There's been two earthquakes in the UK that I remember. Well, I say remember; I woke up just as the first one finished. But the second one I was talking to a friend in Birmingham and a friend in Lincolnshire at the time on Guild Wars. My friend in Lincolnshire started freaking out, then my friend in Birmingham started freaking out and then it got to my area. At first I just thought I was tired and imagining that everything was moving and then the noise started... it was pretty surreal. And then we got told off for swearing (our Guild Alliance was a right bunch of killjoys) and our response was "F*** you there's just been an earthquake!"

Even though it was more confusing/surreal than scary... I suppose that's the only thing I've experienced in my life so far that could come close.

Only thing that comes to my mind right now is the time when I had a sleep paralysis.... Damn
At least it was the last time i was REALLY scared. I had the feeling that someone was walking around the sofa i fell asleep on, but i could move a muscle nor even open my eyes, although i tried so hard. Really really ungood feeling it is. Especially because said sofa was at work and i was panicing my boss entered the room waiting for me to finally wake up so he could go all frenzy at me for sleeping.
But when i finally could move and open my eyes, i found the place as empty as before.Lucky scared me.

When we were in Japan my wife and I somehow missed the largest earthquake Tokyo had in 20 odd years. We were walking around sightseeing with our host and decided to catch the train back to Yokohama only to find none of the trains running and all elevators (lifts) stopped due to this largish earthquake (no damage was done but apparently it was pretty big).

Having a completely normal day, up until you see someone suddenly get hit by a car, or hear the sound of glass shattering over someone's head outside a bar in a fight, and not knowing if they're okay or not. The scariest part was that, when the assailants in the latter case ran off, they ran over towards me. I got out of dodge pretty quick.

Having your mind play a trick on you where you swear you've seen something that isn't there is pretty freaky too, or having that moment where you wake up and you're not sure if the nightmare you've just had was real or not.

Also, the Courage the Cowardly Dog episode with King Ramses curse. That wins the traumatising me as a child prize.

this summer i was teaching Riffilry class at my camp in NJ and this kids gun did not go off this kid stood up (they were shooting prone) and turned to face me and said my gun didn't go off and then his gun fired as I simultaneously yelled WTF and ducked. the bullet grazed my arm and this all took place in a space of maybe 3 seconds.

the kid was sent home (in tears) he was more shocked than i was. i feel bad because i yelled at him while he was trying to say sorry, but he failed to respect the #1 rule of the range. "only point a gun at something you are prepared to kill or destroy"

There was actually a small earthquake here today, appropriately on a day with a scheduled earthquake drill, though a few hours after. It wasn't anything too noticeable, the ground just shook enough to announce the quake's presence.

The scariest thing that happened to me though involved wasps and my horrible fear of them. My grandpa's car has played host to wasps at least three times in different places.
Once I saw one get into his trunk, so I popped it open to shoo it out. I stuck my head in, and I didn't see it anywhere.
When I leaned out again to close it, I saw a wasp's nest built around a foot away from where my head was. I was fucking terrified.

I have never experienced an earthquake myself but I assume it would be pretty scary.

Anyways one time what seemed like an army of roaches invaded my apartment one time. Now these weren't normal roaches, these were those big ass flying roaches.'Twas quite the battle but in the end I was victorious.
