Mika dug into the deliciousness of his meal, taking a few bites of his onion rings before trying the chops... They were good, and Mika made his contented attitude known with a slight happy 'Mmm' from his throat.

"Mmm, that's good." Mika smiled, swallowing what was in his mouth. "Hey Aeris, can I try a little bit of the Charmeleon sauce?" He asked politely, gently rubbing his foot against hers under the table. He nommed another onion ring, and took a sip of his drink.

"Cheers," Rochelle said as she took the shaker. Terinth walked in as she was sprinkling parmesan over the top of the pasta bake; she seemed annoyed about staying in Pewter, judging by her expression and choice of words. Setting the shaker down, Rochelle elected to give her a more definite answer than that which Jordan had provided.

"Well, once we're finished here, we'll all head off together. We just have to meet up with..." Trailing off momentarily as she did a head-count, Rochelle continued. "Simon and Fary, and they can't be too far away. If anyone has a way to contact either of them... Maybe we should all exchange phone numbers. Can't believe one of us didn't think of that sooner."

With that, Rochelle dug one of her new pens out of her bag, pulled out the napkin from under her bowl and, with a little difficulty at first, wrote her PokéGear number on it and moved it into the centre of the table for the others to read.

"That's a good idea," Jordan said, borrowing the pen and quickly jotting his number down underneath Rochelle's. "Probably going to only, like text, just cause it's long distance, I think. Don't need the bill getting rung up. Totally set my mom off last time I got into it with this chick from out of town." With that taken care of he went right back at his salad.

"Oh there's an idea popping up somewhere," Brock said as he laid Fary down right in the middle of the gym floor. Being surrounded by all the rocks, it was quite romantic in the gym leader's eyes. He kept kissing her passionately, his hands all over her body. Clothes were about to come flying off when-

"DAH! DAH DAH DAH! DAH DAH DAH! DAH DA DAH DAH DAAAAAAA! DAH DA DAH DA DAAAAAA!"

The gym leader's challenge music could only mean one thing. Someone was going to be rock-blocking Brock. "Dang it!" Brock whined as he got back up from his lover. "Sigh, a gym leader's job is never done."

As it turned out Simon's waitress was the same flustered woman that had run into him when he entered the establishment. The embarrassed woman apologized again but Simon politely waved off the apology. He was hungry, and it wasn't as though she'd injured him. Shadow was a bit less forgiving. He remained under the table casting irritated glares at the woman's feet while Simon prepared his order.

The menu for the diner was short and simple. Sandwiches, wraps, and burgers. The names of items were changed from what Simon was used to but he could guess what the dish equivalents were by the descriptions. He ordered a heated sandwich, a side salad, and a side of chicken to be discreetly fed to Shadow. The waitress nodded jerkily and assured Simon his meal would be out soon. She took the menu and left, walking quickly away from the table. 'I hope she doesn't run into someone else.' Simon thought. He nudged Shadow lightly with his shoe. The Poochyena's soft growling was audible now that the waitress was gone.

"Be nice." Simon scolded quietly. Once the waitress brought Shadow's snack Simon knew his Pokemon would forget about the incident. Hungry Pokemon just meant slightly cranky Pokemon.

Fary sighed. "Dammit." she said getting up and kissed him softly. "Well I had better go then. No need for rumors to fly around Kanto of you banging a challenger. I want people to think I got this badge honestly." she laughed some.

"Besides I'm sure the rest of the group is waiting for me somewhere and I'm hungry." Fary said as her stomach growled. "I'll miss you Brock." Fary smiled kissing him one last time before heading out. She walked bast his challenger and waved then she was gone.

Fary found her way to the Pokemon Center's cafeteria. She picked up some mac and cheese, chicken and a salad before sitting down. She took her first bit of food and it wasn't bad, but still nto amazing. She could eat it and that's what mattered.

The waitress returned after a few minutes with Tyler's shake and placed the frosty glass in front of him along.

"Here's your shake, sir," she said as she laid out a straw, spoon, and paper cup for leftovers.

The blended concoction definitely looked tasty, especially with the carefully placed swirl of whipped cream at the top. Tyler thanked the waitress and picked up the paper-wrapped straw. After tearing the paper off, he crumpled it into a tiny ball and placed it on the table. He would toss it in the trash on the way out.

Sticking the straw into the shake, Tyler took a sip and nodded appreciatively; he knew a good chocolate milkshake when he tasted one. It reminded him of the burger joint that was down the street from his school back in Saffron, and how he would bug his parents for money every Friday to buy himself a shake and fries with his friends Michael and Justin. Many a card game had been played in that restaurant, at least until the owner threatened to call the police on them if they loitered around playing cards again.

