered that she had to visit the Poké Mart a second time to see what kind of labels they had available, as Tyler had suggested, but didn't voice it as it was more trivial than anything else she had said.

"I'll handle him first..." Mika said confidently, Bones and Toxina at his sides, ready for combat. "If I win, I'm taking everyone out to lunch. There should be some pretty good places in town. Hey Brock, you know a good place we can get lunch after our battle?"

Bones and Toxina were busy discussing with each other plans of battle, and trying to decide which of them wanted to go out first.

I think that you should go out first, if you like. Mika should be able to handle these Rock-Types with only your help, but he can use me as a backup if need be.

I think you're right. Besides, I'm itching to have a real battle against another Trainer's Pokemon... Especially since it's a Gym Leader.

Alright then... I wish you luck.

"I'm ready for battle, Brock... Hopefully you're sufficiently rested?" Mika asked the Gym Leader courteously.

Brock emerged from back behind the large rock and faced the returning group. Fary was close behind and Brock allowed her to sidle up next to him. "Oh I had a pretty nice night last night, don't you worry kid. I'll be more than a match for you trainers today!" He raised the machine bringing up the selection of Pokeballs, all Pokemon contained within now fully rested. "Oh, and Cora's near the edge of town has a very nice lunch selection. Just near Route 3, you can't miss it."
Jordan looked over at the Leader and saw Fary practically hanging off the side of Brock. Dang. Well that was quick. Guess she moved on already. Maybe I'll see what Rochelle is thinking. She could be down for it.

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for when the battle's over." Mika said with a grin, sending out his first Pokemon to battle. "Toxina, you're up. Send out your first, Brock. Let's begin this."

Mika stood at the ready, Toxina standing in front of him in a battle stance, her horn pointing outward and spikes bared.

"Alright, kiddo." Brock said, standing strong before Mika and calling out his first Pokemon. "Onix, come on out!"

The large Rock Snake Pokemon beamed out from it's tiny sphereical home, roaring fiercely at the tiny Poison-Type.

"Let the battle begin!" Brock called out, sending Onix forward. "Tackle, now!"

The Onix rushed into Toxina, causing her to fall back a few paces and then stand back up, staring at him aggressively.

"Use Double-Kick, now!" Mika called out, the female Nidoran ran forward and lunged at the large Rock-Type with her heels, causing it to fall back and wince in pain. She slammed her heel against it twice again, causing one of the rock-pieces to develop a crack, and the Onix to fall unconscious. It was a critical hit! "Excellent work, come on back for a bit."

Mika called back his Nidoran female, and sent out Bones, who growled aggressively and waited for the new Pokemon.

"Gr... I'm not gonna let you embarrass me in front of the first girl to have sex with me... Er, I mean, accept a date from me! Rhyhorn, you're up!" The Spikes Pokemon roared at Bones, who didn't seem phased at all.

"Bones, you use Snarl, please." Mika said calmly, and his Pokemon followed orders, growling and barking at the Rhyhorn, sonic blasts of Dark energy hitting him hard. "Excellent shot!"

"Rhyhorn, Stomp!" Brock called out, the Pokemon rushing forward and jumping, about to slam it's hooves into the Dark-Type. Bones doubled back, shaking off the attack and then growling harshly at Brock's Rhyhorn, using another Snarl at it, and causing it to take more damage. "Rhyhorn, use Horn Attack!"

The heavy Pokemon bounded forward, its horn ready to gore the Dark Pokemon... However, Bones was faster, and was easily able to dodge the attack, and then counter with a powerful Ember, burning the Pokemon with intense flames, causing it a severe burn which it took damage from, and passed out on the floor.

"Haha! I won!" Mika said ecstatically, looking up at Brock and smiling. "Thank you very much for the match, sir... I thank you." He said, walking up to the Gym Leader and shaking his hand.

"Alright, kid. You've got some serious skill... Here's your prize money, all $140 of it... And the TM for Rock Tomb, use it well." Brock congratulated Mika and handed him the items. "Of course, here's your badge... Wear it proudly, it's a symbol of your hardcore awesomeness."

