Advent Rising was a great game, and was planned to be a trilogy with a storyline written by a well-known novelist.

And why did the sequels get dropped? Because the xbox version lagged a bit, whereas the PC versions ran smoothly.

Rising was the first in a planned trilogy which also saw the development of a game that would take place alongside Advent Rising, called Advent Shadow for the PSP. However, the game's retail performance fell short of expectations. By the end of 2005, Majesco Entertainment had completely revised its business plan to focus towards handheld games and canceled plans for future Advent Rising games.

This, easily. Level 5 was really onto something with this idea, and when I found out that they teamed up with Square for DQ VIII... yeah, I knew it would rock.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to settle for the company's new game, White Knight Chronicles.

...What? *checks out* Ok, then... *ahem* "This is a MUMORPAGER!" And it starts like FFIX with role reversal and plays like XII/WoW. Not the most original idea, but 1) what is, anymore? and 2) it still looks great. It would make me glad I bought a PS3...

honestly, I don't trust sequels anymore. in my opinion, the period has passed where someone could make a sequel that didn't totally piss all over what it's following. but still, I wish we would see more of it...somehow.

hell yeah Advent rising was one of my favorite games for the xbox(the pc version had a patch to fix the glitches)

At first I had problems with the interface, but then I switched to autotargeting and that was fixed. My favourite part of that game was throwing aliens off the side of their ship, or into plasma fields. How creatively can you kill someone? Actually that's about it.

Because no one wanted a sequel to a shitty game that just burnt the Baldur's Gate name.
