The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

"If it'd be anyone, it'd be you," Garrus said with a chuckle, kneeling down and sending another shock wave into the ground.

"There's a big room three levels down. Though I think the group coming from the left should be our first priority," Garrus said to everyone.

"Alright, what do we know of this professor guy?" Tommy asked while scanning the walls of the hallway. When he heard Garrus he nodded, cracking his knuckles, he moved to the front of the group.

"Let me go in front, if they got guns I can give you guys cover."

 

[CounterAttack]

Katie clambered down into the hallway, rejoining the group. She began to extend the armour from her left arm to cover the rest of her body, creating a sharp edge to use as a blade from the plant covering her right hand. She quickly created the last of her armour, almost completely encasing her body, and said, "Don't worry yourself, Tommy. I got this." She advanced slightly ahead of the others, her shield up to defend against any ambush attempts.

Jason jumped in after Katie, bringing up the rear. He smiled proudly as he watched her advance to the front of the group, admiring her bravery.

"That's my girl." He said happily to himself.

"Well Tommy, this guy is 'Professor Mordtoten'. Works for the Union, blah blah. I actually swear I've heard his voice before, maybe when I was hanging around with Leland. And that's about all I know. Wasn't much about him in the file," Garrus said staying in the back as some guards rounded the corridor and opened fire.

Katie was forced back a few steps as the majority of the shots impacted on her shield, but she found her footing and held it. Not wanting to kill her assailants, she turned the blade in her right hand into long vines and sent them at the attackers. One vine tripped two, and they were knocked unconscious as their heads hit solid ground. Another caught a gun and pulled it out of its owner's hand, throwing the weapon into an adjacent room.

Ignoring the others and concentrating on the guards, Katie advanced further down the hallway, knowing she could deal out better attacks if she was closer to her target.

Richard moved behind Katie and opened fire from behind the barrier. Two men dropped to the ground as both guns mounted on his shoulders opened fire. He didn't bother to hid himself as bullets dinged against and ricocheted off his armor. He continued the advance with Katie, and unlike her, he didn't care if these guys died.

Having never seen a human life lost, Katie stopped moving, frozen in shock at Richard's actions. Her vines retreated, wrapping around her hand in case she needed them later. "You... you're killing them," she murmured softly, her eyes fixated on the dead or dying.

Gunfire snapped her back to the present, and she resumed defending herself from the remaining guards. One of them was smarter than the rest, concentrating on her, the weaker enemy, instead of Richard. He was attempting to hit her weaker points instead of the obvious shield, aiming for her legs to try to incapacitate her.

A shot tore through Katie's shin armour, snapping the branches, but it didn't hurt her. She flinched and sent her vines out to deal with the pest, knocking him out with his own weapon.

"Yes, I am killing them Katie, and they deserve it. To knowingly defend a man who is developing a virus that could very well lead to the extinction of the human race, I'm simply carrying out the sentence any jury would give them. I don't have time to fight these idiots, if Mordtoten releases that virus, humanity is all but fucked. None of us have an immunity to what he is creating, and it will become a new plague upon mankind." Richard said as he continued to kill guard after guard, he had no sympathy for these men. As far as he was concerned, they deserved none.

Golem ran around Katie and her shield and towards the guards. As soon as he broke cover they focused fire on him including the one who had broken Katie's shin armor, when he got a close a guard unleashed a shotgun into his chest. His costume ripped but the shot bounced off the skin of his chest. Reaching out he grabbed the shotgun and the sub-machine gun of the next guard, then throughing the guns to the wall to break apart as soon as they made contact. After he made contact he swung his arm back in a long sweeping arc, sending several guards flying into the wall with a crunch, which was part cement, part bone.

Each and every death burned its way into Katie's mind. And each one would have its own consequences. These were most likely people with families, wives, homes, children, pets... And now they would never see them again. Though Richard spoke true, Katie couldn't help but be horrified by his callous action. Her right hand now holding a branch club, she advanced to join Tommy in the melee, incapacitating guards instead of killing them. She knew she did not want to take a life unless she had no choice.

Jason watched as the three took out the guards,keeping his eyes glued on Richard as he killed one after another. He snapped back to reality as he saw Katie get shot.

"Wait a tic...why aren't I fighting?!" He said to himself before running towards Richard.

