Yeah, as others have said, I think snipers actually benefit the game in tf2. They're very useful for killing medics or engineers behind the frontline, which can cripple and enemy's defence. Plus it's fun.

Being a veteran sniper of the Call of Duty series since Call of Duty 2. Snipers really aren't overpowered at all. Really if you think about it, they are at a severe disadvantage at any range shorter than 50 yards. (Quickscoping throws this balance out the window and is disgusting.)

A sniper derives his power from maintaining a good position that gives him an optimal view of the field. But any player worth his salt knows that all he needs to do to counter a sniper is stay out of his view long enough to sneak up on him. If you reduce the range between the two of you without being detected, by the time the sniper figures out you're 20 yards away, it'll be too late.

Just stay out of the open and you'll be fine.

I haven't had any experience with BC2. However, I have played BC1 enough to know that if you keep dyinq from snipers, either your team sucks, or their team destroys. Unbalanced teams are the only thing that ruin qames, and that's why the exit button exists.

Easy Tip:
USE STEALTH IT IS THE BEST
End Easy Tip.

but seriously since i have played as every class repeatedly i can say that if you keep dyinq from one person they are qood and if you keep dyinq from the whole team then they are qood or your team sucks and if you are the only person on your team dyinq then you suck

Your friend is a crybaby. Watch, I can do it too.

It's called "The Medic Principle."
1. The odds of having fun in multiplayer is inversely proportional to the number of medics on the map.
2. If a medic can ruin a good match he will make every attempt to do so.
3. Any class given a LMG, health packs, and defibrilators shouldn't be called the "Medic" class. Just rename it the "Jesus" class and be done with it (since you can raise people from the dead).

See?
I'll try.

It's called "the Patrick principle."
1. The odds of having fun in multiplayer in doubled by the number of Patricks on the map.
2. If a patrick can't ruin a good match, he will still try... but mostly likely fail.
3. Any class given A P.90, the ability to no-scope and ingnore onbjectives only to end up with a low K/D shouldn't be called the "Patrick" class. Just name it the "cannonfodder" class and be done with it. ( since more kills or easier objectives for you!)

Largely disagree. Too many snipers creates an unbalanced game, but it does, of course, leave the newly formed Team Sniper short in other areas too. I've said this before but hating a sniper for sniping is ridiculous, and not "ruining" the game; it's the same as hating a shotgunner for being superior in close quarters, or moaning that vehicles go faster than people: they are just doing their jobs. A sniper is supposed to make accurate headshots on important targets, from range and ideally concealed. Mortars and the like are a bit over the top, and should be optional or removed though.

Snipers turn FPSs into boring point and click games. I can't think of a game that's better because of snipers.
TF2.

I rest my case.
I always wondered why snipers were in TF2.

I mean, it is TEAM fortress.
A sniper can be a valuable asset in the early match as it helps you control the number of people rushing out of the gate. That said those who just run around not helping their team at all are very annoying to say the least.

Okay I used to love Modern Warfare 2, and I still enjoy it occasionally, but one of the things that gets my teeth gnashing the most is how you aren't supposed to look down the scope, no you're supposed to constantly tap the LT until the planets align just so that you get a kill. As someone who prefers to "Hard-scope" I despise these fuckers using a rifle like a shotgun. To me there's nothing quite like waiting in the grass with a ghillie suit on (and Cold Blooded Pro) tracking your prey and letting your WA2000 send a personal howdoyahdo.

And really I don't find Snipers to be that big of a problem in Bad Company 2, at least not as bad as some Assault or Medic with a fully automatic weapon waiting for me and killing me in .00002sec. Recon's can be quite helpful really, especially in maps like Laguna Presa, where you cant see anyone but wh your friendly sniper spots for you.

I don't mind snipers at all, although I am utterly useless at it. Anyone else used to play CoD 1 on the PC? The multiplayer of that had an amazing sniper map in the snow. It was great fun, and really tense, sneaking through trenches, in between trees, and round the side of snow mounds to just get to them and try and take down their positions.
Their is harbor that was the bolt action rifle map and still is very fun to play. Then there is the united offensive Foy map which was frigging awesome

Snipers don't bother me to much in games like Modern warfare 2 where a few bullets from any gun will kill you anyways. They're a bit more annoying in games where you can take half a clip to the stomach, because then they have a range AND a damage advantage, with the only drawback being the rate of fire, and anyone that puts in some solid practice time can make the probability of needing a second shot very low.

Being pinned down by snipers is definitely the least fun thing that can happen in a first person shooter.

I find them annoying not because they kill me a lot, but because it's irritating to track the fuckers down.