Tyler smiled as he briefly meditated on the good memories. Fun times indeed. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he also realized that he hadn't called his mother at all today. He had called her the previous evening to excitedly retell the events of his battle with Brock and how they were going to set off for Cerulean City the next day. Quickly checking for his phone in his pocket, Tyler decided that he would call his mother once he finished this rather tasty shake.

"I'll miss you too," Brock said quietly as Fary left and his challenger made his way into the gym. Brock quickly dashed behind a rock and started giving his speech. "Welcome Challenger...."

Jordan was demolishing his salad, the giant bowl was already well over half emptied, when the call of nature struck. "Dude, uh, be right back bros," he told the group. "Totally gotta go take care of some business." He eased his way past Rochelle and headed towards the washrooms in the back. As he got back there he noticed that Simon was sitting there, having his own meal. "Hey Simon bro," he said, giving a quick wave to the older, quieter youth as he hit the lavatories.

"So..." Mika said in between bites of food. "We're headed to Cerulean next, yeah? Then we'll be going through Mount Moon. Ugh... The last time I went through there, I nearly went insane from all the Zubat and Geodude in there. Seriously, it's like those are the only two Pokemon in that cave... I'd suggest bringing some Repels, to help keep the weaker ones away."

Mika finished off his Swinub chop, then dipped one of his onion rings in Aeris' side of Charmeleon sauce, panting a little bit at the heat of it and then taking a sip of his soda.

"There's some unique Pokemon on the way there, and inside the Mountain Path, so we should be able to expand our teams before we get to the Cerulean Gym."

"We could always take the long way round the base of the mountain," Rochelle said to Mika after swallowing her mouthful of pasta. "I mean, sure, it might take a couple of days. It did for me when I was on my way down to Pallet. I figure it's less of a hassle in terms of Pokémon appearances... but there would probably be a lot of other people hanging around or working on training up their own Pokémon. But if you guys want to go under Mount Moon instead of taking the longer route, I'm good with that."

"I'll head around the mountain, trainers don't really scare me." Terinth said. "So, are we going to vote on it, or are we going to split up into like two different groups?"

The steak Aeris got was well made, and with the Charmeleon Sauce, it was even better. She giggled when Mika had himself a bit of it and kissed him on the cheek. "Looks like you could handle it, just barely." She smiled and had a bit more of her steak and drank a bit of her Lemonade.

"It doesn't really matter to me which way we go. But I've heard there are fossils of old Pokemon inside the cave. I heard about it when I was visiting the lab in Cinnabar Island one day. The professors there said there might still be some around and that it would be a possibility to revive them. I don't know if they'll be Fire Pokemon, but it would be so cool to have one."

Jordan was done getting out what he had to get out and left the washroom. He passed Simon again as he came out. "Dude, you really should come over with the group bro," he told him. "We're all like over there." He pointed towards where the group was as he returned to the table. The others were discussing the options for traversing the mountain ahead. "I dunno bro," he said. "I just want to go whatever way is the fastest, right? Like, just let's get to the next place."

Simon continued to finish the last remnants of his sandwich as Jordan walked away. Though he wanted to find the group eventually, sitting with them and talking didn't sound particularly appealing. But, Simon reminded himself, he did need to know where they were headed next. The maps he'd brought with him were useful but having someone who actually knew their way around was nice. Simon fed Shadow the remaining bits of food before flagging down the waitress. Luckily she'd been refilling someone's drink close by. Simon paid for his food in cash and thanked the waitress for her service.

"Keep the change." Simon added. It saved him from needing dig out additional cash for a tip.

"Alright, thank you, sir!" The waitress gathered his plates and carried them away. A customer tried to get her attention as she passed. Another refill, it looked like.

"Come 'on Shadow." Simon looked down at the table then rapped his knuckles against the wooden surface. The Poochyena slowly emerged from underneath the seat. Shadow was now comfortably fed and in a much better mood. He stretched leisurely then shook himself. "Chee?" the Pokémon questioned once he was settled. Simon nodded toward the table Jordan had returned to.

"Let's go say hi." Simon replied. He walked toward the table with the Pokémon a few steps behind him.

"Fossils? Yeah, there's Fossils in the mountains... If I remember right, it's mostly Water Pokemon in this area... but, we might get lucky and find some other fossils... They're always still discovering new Fossils, and new Ancient Pokemon." He said with a smile, rubbing Aeris' hand, calling over the Waitress.

