[HEADING=1]The Second Escapist Community's Top 100 Games - The Results![/HEADING]
Powered by Caffeine

Well, I did it in a lot longer than we all thought. I counted all your votes [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.290841-The-Second-Escapist-Community-s-Top-100-Games-Voting-Closed?page=1] (if you didn't vote, hit that link to see that this isn't my Top 100, it's ours) And I managed it in under 5 hours. I especially gained time once deciding to remove all games with under 5 votes straight away - I then deleted games in increasing numbers of votes until the number reached 100. And hey! It's time for a commercial break. Or I'll just give you some fun facts.
I nearly forgot to count my own votes.
My most played game during the counting was Fruit Ninja.
This wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.
I forgot to get the total number of games voted for and I'm too lazy to go back and find it. It was lots, though.
There were a total of 4407 legitimate votes (some people broke the rules).
And now, the moment you've all been waiting for, here's the Top Ten!

[HEADING=3]74 votes[/HEADING]
Dragon Age: Origins has moved up into the Top Ten this year, even with the release of Dragon Age 2

Developer: Bethesda - 4J Studios
Publisher: 2K Games - Bethesda Softworks
PC - XBox 360 - PlayStation 3

[HEADING=3]112 votes[/HEADING]

I see no Red Faction![footnote]That's the very first Red Faction on PS2. Not any of the stupid, wishy washy stupid sequels![/footnote] Thus I call shenanigans on the whole thing!
But then again, I didn't know this was happening so I can't complain xD

So... 4/5 of my votes made the top ten.

If anyone needs me, I shall be over here basking in the soft glow of popular confirmation. Ahhhhh... feels nice.

...

Heh. I bet some people are going to be pissed off at the traditionl escapist love for Valve and Bioware.

You've got Morrowind twice with 22 and 44 votes.

Edit: You also have Oblivion in the runners up and top ten.

Hmm, surprised a MGS game didn't crack the top 10. Still, Mass Effect 2 deserves that spot.

I see 3 of my top 5 got into this list. Age of Empires 2 and Timesplitters 2 tied at 16 votes with Oblivion in 7th place. Was crossing my fingers to see 'James Bond 007: Nightfire' or a Klonoa game in it, but I'm satisfied as Goldeneye never made it into the list either.

From the look of the top 10 I need to play more Valve games...

Portal 2 beat out Portal? That's surprising... It's also kind of surprising Dragon Age made it onto the top 10... Other than that, it looks about the same as most other lists.

Good spot, thanks. It's bloody hard to count things when games some under 3 titles "Oblivion", "ES4 Oblivion" and "Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion". Same with Morrowind and Knights of the Old Republic.

Anyway, I'm fixing this now.

Impressive stuff. You should definitely award yourself an internetz, or a cookie, or whatever it is you prefer.

The only one in the top 10 that surprised me was FO3. I didn't realise it was that popular here. Then again FO3 tends to make me rant, a lot, so presumably I've just been not reading the pro-FO3 threads.

What is scary is that somehow I knew the Zelda game was going to be Ocarina of Time even before I'd scrolled down that far, despite having never owned any Nintendo console or ever playing any Zelda game. That game must get mentioned a lot around here.

Less than twenty of these games were made before 2000, and of those, only five or six were made before the late nineties (Civ I, Super Mario Bros. 3, Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VI, X-COM: UD), etc.

What's amazing is what this list didn't have: Pirates!, Final Fantasy IV, SimCity, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Kart, Grand Theft Auto III, The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man 2 & 3, anything Ultima, System Shock 1 & 2, DOOM, Dune II, Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, any Castlevania, The Secret of Monkey Island, any Contra, ActRaiser, etc. Also, the fact three developers made eight of the games in the top ten is dispiriting.

I don't think escapists have a very good memory. . .

AAAWWWEEEESOOOOOMMMMEEE!

2 years in a row I have agreed with the number 1! Wonderful! Marvellous! Epi... no no, that word lost all meaning.

Still, Digimon World still has no presence in the top 100. Sad, yet understandable. I love that game so much.

Calumon: It's funny how most of them that were higher up weren't great for kids and me.

A lot of those games didn't make the Top 100 because there was a huge number of games suggested overall, they landed just shy of the 100 mark.

Mass Effect 2 flying high as expected. Other than that, I'm not sure if I should appricate my good taste in games or just call myself very mainstream cause' three of my games are in the top 10 and the rest made the top 100.

Well, well, predicting Skyrim to take the top spot next year.

I think i voted for Sid Meier's Pirates!, lol...only other game I voted for that wasn't on there was Wild Arms 3...I'm not surprised by that of course...Psychonauts should have been #1 though.

Was surprised to see Fallout 3 at four, as i think the last thread it came first didn't it? Don't really understand how Portal and Portal 2 got to two and three, i mean they are practically both the same game.

Also Cpt-oblivious, thanks for doing this (again). I have no idea how you could do this once, let alone twice lol.

Predictable, and I overall disagree with the top 10, bar Oblivion and DAO perhaps. Damn my unpopular opinion!

My favourite game of all time isn't even on the list. Then again I didn't vote. I couldn't just narrow it down to 5.

Oh well, good job with the list.
