Who doesn't love fighting horrors from another dimension?
The scene is a Noir-esque time period. Lightning reveals the shadow of a slim, aged man running for his life. Drenched in blood, sweat, and the heavy rain, he scrambles for his life back to town, parcel in hand. "Just... a few.... more... seconds..." As he runs into town, his look of relief turns to horror. He tries to back away from the slithering abominations crawling from within the portal, but it is too late. Screams of horror and pain are drowned out by the heavy rain and thunderclaps, leaving behind only the beaten, soaking, and now bloodied parcel.
*Ahem*
Hunter didn't talk much. He was taught to keep his head down and never argue. But when someone offers you $1000 just to meet them in person, you have to accept. His dark trenchcoat matched his sleek, short cut hair. He carried with him his trusty shotgun (never know when it may come in handy) and a lighter.
"Damnit, where is he?" That crazy professor better show up. Hunter pulled out the crumpled add. This was the place, but not a single damn soul in sight. In fact, the small town seemed to have been uninhabited for a while; all the buildings dilapadated and partially overgrown. Hunter noticed something, a package perhaps, laying on the ground. As he reached for it, he noticed a figure beginning to approach him.

I'm not sure what kind of RP you're running. Theres no character sheets so I'm assuming its a join when you feel like, no obligations, no gm, shared storytelling type thing. Which is the only environment where what I'm about to do works. If my original assumption is wrong, tell me and I'll earse this. Otherwise, I'm gonna throw in a quick stint as the baddie.

He turned his head only to face a chill of ice that settled uncomfortable in his stomach and in the dark places behind his eyes where the hollow howl of a hungry wind seemed to speak of things it had never spoken of before. And though he was grave and disquieted like sand blown by a raging storm, the form which watched him could not have inspired the unrest.

She was older than she was pretty, but not by much. The perfect average in complexion, build, and bearing stood frigidly unmoving at the side of the road staring just slightly past his extended hand to a point that existed in the dangerous realms between himself and a shrub a few meters behind him; like the majority of the world this space was filled by a void of emptiness, and one who cares about his mind should never acknowledge the emptiness. Once seen it does not forget.

She continued to stare at the nothing that captivated her while Hunter straightened himself. He noticed that her eyes were dried red and her cheeks were covered in tears that now streamed unrelented down her cheek, but she never blinked and she didn't sob or seem upset. Her entire form was frozen, eyes aghast in blank permanence, breathing light and mechanically delayed. Her chest would jut, more than a tiny intake of breath should demand, before painful seconds of unnatural delay wormed the horrible notion forward that she didn't know how to breath. And then quickly as the intake, the escape of breath left her chest sunken and unpleasent while seconds drove by indignant. And she stared, always, she hadn't blinked once in the time Hunter had watched her. But she wasn't looking at anything. Another glance confirmed there was nothing to randsom her attention so severely. Could she not know how to breath? Could she not know how to blink or focus her eyes?

She spoke a word plainly, never moving her form or her attention. It had no inflection or suggestion of purpose. It was a word as though found in a book of words discarded by lesser creatures. "What." she said simply. It was not a question.

The word hung on the air and the woman changed not at all. But Hunter could feel the emptiness that surrounded him, surounded everything, growing somehow sharper. It was a great mindlessness forcing function forward like ripples in a lake tile finally the woman spoke "What. Does." Each word was purposeless but perfectly pronounced.

"What. Does. It."

The next words were screamed, ripped from her throat savagely while her eyes stared blankly at the emptiness.

"HEeeeEELLLLLPPPPPPMEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!!!!!!"

Emptiness coiled happily, content. All the waves were pushed together to form a question that nothing wanted answered and she repeated.

"What. Does. It. HEeeeEELLLLLPPPPPPMEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!!!!"

She turned her head to Hunter but still did not focus and the tears of her tortured dry eyes flowed while that so wrong breathing made a horrible mockery of normality.

"What. Does. It. HEeeeEELLLLLPPPPPPMEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!!!!"

That wretched scream drove Hunter to his knees. His hands attempted to cover his bleeding as the being began its horrid advance. Hunter desperately reached for the shotgun that lay beside him. Regardless of whoever, whatever, this putrid thing was, it had to die...

I would absolutely love to join in with a horror fest, but I have no knowledge of Lovecfaftian lore. Will this limit me, or can I just spew forth the caustic bile that festers inside my head?

You don't need to know too much, just join the humans in the fight and I'll post pictures of the horrors we encounter (the other guy is much better at describing than I am)

Luther came sprinting down the street, his screaming only barely audible under the mind-rending shrieks of the woman. His long messy black hair hung like a curtain around his head, his frighteningly skinny body looked too frail to lift the cross he was holding. It was an ornate metal one on a pole like in chapels, and as he closed in he swung it at the woman's head. In the split second when he stood still, he came in to focus. He was bare-foot and his clothes were merely torn rags them might have once been a black shirt and matching pair of pants. The look on his face was more like that of an animal than a man.

Hunter swore under his breath as he saw another abomination enter the fray. Thankfully, the blow gave precious silence for a few seconds; long enough to aim and fire at the womanlike abomination. Whatever head-like appendage that was making that awful sound now clearly didn't serve the same purpose, as the figure began to stagger towards him at a slow and erratic pace. Hunter beat her down with the butt of his gun and looked at the new creature staring at him. "You with the crazy b**** or is everyone in this town ugly?"

You mean Khedive? Is Rex a player, or in charge of monsters?

