Final Fantasy VII

The part where Aries dies and the part with Red XIII's father

And different parts throughout Final Fantasy X, but might have had more of a real life connection as part of the reason for it...

even when i replay the game it gets me.
and just the whole end with
big boss. it kills me to watch him die.
This is good... isn't it?

I found Boss's death a bit more depressing than Big Boss. You know... provided that YOU have to shoot her?D: That part alone makes me not want to finish MGS3, again.
i'm totally cold-hearted about it.
she was just such a ***** the whole game.
and even though i know she was the ultimate hero, and whatnot, i didn't even hesitate to blow her away.
but the whole speech and stuff was pretty depressing.
that's pretty bad isn't it...?

There are none... and we've also has this post like a thousand times before, it's getting a little monotomous.
What? No sad moments? Speak for yourself.
Are you telling me that there are actual emotional moments in games that genuinely invoke crying? Or are you talking about games where the guy that you really happen to like heroically dies and you think to yourself, 'Oh what a shame, I liked him, He was cool.' and think nothing more of it?...Because they are two completely different things.
Crying and dissapointment are two different things, yet people cry at the sad parts of movies and books. Gaming is becoming a legitimate storytelling medium, and if somebody is prone to crying because of a movie, they can also cry to about the story in a game. The stor obviously needs to be employed right, nobody can cry at Project Sylpheed because that game's story was a pile of bullshit. Just because games are considered playthings doesn't mean they can't be compelling.

Why did I just have a mental image of you hitting that button as fast as possible?

Anyway, not really. It just means keeping Fluffy alive brings you closer to the Dark Side.

Has to be Fallout, you play through the whole game only to be fucked over by the people you just sacrificed everything to save.

The fact that it's a bastard to keep you NPC's alive through the game makes it even worse, that is unless you're willing to re-load the game a million bloody times.

well, i didn't hesitate. but i didn't spam the button, i didn't want to turn her into hamburger meat. i do have respect for the soon-to-be dead! i tried to make it clean, though i'm pretty sure you didn't have much choice. :O

and yeah, so what? i love fluffy!!

I don't realy see how Gears 2 could bring someone to cry, I actually thought that whole sub-plot was kinda pointless.

Seriously though, they're not even going to attempt to find a way to help her? Just going to put her down like an old dog? I know there was nothing they would be able to do for her, But they could have at least tried. He was sad afterwards for about 2 minutes and then got on with it. If I was him, and I had just shot my wife, I'd be pretty devastated. Also During the whole of Gears 1, there was no mention of him even havig a wife, and he seemed pretty chipper. It just seemed to be an after thought of making it a little deeper, than just guns blood and gore.

They did mention it when you went to see the non-conformists or whatever they're called, But it was the bit with him actually doing it that was upsetting. The fact that he was all tough and then went all teary was moving.

Second that, it was fairly stupid / pointless, especially as all of the characters are completely unlikeable.

I'm probably the only one in this crowd to suggest it, let alone like this game, but what the hell. In Digital Devil Saga 2...

When each member of your party sacrifices themselves. Also, Heat's death. The realization of the relationships between the party and their real life counterparts just made his death all the more sad for me. He truly cared for Sera, while her affection for Serph was based on a lie. Weh.

I didn't mind the first Carmine, as he wasn't really in it long enough for me to hate him.
Also Dom was a bit of a dick, taking the piss out of the 1st Carmine, right in front of his little brother. That was a little harsh...

I have to say Lost Odyssey, but not only because of
..Lirum's death and the funeral. Some of the dream sequences are very sad aswell. They set the mood very well between hope and sadness, discribing Kaim's feelings about his 1000 years journey.

After Namoi dies in MGS4 and she leaves her message for Otacon when they disable JD. I've never cried like that before in my life.

I gotta go with the 2 hour ending of MGS4. Although, that's a movie, not a game. :3
AND THERE'S A TWO HOUR ENDING??? Damn.... I guess Kojima was hurrying to meet the deadline, eh? ;)
Sorry :( I don't know how to put up spoiler tags.

That level in COD 4 when you have to crawl around the ruins of a nuked town/city, seeing fallen, lifeless allies around you.

Some of the dream sequences in Lost Odyssey were pretty sad. Mine would have to be Dyne's death and the story leading up to it in FFVII, made sadder by the fact that he was much cooler than Barrett.

Oh and I forgot to mention the end of Shadow of the Colossus.

I mean you go through so much trouble, so much pain and you end up whit nothing.
