The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

Simon smiled coyly

"Relax Khrys. Its early morning. I'm sure these fine folk see people appear and reappear all the time"

And with that he quickly walked forward, told the sleepy looking employee there orders and soon re-approached with two bags of food.

"I decided not to go for drinks. Ready to go back?"

Ignoring the others for a little while, Katie finished eating and started thinking to herself. She needed to keep her mind off the problems the Society faced, or those that they might face in the near future. The oversight law in particular scared her slightly; she didn't want the government watching her every move. It seemed to her that the law was another of the many controls they had over her life.

She began thinking of things she could do to try and prove to the government not all supers used their powers in a destructive way. Good deeds relative to her plant-manipulation abilities sprang to mind. Donating large quantities of freshly grown produce to every charity in the city and helping maintain places such as the park in Green Everest seemed the best ideas. Katie decided to start work on those as soon as possible.

Richard could tell Katie was deep in thought, and due to the day's events he could guess what it was. He lightly slapped her shoulder to get her attention.

"Hey, the government isn't about to start installing cameras and tracking devices on us or pass laws discriminating against us. That breaks constitutional protections, specifically the fourteenth amendment. The most they could do to affect our lives on a daily basis would be we have to fill out a registrar and carry an ID just like any other government employee. You've already done that anyway, your application, remember? The only add on would be the ID and the fact you may have to answer to a panel if you damage the city. There is also the implied right to privacy blocking the government from monitoring you twenty-four seven, so calm down." He explained, hoping to alleviate what was so obviously troubling her mind.

" Besides, I already live with worse than that, I have to speak to Patriot on a regular basis. Makes me almost wish I could have this deal instead." Richard joked with a smirk.

Katie laughed quietly at that, but quickly stopped herself. "Thanks, Richard," she said. "I wasn't planning on damaging the city any time soon. Instead I was thinking of ways I could benefit the city without going out and fighting crime. Things like growing loads of fruit and vegetables to donate to charities, or helping to preserve natural parks, that sort of thing. What do you think?"

"Will probably help your image at least. It may not help with those of us who are known for destruction currently. Right now people are probably suspicious at Garrus for the Earthquake, whether he did it or not isn't the issue, pissed at me for lighting an entire district on fire and cut off water to the city, and Aaron for the water and freezing those plant workers. Gardens and the like may even help the society's image as a whole, but people probably won't feel safe without knowing we answer to somebody." Richard said from where he sat after contemplating it for a few minutes.

"I say do it though, I may be wrong and it sure as hell can't hurt."

"I'll get started as soon as I have some free time," Katie answered. "What charities are there around the city I can donate to?" She began to plan what produce to grow, and how much of each. Considering it was bordering on winter, maybe more summer fruits than things that could be grown easily in the colder season would be best. Depending on how much she created, Katie knew her ability would be tested by her plans. It took a little more effort to grow fruits and vegetables if they were out of season.

After finding himself spaced out for a while, Jason came back when Richard began to talk to Katie.

"Speaking of which, why can't Patriot do anything to avert this law? I mean, not only is he a superhero himself, but he's also the goddamned President! If this law is passed, then he'll probably get in deep shit when they find that he's a super. They might just impeach him." Jason said sternly before leaning over to Katie.

"We can talk whenever you're ready." He whispered to her.

"Well Katie, you have all the major national and world organizations to choose from, and any of them would accept it." Richard said before speaking to Jason.

"Patriot can't do anything because he is the president. He cannot be impeached for being a super though, as being a super is not and cannot be made illegal. The most they can do is bring it to light and have his approval rating take a nose dive. On the other hand, he can't stop the bill because he can only persuade congress on how to vote and veto the law should congress and the house pass it. Though congress can actually override the veto should he do so if they can get a two-thirds vote." He explained.

"You forgot me Dona." Richard said.

"I didn't say I wouldn't play if that's what everyone decided on. Should be a decent team building exercise, I only said there are other things that deserve our attention as well and probably more so."

 

[Souldemon8]

Aaron finished one more pastry before collecting his notes and heading out to his room. He threw his notes on his counter and changed into some of his workout clothes. He made his way to the gym. He made his way to the leg press and started small with 80 lbs.

Simon and Khrys suddenly teleported into the room, each of them holding a bag of McDonalds

"Hey guys"

Simon said with a grin as he bit into an Egg McMuffin

"Whats going on?"

Jason looked up from the conversation to see Simon and Khrys.

"We're gonna play Capture the Flag. You two want in?" He asked simply.

"Sure. What are the teams?"

Simon asked, tossing the wrapper of his sandwich into the trash and started on the next one, flopping down onto one of the nearby couches

"Y'know, we haven't really established that yet..." Jason replied to Simon, rubbing his chin.

"...But I call dibs on you, Katie, and Khrys!" He adds happily.

"If we're playing this game, I'd rather call dibs on Dona and Simon. That would be a truly unbeatable combination." Richard joked quasi-seriously.

"Well duh, that team would be a total hax! I mean, all Simon has to do is teleport to our side and pick up the flag, while all our minds are being altered by Dona! That wouldn't even be slightly fair!" Jason replied with a laugh.

"That's why I would pick the two of them. Between them, they could beat the rest of us without so much as lifting a finger, and I prefer to be on the team that wins when my convictions don't get in the way of my doing so." Richard said as he chuckled.
