I can't take him as being scary as all once you know the entire real origin story of how he came to be in the 1st place...

I know how the legend started and I calmed down a little, but it's still doesn't fail to creep me out.

"The Slender Man" is just the name of the ARG, involving The Operator appearing during the filming of (the fake movie) Marble Hornets and interacting with the people involved.

I looked it up, Slender man is the real name. The guy who did the Marbel Hornet just did the "operator symbol" which symbolises the slenderman. The person who created him (for a photoshop competition) called him the Slender Man.
