Portal has a 40 minute campaign. I don't think I've ever heard of a modern game that that's short, unless you're playing a flash game.

Modern Warfare. I didn't mind, since the game is composed almost entirely of the kind of beautifully intense and memorable moments of which many much longer games only manage one or two.

Yeah, there's a single player and a campaign but does it really compare to full priced AAA single player campaign focused titles with really short playtimes such as:

*Assassin's Creed
I think it's interesting to include a sandbox game in this. Considering all the missions you could choose to do, extending playtime. Sure you could choose not to, but that's sort of like fudging the numbers a bit. Like playing Oblivion, and claiming it's only got 2 hours of play time cause you breezed through the main story without exploring the world at large.
Minus that dirty bloody flag hunting I did every side quest (the civilians that need help yeah?) etc. and still did it in a day..
Not that I don't believe you... well, I don't I don't believe you. :p I played that game. And I too did everything, but did NOT do every side quest, and DID do a little flag collection. It took me weeks.

probably the reboot of medal of honor, I got it for free with my ps3 and beat it within a couple hours of gameplay
either that or Halo: Reach, first time I ever played on an xbox, so unfamiliar controls etc. with a friend beat the game in an afternoon.

If you just blow through the bosses, Crackdown can be completed very quickly. If not, them Terminator Salvation. I think I completed it in under 3 hours.

Probably Portal or either Left 4 Deads, as those are split up into multiple campaigns each lasting 30mins-2hours depending on difficulty and map.

You Have To Burn The Rope. [http://www.kongregate.com/games/Mazapan/you-have-to-burn-the-rope] I suppose doing it with a walkthrough was cheating, but it was still pretty quick.

I saw Onimusha: Warlords which took me a little under 3 hours to beat but the shortest, nearly current gen game I beat is The Bouncer... you may proceed to laugh.

With cutscenes, its about 45 minutes long... without, you could beat that game in under 15 minutes.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2.
Beat it in one sitting, in less than 5 hours.
WTF? Yahtzee was 100% right on one of the aspects of a game; Too much padding but still too short!

Ninja Gaiden Black and Bulletstorm would be the shortest single player campaigns I can recall playing, but neither underwhelmed me, both extremely enjoyable.