Mika shook Brock's hand again, and walked back over, giving Aeris a big hug and a kiss. "I won!" He shouted excitedly, calling his Pokemon back into their balls and looking at his badge. "Mmm, I can already taste our victory lunch."

At the sight of Fary beside Brock, Rochelle put two and two together quickly. Evidently they had spent the night together, judging by Brock's sunny disposition. She remembered the brief conversation she had had with Fary, in the Pokémon Center before she rushed off to watch Jordan's battle against the Leader. And for some reason she felt cold all of a sudden, even though the temperature in the room was exactly the same as it had been the day before.

Uncomfortable with being in the same place as what was most likely a soon-to-be-quite-possibly-awkward triangle of Fary, Brock and Jordan, Rochelle quietly turned and left the Gym as Mika stepped forward to battle the Gym Leader. She had no desire to see or hear anything that went on between the three of them. Once out of the building she wandered off without paying attention to where she was going, eventually winding up sitting on a bench near the Poké Mart.

Even though she was away from the Gym and its current occupants, Rochelle still felt strangely cold inside. Wanting company more than anything, she pulled her Poké Balls off of her belt and opened up all three of them. She picked Kirsten up off the ground and held the Horsea in her arms while the two birds pecked at the ground and flew around the area a little bit. Natalya seemed a little oblivious to the silent Trainer, while Phoenix occasionally looked at Rochelle and chirped once or twice before his attention was drawn elsewhere.

Gently cuddling with Kirsten, Rochelle felt a bit better, but just seeing Fary with Brock was... she didn't know how to describe it, even to herself. The Water-type was fairly warm in the sunlight, and perfectly comfortable in the crook of Rochelle's arm.

"Well enjoy it there kid," Brock told his young opponent. "You knocked out two of my toughest fighters there. All right, are there any more challengers out there for me today? I want to get through this as quickly as possible!" He looked over at Fary as he said that.

Aeris returned Mika's hug and kiss and had a big smile on her face. "Congratulations! That was amazing to watch. What do you want to eat? I...can't cook. But we can find some place here in Pewter to eat, can't we?" She hugged him a bit tighter and put her forehead down against his, looking down at him.

Blaze and Tristan also congratulated Mika on his victory by joining in the hugging, Tristan hugged Mika's head while Blaze hugged his knee. She was careful about not hugging too tightly since she was stronger after evolving into a Charmeleon.

As the battle between Brock and Mika conclude, she was pleased by him losing, and immediately walked up to Brock, shouldering past Mika and Aeris.

"Get ready to lose again, Brock. You're not humiliating me again." Terinth said, bringing out her two pokemon with their red beams of light. Brock did the same, and brought out Geodude and Larvitar.

"Alright, let's get this done. I have someone I'd like to get back to." Brock said, glancing at Fary. As their pokemon faced each other on the pokeball, Brock shouted out commands at his pokemon. "Larvitar, use Sandstorm, Geodude, Rock Polish!" As the pokemon followed his commands, a sandstorm blanketed the field, taking visibility down to zero. Terinth looked around, trying to find her two pokemon. As she picked out their two shapes, she shouted out their commands.

"Both of you, use Leer! Draw them close to you!" Terinth commanded, listening to them both cry out, following their commands. She could hear Brock shouting out commands to his pokemon, but couldn't make them out over the roar of the sandstorm. As she looked around, she saw Geodude rushing forward to tackle Monk, and Larvitar trying to bite Puppy. "Guys, both of you dodge out of the way! Puppy, Bite, Monk, Fury Swipes, both on the Larvitar!" Watching her pokemon dash after the smaller pokemon. Monk, wildly thrashing about, trying to hit the Larvitar, Lillipup dashing towards the pokemon, but was interrupted in its dash by a rock smashing into its body with surprising speed. Terinth was surprised by the speed of the Geodude.