"Could we get our check, please?" He asks the girl, smiling cheerfully and nodding in thanks. He turns his attention back to the group, and listens to the conversation. "I say we go through the mountains... it'll be a good training session."

Mika finished the last few bites of his meal, rubbing his somewhat food-bulged stomach, letting out a slight burp and then giggled a bit. "Right then... who's paying?" He said cheekily, pulling out his wallet.

Jordan finished up the last bit of salad and looked at Stick. He clearly didn't get the joke. "Uh....bro I thought that was going to be you. I totally can't cover. Least not if I want to eat later..."

After finishing up her meal at the Pokemon Center, Fary headed out towards the Route that her group said they would be going to. It didn't take long, she arrived at the gate in no time at all as she waited for the rest of them to get there.

Mika smirked when Jordan failed to realize that he was making a joke, placing his palm to his face and sighing. "Yes, Jordan. I remember." He said with a smile, and pulled out some cash when the Waitress brought over the bill. He looked at it and smiled, glad that it wasn't too expensive. Diner food seldom is, though it's usually very good. He put a few 20's into the bill-fold, and handed it back to the girl when she walked back by to pick it up.

"So, after our stomachs settle from the meal... I say we head up to the Pokemon Center for a little bit, make sure everyone's in peak condition... and then we can head off to Mt. Moon, sound good?"

"Well my bros should be good actually man," Jordan told Stick. "So I dunno if I want to go back to like, the Center or anything like that. I may just hang around here. Get ready for this, sigh, mountain walking we're gonna be doing up there, you know bros?" With that, Jordan excused himself from the table and headed outside.

The truth was he still had some thinking to do about his girl situation and that wasn't going to get done with a bunch of people hanging around. He figured a little communing with nature would help. Unfortunately, as he neared the gate that was indicated earlier, the exact problem he was going to be thinking about was staring him in the face as Fary leaned against the gate leading towards the mountains.

Aw bro, what the hell? Now what? I'm going to have to like, talk to her and stuff, after she was like all over Rock dude. Like not cool. But I'm like stealing her tent. I gotta like, talk to her. Man.

Jordan gave a tenuous wave to the blonde as he slowly approached.

Fary looked back and saw Jorden feeling a small ping in her gut. "Oh hey Jordan." Fary said acting natural. She smiled softly and walked up to him. "How was your meal?" she asked trying to avoid the Brock subject as much as she could but decided she needed to lie to cover her tracks. "Sorry I didn't come back last night. Brock didn't want me staying at the Center when he had a room in the back of the gym. Lucky he went back to his place with his family to sleep so it wasn't awkward." Fary said.

"So how are you?" she asked wrapping her arms around him and cuddled.

"I don't need to check up on my team, they were patched up yesterday," Rochelle answered Mika, having got up to allow Jordan to leave the table and subsequently the diner. "Um... maybe I'll just wait at the east gate. Call if you need me." She had previously entered all of the phone numbers people had provided into her PokéGear, so she would know if anyone was trying to call her.

With that Rochelle picked up her pack and, after hefting it onto her shoulders, left the diner and looked around briefly to figure out where said east gate was. She was tempted to consult her Kanto map, but it didn't exactly specify and would be a hassle to unfold and refold. Too much effort for three seconds of looking at it. Then she spotted Jordan heading away from the diner, towards what looked like what she was looking for, and followed him to see if she was right.

It turned out that Rochelle and Jordan were both heading for the same place, although Rochelle froze in her tracks when she saw Fary there waiting. Whether she was waiting for Jordan in particular or the group as a whole, she didn't know. Having no desire to get in their way, Rochelle retreated a short distance to the wall of a nearby building and leaned up against it. She occasionally looked in the direction of the gate, but she was too far away to hear what her friends were saying.

"Mhm. Got it. I...alright, Mom. I'll call you later, okay? I gotta go now. Alright, bye".

Tyler ended the call on his phone and shoved the small device back into his pocket. Once he earned enough money from battling other Trainers, the first thing he was doing was upgrading from his dinky phone and getting one of those PokeGears he saw everyone sporting. They had many uses besides being a phone, but they were ridiculously expensive. Hopefully he'd have the money before they reached Saffron, if the money he'd earned from Brock and the local Trainers were any indication.

When he looked back up, Tyler saw Rochelle heading over to the east gate that led to Mt. Moon and lean against a nearby wall. Off in the distance, he saw what looked like Fary and Jordan standing in front of the gate itself. It looked like the two of them weren't all over each other for once, Tyler noted. He decided to head over towards the gate and try talking to them. The rest of the group was presumably still eating, so they wouldn't be departing for just a little bit longer. A little conversation would kill some time.
