Just say no to EA.

Want to play Battlefield Hardline? Go buy PayDay 2 instead.

Want to play good RPGs? Buy from Bethesda or Obsidian.

Looking for an MMO or MOBA that isn't a money pit from the start? Buy from Blizzard or Riot.

Want to play Titanfall? Try out Hawken on Steam...its actually free to play.

EA's business practice makes piracy almost excusable at this point, given the amount of money EA's stolen from the gaming sub-culture over the last decade...but even pirating their games is too good for most of the crap they've released in the last five years.

Just buy alternative products elsewhere. Plain and simple. People need to stop rewarding this company for treating their customers like they're stupid.

Maybe they're worried about toddlers drowning in pools. Its a concern many parents with pools have.

if you're referring to Bioware I should point out how they do "RPG's" is very different to how Bethesda does them.....and I HATE how bethesda do them

Obsidian would be ideal if they had access to those kinds of budgets...and a glitch fairy

"it's not possible to include every single feature from previous games."

*every single feature from previous games included as DLC weeks later*

The Sims 4 could be the first game in the series where you can't drown your unwanted Sims in a ladder-less pool.
I'm going to be "that person" and mention that Sims 3 was actually the first game in the series where you can't drown your unwanted Sims in a ladder-less pool, since that was when they gave Sims the ability to exit a pool without using a ladder.
Clearly you never thought of placing a fence around the pool.

OT: I don't play the sims, my Mother does and when I told her this she said "Because EA".
It's obvious.

How else could they charge 300 bucks for a game? Gotta space out the rip-off so the filthy customers won't get too angry.

So lets break down all the things they have removed so far from Sims 3 to Sims 4:

1. No Create a Style - For me this already a massive deal breaker, how the hell can you remove what is easily the best feature about Sims 3? Being able to give every single thing a unique texture or style to match your vision of a home or town is one of the most powerful customization systems ever put into a game period, and you take it away????

2. No open world - So now we have to go through more loading screens just to go to the store or visit sims that live across town...fantastic /s. there will also be fewer lots per world, I believe the number was 25 according to the forums.

3. No color wheel in Create a Sim or Lot building - pretty self explanatory, you will be limited in what colors you choose for clothes, hair and building.

4. No Pools - DLC bait no doubt about it.

5. No Toddlers - I can actually live with this because really there wasn't much game play for them if you didn't have generations but I do love the toddler stage and hate to see it go.

For me what I love about the sims is the customization and world building, being able to make a customized world and play it out is what I enjoy most. If you take away the customization then it really just becomes a dating simulator and I guess thats ok for those that enjoy only that but its really not much of a world simulation at all anymore but just a game. If I can't create a custom built town and then populate it with sims you have essentially removed all aspects of what made the game special for me.

This truly is the age of the decline with the Sims.

To anyone who thinks that Sims players will mindlessly buy up anything that EA squeezes from its corporate butt cheeks, then just take a look at the comments on the source post: users are genuinely angry at these omissions from the game.

To add to the disappointment, Create-a-style (CASt) won't be included either, nor will there be seamlessly transitioning worlds as in Sims 3. This is a really, really bad move from them, and rather than explain honestly why they aren't including these features, they've just stuffed their announcements in with some other news (maybe to soften the blow?). I was disillusioned with the series before, on account of the endless reset status of each new entry (Sims 4 will have much, much less content than Sims 3 with EPS), but now I really won't be buying it.

so a swimming pool DLC and toddler DLC in the works. WHAT THE FUCK KINDA CRAP IS THIS lol how can they not include stuff from older games.....kinda the point of new installments right ? is it not?

They will lie about this for ages saying its not possible to get it all in the game but we know better to buy that kinda EA bullshit. And months later after the shitstorm they play all stupid. I mean ffs did they not just agree they kinda fucked up with Dungeon Keeper. They prob simply dont have enough time to finish the game before EA wants a game to sell. PLus break down a game for DLC.

So basically, Sims 4 is going to be Sims 3 with better graphics and less content. I should care about this game why?

Let's place our bets, ladies and gentlemen:

Bet 1 - even more content trimmed out to show up as DLC later down the line
Bet 2 - even more game breaking bugs that never get fixed (unless you count player-made patches and work arounds)
Bet 3 - will set new piracy records for the Sims games

My money is on all of the above!

Perhaps its a cunning social experiment? Going on the idea that Sims players are the most sadistic bunch imaginable, they're going to release pools and toddlers as DLC so they can say "People are paying us money so they can drown children!"
That's... really quite brilliant. Unfortunately, it sounds like it's much too brilliant for EA to pull off.

Oh boy. Maxis, what happened to you? You used to be cool.

Could you imagine if any other company in any other industry restricted the function of their product further with every release? This is unacceptable. It's time to move past the Sims and Simcity, maybe if they both do abysmal this time around Maxis might get the hint. I mean, no toddlers? They are literally taking out an entire stage of Sim development. They are willingly going backwards?

Sometimes, video games, sometimes I don't know why I love you so much.

Impossible is the wrong word. There's nothing physically stopping them from doing it. I think the word he was looking for was unprofitable.

Exactly my thought. Bullfrog's death now seems like a blessing.

Then again, EA did dig up their grave and charged people to see it's rotting corpse.