Luther lunged towards the other two, raising the cross above his head. He landed a few paces from the prone banshee and brought the hammer of god down on her head with a sickening crack followed by a a softer splat

Luther panted heavily before dragging his feet through the puddle of blood.

As he did this, seemingly unaware of the second man's presence, he began to mutter hoarsely to himself.

"The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked..."

As he spoke, he began to shiver noticeably, as well as his voice.

He's a little of both, he and I summon the monsters, I summon the cthulhu mythos gods and play

This is my first time RPing on the Escapist. I RPed a LOT on Dead Frontier (in the forums) but I wasn't really sure how to start here. So, I hope an open, jump in RP should be a good starter. Please tell me what I got right and what I failed at. Also, I don't have any knowledge of this Lovecfaftian lore, but I presume it is Cthulhu and friends?

The young man watched from the window. His short brown hair was thick with dust from this old building. His clothes were ripped and torn. He didn't care about any of this, and leaned out the window. He saw the banshees shot, killed and smashed. He saw the two men, one sitting there, muttering something, and the other, with the shotgun. He could not see the other's face, for he was turned away from him.

His name was Arthur, and he turned, to look at this room he was sitting in. Beside him lay a few dead dog-beasts. He had smashed their skulls in with the metal pole taken from the window. And next to him lay Angel.

Angel was always following him, but Angel never moved. Angel was a Golden Retriever, and whenever Arthur would look around, Angel was there. She would lay next to him, unmoving. And when Arthur would move, she would always stay beside him.

Arthur had long since gave up freaking out about this dog, and simply walked down the stairs, to the ground floor. Angel was waiting at the door for him. He walked out into the street.

Arthur just walked over to the other people. He sunk slowly down to his knees, and tried to speak. All that came out was a soft rasping.

As the rain washed the dust off him, he tipped over sideways. He looked around and there was Angel, lying peacefully by his side. He touched her. She was warm, as if she was alive. As he snuggled up to her, lying on the ground, he swore he heard her utter a soft howl...

So... how was I? Anything I need to go back and change? I used to be really good at this, but I haven't done it for a while and it is my first time RPing on the Escapist

Not too bad, my first time being a DM of sorts. I like where people have taken the story though

Hunter gently kicked the body of the man beside him. "Unconcious, but alive. You there, crazy preacher guy, pick him up and let's get outta here." Hunter turned for a brief second, and to his horror he saw some sort of wormhole begin to form at the edge of town. He only had the courage to whisper in awe: "Goddamn" before leading the others into the alleyway. "Now where did that crazy sniper run off to?"

Thanks man, hope this stays alive. Oh yeah, also, "Angel" will be playing a big part for Arthur.

Arthur sat up again, and Angel was gone. He was in shock. Angel had never left him! Why would she leave now?!?

He jumped up and looked around. He shouted her name, "ANGEEEEEL!!!" He spun around and saw her. She was sitting at the entrance to the alley. He sprinted to her and wrapped his arms around her. She remained still, and then moved to the right. As Arthur turned, he saw the wormhole. "Por-P-Portal! Dog-beasts!"

He ran into the alley way, Angel always beside him. He saw a old rusty ladder leading to the roof of what looked like a bank, a rotten old bank, and instead of climbing it, he yanked off one of the bottom rungs. With the piece of metal in his hands, he turned and waited.

Thanks, that means a lot.

"Easy there, pal. You aren't going to do a lot with that exept hurt someone." Hunter's voice was calm, but forceful. "Those bastards nearly took my hearing and life when I had a gun. Keep moving, pick up the damn mut if you have to. I'm not riskin' my ass any more tonight." Hunter grabbed Arthur by his arm and let him back to the others, Angel silently following.

as they moved to exit the ally the voice of the sniper rang out again, "you still stay here?! after seeing those beasts? And those are not the worse...i have seen those before many years ago!!!" then like a ghost the sniper stepped from the shadows. he appeared as a balding many in his 60's wearing an old tweed jacket over a crumbled plaid shirt, over his shoulder slung a nasty looking repeating rifle. "these bastards never went down easy as you may have noticed, perhaps you can help me" he extended his hand "my name is Jonathan Riker, perhaps we can help eachother out."

"THE LEVIATHAN DRAWS CLOSER!" Luther erupted as he snapped into a stiff pose with his cross at the ready.

"Be thou uncorrupted by the invisible hand of the adversary!? Speak quickly or feel the wrath of the ALL MIGHTY!"

As he rambled he turned slowly to face the others one by one. His eyes darted rapidly between them and his grip tightened on his weapon until his hands were as white as sheep.

"looks to me like the creatures have already shared some of their madness with that poor soul"
Jonathan leveled his rifle at Luther, "son, if you keep screaming madness and waving that little cross about like a madman, i will just as soon end you as those creatures would, ive survived these beasts once before, im not about to lose my head because you lost your mind"

Hunter emerged from the alleyway, Arthur in tow. "Knock it off, you two. Argueing is only going to make matters worse. That priest may be a piece of work, but he saved my life and hasn't done anything wrong yet. That in mind, don't let him out of your sight."
Angel appeared from the alleyway carreing the old parcel, but now it's condition seemed significantly improoved.
"The scripture of heretics!" Luther lunged for the dog with his cross raised. Arthur tackled the madman and held him down. Hunter walked over to the dog as he spoke
"Damnit Luther! It's hard to defend you when you pull s*** like that." Hunter ripped open the package, revealing a bound leather tome. It gave a sickening feel to everyone who gazed at it.
"Great, now we can READ them to death."
Luther didn't let his eyes off that tome.
