Having stayed clear of Sims 3 with all it's DLC and bull I was hoping Sims 4 might be an option. Jokes on me EA, good one. I'll just stick to Sims 2 then, because you'd have to be crazy to think I'm giving you anymore money based on this shit. You can't make all of the content from Sims 3, understandable, you want to at least try making SOME of it though?

I'm going to be "that person" and mention that Sims 3 was actually the first game in the series where you can't drown your unwanted Sims in a ladder-less pool, since that was when they gave Sims the ability to exit a pool without using a ladder.

OT: Well, that sucks. I assume both features will be included in an expansion pack at some point. Nothing about the Sims 4 promotion has made it seem like much of a progression from Sims 3, so I think this'll be the first one I don't buy.

well, i expected them to do something LIKE this, but not to remove toddlers from the base game...pools yeah, i expected them to not arrive untill some summmer or holiday based ex-pack as they are a lugury but toddlers... o.0 you mean your sims start as chidren not babies when you have them?
we havent had that since the sims 1 days lol. and those days, children never grew up.

i expected them to slice out as much as possable from the base game, and to do the same with the expansions, as they now do with every pack ( remember when they were working on seasons, and showed the ice hotel set in a dev vid, and then took it out and sold it on the store? lol)

i didnt know that sims 4 was a cancled freemium tho lol, that explains a lot realy. explains the lack of actual tools to build, tools to create sims ect. if drag and move is the way to go, im sticking with sims 1, 2 and 3 lol

So what I've learned these past few weeks is that women and pools are expensive game assets to make.
Imagine what Team Ninja's budget for Dead or Alive: Extreme Beach Vollyeball was like!

The Sims 5 Won't Have Cars, Old People.
The Sims 6 Won't Have Trees, Non-Whites.
The Sims 7 Won't Have Rooves, Women.

After all, we can't put in every feature from the previous games. We can, however, sell them to you in $20 stuff packs. Because we're cunts.

Don't buy that for a second. If it really is a resources issue, which I doubt, fucking wait a little while and finish your damn game. If you're just waiting to sell them in as DLC, realise what assholes you are and reconsider your business.

This was a cancelled freemium game that EA dug back up and called Sims 4. That's why the graphics are so fucked, and why it seems everything is locked.

and by fucked, I mean textures ripped from the sims 3 and compressed to the point they walked out of the PS1.

The Sims 3 will have nothing on the price gouging this game will do. This is an abomination that even Dr. Frankenstein wouldn't touch.
Well that really puts things in perspective.

Doesn't the very idea of sequel kind of imply "game with more stuff in it"? Oh well, I'm sure with all the DLC that the Sims 4 is going to get that idea will still stick. You'll just have to fork out an extra £200 to get all the Pool, Toddler, Furniture and Katy Perry related content to bulk out what should be an already bulked out game...

It used to be that sequels added more to the game, not remove them. If Sims 4 base game does not have something that Sims 3 base game had it's not even issue of DLC, it a bloody downgrade!

Still better than the Sims 8, that's just a box with the game engine for $80 (+$35 a month engine subscription fee) and all the expansions are basic functions like "Loading Screen Adventures", and that will be better than Sims 9 which is just a used piece of toilet paper in a box.

I could kind of see them leaving out swimming pools, if their intention is to make sure the pools will be more customizable then usual, hence meaning that to get any pool you'd have to fork out for the more customizable version to get any pool(spending money on just pool customization might be a hard sell, but if it's the only way to get a pool it might be an easier sell).

Removing toddlers on the other hand: No. I'm sorry EA, if you're about to make a life simulation it is not okay to throw away a life stage, that's a core feature.

This is the first I've heard of this. You've got a source?

This just brings up the question, why buy the sims 4 at all when the sims 3 is a better product? Granted there is a million expansion packs to buy but i am sure by now you can get some sort of deal for the lot of them (this is EA so i may be wrong on this).

EA needs to die. People need to stop giving them money so they can no longer afford to take beloved franchises and run them into the bloody ground.

Seriously, there's no excuse for a series' game mechanics to regress like this. Every game should be a strict upgrade over what came before.

So they're saving it for DLC?
Golly I'm really glad I don't enjoy this series.

INCLINE of the Sims!

But no really, the Sims 9 won't come in a box, but you can stream the picture of the used toilet paper to your device at a bargain price of one dollar per second for looking at it.

Ah yes, the EA strategy: act like dickheads to the fanbase whilst claiming you 'have' to make said changes, then charge the player for said content later on, because it was 'impossible' to put it in the core game. Like how they didn't put hot tubs into the base game of Sims 3, but put it into one of the expansions. I cant name which expansion it was, though: Around the 20th one i lost track, with the half the shelves in the PC section of my local GAME being a blur of Sims related shit.

Also, maxis, how can you be fulfilling everyone of my desires? Hell, your not even fulfilling my main one: To let the irritating shits i control drown themselves?

Wow

It's been a while since I was so glad to not be a fan of a certain series. I feel bad for those who enjoy the Sims because this is just messed up beyond all belief.

Did EA see Ubisoft's recent screw-ups and feel the need to remind people that they are number 1 when it comes to being hated?

Is that true or just speculating based on what you've seen? I am curious.
-EDIT-
I read the rest of the thread and realized you already answered this. Instead I shall just compliment your choice of avatar because I believe it is from Arcanum.