"That's going to be a problem, fast." She thought to herself, then shouting out commands again. "Keep focusing on the Larvitar! Puppy, Tackle it! Monk, use Fury Swipes when it's on the ground!" As they dashed ahead, the Larvitar dashed at them, trying to tackle them. It met Puppy head on, and they slammed their heads into one another, knocking each other, causing them to start stumbling around. Monk wasted no time, dashed in, and started flailing his fists at the Larvitar, knocking it onto the ground, unconscious. Monk immediately turned to the Geodude, who was slamming himself quickly into Puppy, and rushed, tackling him into the ground.

As Puppy stumbled around, it shook its head, clearing it up, and faced the Geodude. Brock shouted out, commanding his pokemon to use Rock Throw, and it began hurling rocks at the pair of pokemon. Terinth looked and saw the Geodude was tired, and that she was just about to win. She shouted out the final commands, "Monk, Low Kick! Puppy, Tackle!" Monk rushed forward, and delivered a Low Kick to Geodude, sending it back a little, and Puppy followed up by slamming to straight to the ground with it's Tackle, knocking it unconscious. As Terinth called her pokemon back to her, she saw Brock collecting his.

She walked up to him, and she saw a look of disappointment on his face. "Give me my money so I can get out of here." She said to him. He handed her $140 and her Boulderbadge, and looked to wait for the next challenger.

Terinth walked out of the Gym, heading towards the PokeCenter, when she noticed Rochelle outside, and called out to her.

"Hey, Rochelle! What're you doing by yourself?"

Simon stepped forward into the challenger's box. "I will be the your next opponent." he stated. From his pocket Simon withdrew his glasses and slid them on. "I'd like to battle two on two if that's allowed." he continued.

"Alright then." Brock set the two previously used Pokéballs into the machine and selected two more. "Pokémon, go!"

"Shadow, let's go. Pen, you too." Simon tossed the one Pokéball underhanded onto the field of rocks and dirt. Shadow yipped and darted onto the field. Three bright flashes of light briefly obscured the view. The light dimmed down to reveal four very different Pokémon. Simon blinked in surprise when he saw his opponents. 'Aren't those the same as....oh well.' He shoved the now minimized Pokéball into his pocket before taking out his Pokédex to scan the opponents.

While Simon scanned, Brock boasted. "These may look like the same Pokémon, but they're much stronger!"

074 Geodude
Rock Pokémon

HT 1' 04"
WT 44 lbs.
It uses its arms to steadily climb steep mountain paths. It swings its fists around if angered.

246 Larvitar
Rock Skin Pokémon

HT 2' 00"
WT 158.7 lbs.
It is born deep underground. It can't emerge until it has entirely consumed the soil around it.

'Well. This is might be tough.' Simon thought. He drew in a breath and slowly let it out. The fluorescent lights built into the ceiling reflected off of his glasses. 'Alright. Let's go.' Squaring his shoulders Simon gave his first attack commands.

"Shadow, use Leer on Geodude. Pen use Sand attack on Larvitar!"

The Pokémon sounded their agreement and immediately began their attacks. Shadow glared fiercely at the hovering Geodude. Pen stirred up a burst of sand and directed it at Larvitar.

Brock watched Shadow's performance and laughed. "Is that it?" he asked. His expression abruptly became business-like as he issued commands to his Pokémon. "Geodude, use Defense Curl!. Larvitar, leer attack now!"

"Geo" The rock Pokémon crossed its arms in front of its chest and began to glow. Larvitar puffed out its chest to glare fiercely at the Pidgey in the sky.

Pen looked down to meet the Larvitar's gaze for an instant. Then she squawked and abruptly banked to the left, breaking the gaze. Larvitar made a startled sound. Pidgey appeared unaffected by the intimidation.

'Ha!' Simon thought. Things were going well. "Shadow, use Bite. Pen use Sand Attack again."

Pen gave an affirmative cry and dove down closer to the ground. She stirred up more sand and dirt with her wings and directed the miniature cloud at Larvitar. Extra bits of debris continued passed Larvitar and invaded Simon's trainer area. He quickly brought his arm up to cover his face. His eyes narrowed but the glasses lent him a bit of protection. On the opposite side of the field, Shadow darted toward Geodude and lunged toward the floating rock Pokémon.

