"Too bad we have some underage kids here," Garrus said with a laugh, accepting his glass, "Never did like wine much, but it's not that bad in company."
"Oh, right, The Gardenator," Katie said, smiling a little. "I dunno about using a name like that, though. No offence, of course. I was thinking maybe something like Demeter. You know, the Greek goddess of the harvest, plants and suchlike."
Khrys blinks at her and says "Oh..right..Greeks...they were in that movie about that Spartan place." She giggles a bit and says "I wasn't one for the classics much..they so old and well...its hard to understand them with all that boring talk. I liked sports more."
"Garrus, they are going to be introduced to it sooner or later. I figure a toast isn't the worst way. Hell, children in damn near any Southern European country would have been drinking wine as long as they can remember. Besides, this is a toast to three things Those we have lost, the teammates and dare I say friends we have made, and to victory in the battles yet to come. If there is a nobler reason to break a law, I haven't found it yet." Richard reasoned as he continued pouring glasses.
"The law is the law here though. We're supposed to be role-models! I'm saying no to all those underage. And it isn't that many, they can have a soda or something," Garrus said as he grabbed a bag of chips from the counter, taking a few and passing it around.
"You know I'll just sneak it to them anyway right? Also, by law, it is legal for minors to have alcohol if it is on a private residence and supervised by an adult. We're adults, and for all intents and purposes, this part of the promenade is private. That particular law does not apply here." Richard reasoned.
Garrus was silent for a moment as he thought things over before shrugging and saying, "Alright then. I guess if they want to have some then it's no problem then. Heh, can't wait for their reactions at least."
Katie shrugged. "Clearly we have different interests," she said. "I'm a little athletic, but I'm not really a sports kind of girl. I was into my studies a lot before I joined the Society; writing and acting were my strong points at school." Katie looked round to Richard and Garrus, noting the bottle of wine in Richard's hand.
"'Scuse me a moment," she said to Khrys, and hurried over to Richard. "Can I just check the label of that bottle quickly?" she asked. "I'd like to see something."
"Sure, I don't see why not. Don't break it though, or vengeance will be mine, I'm planning something for that." Richard said as he handed the bottle over.
Katie quickly examined the bottle's label, and passed it back to Richard, a little disappointed. "Damn. If the year had been earlier you'd have had me to thank for it. Last year, I sold a few vines-worth of wine grapes to this winemaker to earn a little cash," she explained. "I won't say no to a glass or two, though." She laughed at that, knowing she'd be able to legally drink in a month's time.
"Alright then. That was the plan anyway." Richard said passing her a glass.
"This wine is rather smooth actually Garrus. If they don't try to chug it, it will taste like grapes in alcohol, like good wine should." Richard said as he finished pouring the glasses. He called everyone to the kitchen with Garrus' communicator before handing out the glasses of wine.
"We missed a major thing when we first arrived, a toasting to commemorate our new group. I'd like to rectify that situation. So, I say a toast to the memory of those we have lost so far, the new friends and teammates we have gained, and to victory in the battles that are yet to come. To the society!" Richard shouted before taking a drink.
"The Society!" Garrus said loudly before taking a drink of his. His grimaced initially, not used to the taste, but he quickly drank it all after a few more sips to get used to it. "Not bad, but still not my choice of drink," he said after placing his glass down.
"To the Society," Katie echoed as she raised her glass. Taking a sip of the wine, she found it to have an interesting flavour; the alcohol didn't seem to be that strong, but the taste was certainly new to her. After another slightly longer sip to get a better idea, Katie decided she liked it, and smiled briefly.
Tommy raised a glass of wine, he made sure he held it up high and behind Garrus's head so Garrus didn't see. To the Society, He thought in his head
Tommy then took a sip, savoring the taste before he gulped it down with a smile. Being sure to stay out of Garrus's immediate line of sight.
Edited: Changed it, now Tommy didn't talk just think.
Jason looked in each of his teammates faces before raising his glass.
"To the Society." He said softly before putting his lips to the wine glass.
The taste of the wine was new to him at first, causing him to take the first sip out of reluctance, but eventually he got used to the flavor and smell of the alcoholic drink. He looked up from his glass to see his teammates.
"So...we faced our first real villain (one of which, is practically semi-omnipotent)...what's next? where do we go from here?" He asked.
"Wherever it is, i'm sure we'll be ready to take it on and succeed." He thought with confidence.
Khrys looks disappointed then perks up at the drink, getting herself a glass of wine she raises it in a toast adding her voice "To the Society." taking a deep drink, inhaling the scent and checking its quality.
Grabbing a pair of crutches, Simon made his way out of the infirmary. He looked allot better than when Richard had found him laying on the floor bleeding and unconscious. A few white bandages were wrapped around his head and his one leg was in a cast, cuts and dark bruises covered his skin but he felt allot better.
Hearing the talking coming from the dining room, he made his way in
Khrys gets a glass and brings it to Simon offering it with a bow saying "here you go, just dont get falling down drunk..your an old fogie you could break a hip." Grinning and giving him a wink.