Using him, Jason jumped on Richard's shoulders before vaulting off, sending him flying towards the guards. While in the air, he put his feet foward, driving them both deep into two guard's faces. The force of the blow sent both of them off their feet and flying into the wall. As they collided with the concrete, he backflipped off them, landing close to Richard.

"Geez Rich, the least you can do is save some for the rest of us!" Jason said as he jumped back into the fray, joining Tommy and Katie, delivering slashes and stabs upon the unfortunate guards that dared to oppose them.

"Maybe if you all didn't stand there with your jaws dropping, you could get a few yourself. As I said before, I don't have time for these idiots, so I'm going to kill every one of them that gets between me and Mordtoten. If that means you all don't get a piece in the name of expedience, so be it." He said as he continued. Their progress was slow, this guy had to have a bunch of guards, but at least they were getting somewhere.

Forget us, if he could just leave some for the Paramedics... Golem thought grimly as he walked to his next target. He was quickly growing disgusted with Richard, such a disregard for life, maybe he really was just a CEO in a power suit.

As brutal as his movements looked Golem wasn't out for blood. He kept his attacks low, and away from the chest and head, focusing on the abdomen and legs, and occasionally arms.

A guard swung high with a billy club, catching Golem on the side of the head, but Golem didn't even flinch. He quickly grabbed the guards fore-arm and squeezed it until he heard a crack, then a quick knee to the stomach made the guard double over and pass-out. Perfect, he's out of the fight, and in no shape to continue when he wakes up, just slap some cuffs and leave him for the cops.

Jason didn't even bat an eyelid at Richard's killing tendancies.

"I've seen a shitload of deaths when I was still with the corps, some of which, I did myself. But...I left the corps so I wouldn't have to kill any more. Rich can kill if he wants, but i'm only gonna injure." Jason thought to himself as he took out another guard.

As the fight progressed however, Jason unintentionally found his hits to be harder, wilder and vicious than before, almost in a matter similar to when he fought Drake. One little guard found himself with a claw around his neck. The grip began to tighten, and the sharp claws began to puncture the skin. The guard began to thrash around violently and gag loudly as Jason began to crush his windpipe. The sight caused a devilish smirk to come over his unseen face.

Garrus had sent a quake at the guard's feet, sending them up in the air and making them easier targets. Once this group was taken care of Garrus sent another shock wave before saying, "We have stairs over to the left, then we have to head down another hallway before we get to the next set. Not sure where we go from there though. Heavy resistance down below."

"Fine, the sooner we can get through these rat bastards and can destroy the virus, the better. I'll kill every single one of these guards if I have to if it means we can keep that virus from killing billions." Richard said as he continued to fire and move forward.

 

[CounterAttack]

Katie knocked the wind out of another guard, dropping him, before turning to look at the staircase Garrus had mentioned. Jason stood between her and the way down, choking another one of their assailants, possibly to death.

"Jason...?" Katie asked in slight fear, before she quickly became locked in combat with another guard, who was armed with a military combat knife. She bashed him in the face with her shield, but he attacked back with a series of wild stabs. Katie punched him in the solar plexus with her shield arm, and the guard fell, but not before driving the knife deep into her armour in return. The branches were thick, and the blade was an inch short of touching Katie's skin. She ignored it and continued fighting, trying to clear a path to the stairs.

Golem flinched everytime he saw Richard gun down another guard. He turned to Katie and gave her a note it was quickly written due to the urgency of the moment.

 Rich go-in 2 Kll evry1. You -> Weaken floor with plants. I-> Punch through. Rich-> skips grds, goes thru shortcut.

Jason shook out of his trance as Katie called out to him. As the guard slumped lifelessly to the ground, Jason looked at his hands in shock, one of which had blood coating the fingertips.

"What is wrong with me?" He said, worried, before looking towards the guard. He kneeled, checking the guy's pulse. It was faint, but he was still alive. As he looked back up, he saw Katie with a worried look in her eyes and a knife stuck in her armor. He fought his way over to her, helping her clear a path after pulling the knife out of her armor.

"Thank you for that Katie, I probably would've ripped out that guy's voice box if you didn't call out to me. Are you okay?" He asked in between punches, dropping the knife, and deflecting bullets.
