So in reference to the famous Happy Days(i think) i am hearing with increasing frequency that The Simpsons are dead. Not literally of course but the show is not as funny. So here's a question.

When did The Simpsons Jump The Shark?

When the episode airs. Thats when.

Edit: wait I didn't get it at first... and I have no clue I guess when the TV in the beginning was mounted to the wall instead of a broke old one...

The Movie was hilarious. I'm actually yet to see most of the episodes everyone hates.

It's a cartoon, I don't think jumping the shark really applies. They are allowed to have ridiculous situations.

I really don't think it's less funny, it's just a different kind of funny now, with more subtlety and satire of the media as well as fans of the show. in fact around season 12 one of the couch gags was the family actually jumping over a shark only for Homer to have his legs bitten off.
I think one of the writers said it best, "people on internet forums always say, "your show was better 10 years ago." to which I reply "so were you!", You say we jumped the shark, I say internet forums jumped the shark years ago, it's your word against mine"

I kind of stopped watching it, it's not as good now as it has been in the past, but I still enjoy the occasional episode.

The Simpsons never stopped being funny.

All the people saying it stopped being funny any number of years back probably never really "got" the show, and do not like shows like it. I'm guessing they're pretentions dickwads, but that's just me. Feel free to *not* like the Simpsons.

I never really thought the simpsons was ever that funny. It was entertaining though and a lot of it was memorable. I'm pretty sure I could spout a good number of episodes word for word and I don't watch it at all except the odd occasion it comes on during my background noise.

I guess it was good somewhere just after season 2 and then I guess it died around about the movie for me anyway

The movie was the breaking point for me. I didn't like it, but it was when I realized that the tv show was bad.

Here's the thing. it's still funny, there's little doubt about that. It's just not AS funny.

OT: For me, it the point it started being less funny to me was after the movie.

Hm...my guess would be season 14 or 15 is about the time it really lost it for me. At least half the episodes I watched after that just weren't, entertaining.
Still, I enjoyed the movie for what it's worth
