Tommy was shocked but he understood what had to be done. He threw down a smoke pellet and was changed into his costume. After adjusting his mask, and then taking off his vest and belt, he began making his way to the door.
"I'll meet them first, I don't think they can hurt me, but if I meet them before they get too close it will buy you guys time to come up with a plan while they beat me."
As Tommy exited the Promenade he saw the rioting crowd, he wanted to turn back, but Golem kept on a straight path. When he got close to the crowd he saw them carrying pipes, stones, tools, and some even had guns. A shower of rocks were thrown at him, Tommy wanted to bring his arms up to block them, but Golem was compelled to keep his arms down and accept the full force of their fury. The rocks bounced off him, bullets deformed on his skin and dropped to the ground, cinderblocks broke across his chest. Every time Tommy wanted to run, he took a step forward as calmly and as sure as his first ones out of the Promenade. When he was a yard away from the front of the crowd he stopped. The crowd moved forward, enveloping him, but leaving a ring of space around him. It was silent. He could feel their anger, their sense of betrayal, seeping into the air. Someone shouted.
They poured over him like a wave, beating him with pipes, punching him, and spitting on him. They screamed words like 'Freak', 'Traitor', 'Monster', and 'Pig'. He stood strong, wethering they're blows and insults, Tommy wanted to lash out and fight back, but Golem knew he had to take it. Finally they knocked him over, he fell to the ground, but merely lay their, feet together, hands at his sides making no effort to resist. As they stomped on him and hit them until their arms and legs grew sore and they let someone else take over.