"Cheeee." Shadow growled just before he latched onto one of Geodude's arms. The sound of teeth on stone was just barely audible. Geodude flailed for a few seconds, waving both of its arms frantically trying to disengage Shadow. "Geo. Geo. Geo" It complained. Shadow gave a muffled growl and continued to hang on. Just before Geodude's arm impacted a nearby large boulder Shadow let go. The Poochyena bounced off of the ground then quickly backed up to get out of range of the still flailing Geodude. "Geeeo." Shadow's opponent flexed its arm while making what was probably a not-so-polite comment.

Brock looked a bit irritated but his commands were issued in the same brisk tone. "Larvitar, use Screech. Geodude use Tackle!"

"Geo" "Lar..." Geodude posed like a runner about to leave the starter's block. Larvitar took a deep breath, its arms moving backwards as its chest expanded. At an unseen signal, Geodude rushed forward and Larvitar opened its mouth. The high-pitched screech Larvitar emitted made Simon flinch. Shadow, who was directly in the path of the noise blast, whined and pawed at his ears.

Geodude was still moving toward Pidgey. But Pennant rose higher and higher into the air, so much so that her wings brushed the edge of the lights. Then she darted to the side. Geodude's attack fell short. The rock Pokémon fell to the ground.

Simon winced as the impact from Geodude's landing shook the battlefield under his feet. He looked up at Pen. The Pidgey was still moving, and had drifted closer toward Larvitar. Simon got an idea. Pointing to the Larvitar he addressed Pennant first. "Pen, use Tackle. Shadow, use Howl."

Pennant circled above Larvitar, looking for just the right angle. Across the battlefield Shadow settled his weight onto all four paws and lifted his head to the sky. The small Pokémon let loose a howl that seemed to come from a much larger body. The gradually increasing sound reverberated throughout the gym. At the howl's peak, Pidgey dove down and hit Larvitar solidly. The heavyweight Pokemon didn't budge but it made a pained sound at the impact. The satisfied squawk Pen made was lost in the dying echoes of Shadow's cry.

For a moment, all was silent. Then Brock issued his next commands.

"Larvitar, use Bite. Geodude, tackle that Pidgey now!"

"Geo!"

"Larrrr"

Brock's Pokémon moved forward quickly. A sharp and pained cry came from Shadow as Larvitar sank sharp teeth into his side. The Poochyena immediately began to struggle but could not break free. All four paws scraped against the ground and his body contorted in pain.

Simon looked anxiously between his two Pokemon. 'Come on...you can do it.... "Get out of there." he pleaded.

"Pidgeee" Pen cried out loudly as the solid weight of Geodude slammed into her small body. Geodude continued moving, taking the Pokémon further out of Simon's view. "Geo!" The triumphant cry of the rock Pokémon was unsettling to Simon. For a moment all that he could see, or hear...was Geodude.

Simon started to rush forward instinctively but froze with his shoe just touching the edge of the trainer box. He grunted in frustration. Simon called out anxiously. "Pennant?"

"Pidg..." came the muffled reply. A wing appeared from around Geodude. Then a beak. Slowly the full Pidgey appeared. She was walking on the ground, one clawed foot put shakily in front of another. Her feathers were a mess, ruffled and dirty.

Simon held up Pen's Pokéball. "It's alright." he said, loud enough that his voice carried across the field. "You did well. You can re-"

"Pidge!" With an angry cry, Pen shook her head and launched into the air. Her flight was unsteady at first, and she dipped down a few times. On the second dip, some unseen wind seemed to ruffle Pen's feathers. With a sudden burst of energy her flight steadied and leveled off.

"Dgeee." Pen called. Simon peered up at his Pokémon. 'What was that?' he wondered.

Brock was also watching the Pokémon's flight. But for a different reason."Feel free to forfeit" he commented. The Gym Leader had his arms crossed and was now giving Simon a peculiar look.

