Advent Rising was a great game, and was planned to be a trilogy with a storyline written by a well-known novelist.
And why did the sequels get dropped? Because the xbox version lagged a bit, whereas the PC versions ran smoothly.
wikipedia said:Rising was the first in a planned trilogy which also saw the development of a game that would take place alongside Advent Rising, called Advent Shadow for the PSP. However, the game's retail performance fell short of expectations. By the end of 2005, Majesco Entertainment had completely revised its business plan to focus towards handheld games and canceled plans for future Advent Rising games.
This, easily. Level 5 was really onto something with this idea, and when I found out that they teamed up with Square for DQ VIII... yeah, I knew it would rock.darthmalak95 said:I demand a Dark Cloud 3! The first 2 kicked ass, and I want more.
...What? *checks out* Ok, then... *ahem* "This is a MUMORPAGER!" And it starts like FFIX with role reversal and plays like XII/WoW. Not the most original idea, but 1) what is, anymore? and 2) it still looks great. It would make me glad I bought a PS3...darthmalak95 said:Oh well, I guess I'll just have to settle for the company's new game, White Knight Chronicles.
I thought VIII was the best one...though admittedly not for the story or characters really.Or knock off like Chrono cross was...god that was worse than FF8...
Holy shit yeah! I found a used copy recently at a thrift store and I must say I loved it! The scale was a bit off but it was still a good game.Cosmic Naginata said:Freelancer, that space sim had potential.

At first I had problems with the interface, but then I switched to autotargeting and that was fixed. My favourite part of that game was throwing aliens off the side of their ship, or into plasma fields. How creatively can you kill someone? Actually that's about it.ForgottenPr0digy said:hell yeah Advent rising was one of my favorite games for the xbox(the pc version had a patch to fix the glitches)BlackWidower said:There was supposed to be a sequel to a little known title called Advent Rising, and since Advent Rising ends on a cliffhanger it's a real cock-slap. Then again it wasn't that great a game anyway. I liked it, but it wasn't anything spectacular.
Because no one wanted a sequel to a shitty game that just burnt the Baldur's Gate name.Fappy said:Does anyone remember how Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 ended? One of the most obvious sequel hooks ever to exist in a video game and no 3rd installment.
It wasn't as good as what it was named after I will give you that, but it was a pretty fun game to rent with a friend for a weekend.NuclearPenguin said:Because no one wanted a sequel to a shitty game that just burnt the Baldur's Gate name.Fappy said:Does anyone remember how Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 ended?