Simon frowned. Though Pennant had received some energy back she was still visibly battered. He thought back to the scuffle with the angry Beedrill. Pen hadn't moved, then. But now...now she was moving. Though injured, she still wanted to fight. She was determined. Another trait both of Simon's Pokemon seemed to share. Simon looked over at Shadow to see that the Poochyena had managed to free himself and was growling at Larvitar. Shadow's fur was standing on end and his teeth were bared. Larvitar, by contrast, was simply standing still. Waiting for another command. But it was Simon's turn.

"Alright both of you...Sand Attack!" he called.

His Pokémon's affirmative cries were strong. Shadow began running in a circle beneath with Pen hovered. For her part, the Pidgey began stirring up dirt with her wings. Together the two gathered dirt, sand, and bits of rock in the air. One combined sand attack was being created. And then unleashed.

Brock shouted to be heard over the incoming sand wave. "Geodude! Use tackle now! Larvitar, bite attack!" Then the gym leader threw his arms up, preparing to ward off the sand.

"Geo" Pulling its arms in close to its sides the Geodude launched itself forward. Larvitar opened its jaws to display sharp teeth before lunging at Shadow.

"Shadow, look out." Simon cautioned his Pokémon but it was toward Pennant that he looked. More worried about the giant mass of rock hurtling toward his small bird friend, Simon tried frantically to think. Geodude was closing in fast despite the cloud of sand. Simon needed something quick...he needed...a bit of luck. A windfall, as his father would say. 'Wind...wind! Could it work?' Simon looked up at Pen and shouted. "Pen use Gust!"

And then Simon held his breath. And hoped.

As Geodude continued speeding toward the Pidgey, Pen launched herself upwards, flipped in midair, and gave a mighty flap of her wings. A strong gust of wind slammed into Geodude's back, propelling him past the Pidgey. The wind combined with Geodude's own momentum sent the rock Pokémon flying. Past the giant boulders Geodude flew. Past the battlefield entirely, past the bewildered Gym leader, through the open air, until finally he collided-

*CRUNCH*

-with the gym wall. The sand slowly settled to reveal a Geodude sized dent in the metal wall.

"Geeeooooo..." Came a muffled cry. Geodude's arms appeared from the sides of the crater. Weakly it pushed against the wall.

*THUNK*

-and fell to the ground. Where it rolled then lay still.

Brock left the trainer box to walk over to his fallen Pokémon. Its eyes were closed and it was emitting a low groan. Brock shook his head. And pulled out a Pokéball.

"Pidgaaa!" High above the battlefield Pennant was doing a victory lap in the air. Simon laughed and pointed his Pokéball at the celebrating Pokémon. "Well done Pen", he called just before the beam hit. When Pen was safely in her Pokéball Simon turned back to the battlefield. "But it's not quite over yet." he said quietly.

"Shadow, are you alright?" He asked.

"Chee!" Shadow growled his response and settled himself in front of Larvitar. Some of Shadow's fur was at Larvitar's feet, apparently removed during the attack. But Larvitar was injured as well. Scuff marks and welts were visible on its green skin.

Brock walked back to the field. In one hand he held Geodude's Pokéball.

"You've beaten one of my Pokémon." He told Simon. "But I won't let you beat them both."

'We'll see.' Simon thought.

Brock threw out his hand, dramatically shouting to his Pokémon. "Larvitar use Bite attack!"

Immediately following Brock's command Simon gave one of his own. "Shadow, tackle it." There was a chance this could work.

Larvitar began moving forward, each step the Pokémon took leaving heavy footprints on the field. Shadow also began moving toward his opponent. His four paws moved quickly, covering more ground more quickly. Shadow leaped, Larvitar snapped. There was an sudden cloud of dust. Simon leaned over the edge of the trainer box, straining to see clearly.

The dust cleared. And its wake both Pokémon were revealed. Larvitar was holding one of Shadow's hind legs and there was an angry red mark on Larvitar's midsection. Shadow pawed at the ground, desperately trying to get traction against the dirt. He whined, and yelped. His trapped leg tried to move within its confinement.

Brock grinned. Something Simon noticed and disliked. "Come'on Shadow." he called. "You can do this."

Shadow struggled harder. His short but sharp claws dug into the dirt. Some of the debris flew back into Larvitar's eyes. Larvitar blinked instinctively. And for a second it's hold weakened. It was enough. With an angry growl Shadow yanked his leg out of Larvitar's mouth and scrambled to get away.

'That was close.' Simon moved to the edge of the trainer box and knelt down. He tried to see how injured Shadow was, but he couldn't tell for sure from where he was. The Poochyena was limping, but his head was still held high. Determined, though injured.

"Good job, bud" Simon said quietly. "Tackle Larvitar again." he called. 'If you can...'

Brock frowned. "Larvitar use sand attack!" he commanded.

"Larrr" Larvitar reached down and grabbed handfuls of dirt. In quick jerky motions Larvitar threw the sand mixture at the incoming Poochyena.

"Yen." Shadow yipped and shook his head as sand was thrown into his face. From the trainer box, Simon could see that the Pokémon was starting to slow down. Which would mean his attack wouldn't be as effective. "Shadow!" he called, "keep going!"

"Chee!" Though blinded, Shadow trusted his trainer. His speed increased again. Larvitar continued to hurl sand and dirt but no amount of debris dissuaded Shadow. At the last instant Larvitar tried simply to dodge, but it couldn't move fast enough. With Larvitar half-poised to shift its weight, Shadow connected. He hit the off-balance Larvitar head on in the center of its mass.

"Laaaarrrr" Larvitar toppled backwards, rolled twice, and landed face first in the dirt.

Shadow immediately pounced on top of Larvitar, pressing it further into the dirt.

"Cheeeee." Shadow rumbled.

"Lar. Lar-lar!" Larvitar's arms waved as it protested quickly.

"Chee." Shadow replied. The Poochyena leaned down and poised to bite Larvitar's neck. But Shadow didn't finished the attack. Instead he growled a final time and hopped off of Larvitar's back. Without the extra weight Lartivar was able to stand up on its own. So it did. And then it immediately fell back down, putting one small hand to its leg.

"Larrrrrr" It complained. Shadow huffed and took a few steps backwards.

Simon watched in disbelief as the two Pokémon who had just been battling now sat in the middle of the field....talking.

'What do I do now?' He wondered. Was there any kind of precedent for this kind of thing? He certainly hadn't read about any gym battles or any battle for that matter that ended with Pokémon striking up a conversation.

Simon sighed and knelt down in the trainer box. Brock hadn't shouted any commands yet, so he guess that he was safe until then.

Brock was peering intently at his Pokémon. He watched as Larvitar struggled to stand up again then cried out loudly what was clearly a complaint. Contrary to Brock's earlier claim, these Pokémon were actually the same level as his last set. And like the last set, these Pokemon appeared to be beaten. Brock was disappointed, but knew better than to push a Pokemon who could not even walk.

"Larvitar, return" he called.

Simon scrambled to his feet, almost tripping in his hurry. As soon as the red light enveloped Larvitar, Shadow bounded back to his own trainer. His gait was a bit lopsided due to his injured leg.

"Chee!" Shadow said happily. Simon laughed and knelt down to pet his...victorious?...Pokemon.

"Excellent job, Shadow. You did it." he praised while carefully looking at his Pokemon's injuries. Then, a little quieter, Simon voiced the question he couldn't help but ask. "What were you guys talking about?"

"Che. Yen. Cheee." Unfortunately for Simon, Shadow's reply made no sense. But the trainer was still proud of his team. After he finished congratulating Shadow Simon returned him to his Pokeball.

Fary watched the battles take place before her but this time watched Brock battle hoping he'd win. From time to time she looked over at Jordan feeling something in her gut, something she didn't recognize, remorse.

She wished she could take back last night but she also wished she didn't feel that way. She wasn't sure what was going on and she didn't like it. "Excuse me I have to step out of a bit." Fary said walking out of the gym a pained look on her face but she tried to hide it from both Jordan and Brock, she hopped it had worked.

She walked to the Pokemon Center and was stopped by a smiling Nurse Joy. "Nice to see you again Fary. You and Brock make a cute couple and I've never seen him this happy before." she said. The only thing Nurse Joy did was to make her feel worse. "Ummm thanks but it was just a date really. if you excuse me I need to get my things." Fary said going to the locker that had her pack in it and grabbed it putting her Pokebelt around her hips and headed out of the Center. She walked, not seeing Rochelle by the Pokemart and stopped at the Museum.

As she took a set on the stops she let out Zorua "Hey girl." Fary said petting her and cuddled with her thinking things over.

"Zora?" What's wrong?

"Oh, um... hey, Terinth," Rochelle answered haltingly, looking up from blankly staring at the ground. "Just, uhm... didn't want to be at the Gym, I guess. Not with Brock, Fary and Jordan in the same place..." She trailed off, once again remembering the conversation she'd had with Fary. Then she realised Terinth didn't know anything about that. An explanation was in order.

"As you most likely know, Fary and Jordan... hooked up, I guess the phrase is, within an hour or two of meeting one another. From what I gathered, they each seem to be happy with the relationship. But then when we got to the Pewter Gym yesterday, it looked like Fary didn't care about Jordan when Brock was hitting on us. Or at least, Fary, Aeris and myself. Anyway, it wasn't hard for me to guess that Fary spent the night with Brock, and..." Rochelle paused again, unsure of her words. This was one of those rare times when she didn't know what to say.

"Well, it's kinda confusing because she was with Jordan originally, and now I just don't know what she's up to. Seeing the three of them there, coupled with my own interpretations of things, made me a little more than uncomfortable. Hence why I left," she finished, gently moving Kirsten to her other arm as the one in which the Horsea was nestled was feeling a tiny bit of strain from her weight.

Brock walked over to the latest challenger to hand him another defeat. "Wow, maybe I've just lost my mojo today. Here you are man." He gave Simon the spoils of victory for Pewter Gym. "That was a good battle, now..." He looked around for Fary, eager to spend some more time with her before she decided to leave, but she was nowhere to be seen. "Uh...I thought I would at least get a solid goodbye...Oh well. Back to my stories I guess."

Jordan was too busy fiddling around with his Pokedex to really be paying close attention to the battles. It was so helpful in his last match he wanted to see if there was any more info it was willing to part with. Or at least to see if he could put mp3s on it since his iPod was back in Fuchsia. When he looked up, both Blondie and Simon had picked up victories, and it appeared that Fary had left Brock standing in the cold corner of defeat by himself. That girl is so flighty man. It looked like everyone else was getting ready to leave though so he rose from his seat and went to join the remaining trainers in the gym.

"Alright... Let's go ahead and celebrate with lunch." Mika said cheerfully, holding Aeris' hand as they left the Gym. "But first, we should probably head back to the Pokemon Center... I know that Bones and Toxina sure took some damage, and you guys' Pokemon probably aren't 100 percent either."

He smiled proudly at himself, looking at his new Gym Badge as he walked, and then put it back away, enjoying the day immensely.

Terinth listened to Rochelle's explanation, but could hear her voice was a little flighty.

"Listen, I can tell you're thinking about something else, or you're just confused by what you're saying. Come on, spill. I'll try not to be as rough as usual." Terinth said, trying to be understanding for someone.

Rochelle shot a puzzled look at Terinth, totally confused now. "Erm... that was everything. I don't really think I have anything else to say on the matter," she said, lightly poking Kirsten and getting what sounded like a giggle out of the little creature. Briefly ransacking her brains for something else to add to it, she found there was nothing else she could think of.

"Eh, whatever. I need to get my pokemon healed." Terinth said, getting up and walking to the PokeCenter.

As she walked in, she dropped her pokemon off at the counter and walked into the cafeteria. Lunch was served out, and Terinth grabbed a plate. She walked over and sat down close to the only other person in the room, Tyler.

"Hey, what time do you think we'll be getting out of this rat hole town?" She asked him.
