An aside...

I'm shocked at how TGWTG is just coming apart at the fucking seams here. Apparently there were all these underlying grudges and old feuds we knew nothing about, and now they're all surfacing at once to shatter the whole group! It's like Guns and Roses only without talent!

I'm shocked at how fast they all just IMPLODED and turned on each other the SECOND that the whole E3 thing went south. Jesus. Apparently a shitty trade show was all that was holding the troops at Channel Awesome together.

If ANY site went under literally over night I'd have expected it to be Reviewtopia but apparently I was wrong.

4) None of this is the fault of Lupa, JO, Nash, or any one person. This is a business decision. Don't point fingers. Don't be like the crazy fans (like the ones that are giving Lupa death threats) that can be akinned to members of 4chan.[Quote/]

Any questions?
In response to the 4Chan insult:

> Reads post
> Sees 4Chan joke
> By members he means All Channers
> Implies that all Channers are Crazy
> Implies Mods/admins/moot (the closet thing to members) are crazy
> Thinks to self "he clearly lives under the impression that everyone on 4Chan is a Basement Dweller"
> Wonders why on the internet there's so much stereotyping
> knows one can be a furry without being Gay/autistic/lifeless/sex hungry/Draw Furries
> knows one can be a brony without being gay/perverted/lifeless/into bestiality/Male
> knows one can visit /b/ without being a basement dweller/in computer class III/A hacker/A loli enthusiast/Alpha/Gay/Lifeless/immoral/Male/able to fap to CP/A troll
> knows one can be a Critic on Channel Awesome and be Funny/Charming/Humble

My point is that your jab at 4Chan was unfunny, Ignorant and out of place. At the very least it could have been worded differently or directed to the Insane Clown Posse. (yes i wrote all that, just so the payoff would be a bad ICP joke. I blame Magnets.)

Anyways, ON TOPIC for a change. It seems to me that some people on Channel Awesome (with the inclusion or LardKat) are being spiteful/rude/ect in response to Spoony's bind rage, should Realize this. Spoony is still a person, sure he said that he was willing to kidnap and rape a Woman, but the dude is medically depressed and apparently has heart problems. Yes he's being a Major Asshole, but this Person needs help, after all he never was like this before. As anyone can tell, our Cheery old friend has taken a turn for the worst, the last thing he needs is thoughtless antagonizing. Not to mention that he's the one who's Sick and they're the ones who are either perfectly fine or LordKat. Sure Noah isn't innocent, but they aren't exactly doing anything good when they antagonize a man who's lost his job and medically Depressed. In this situation, everyone loses.

That's my walls of text, I just hope Noah can keep his sanity and that his fans don't egg him on to do episodes.

This isn't quite another ScrewAttack, if the Nostalgia Critic was Doug and a slightly less version of Doug, and the first Doug left but Lesser Doug tried to carry on without and failed horribly due to the lack of dynamic... then it'd be another ScrewAttack :p
You have it backwards sir; slightly lesser Doug left to be horribly un-entertaining, while greater Doug stayed behind but was never quite as entertaining as when he worked with his inferior counterpart.
Well from my perspective

- I only ever really saw them as a pair, which I liked
- One half left and I didn't really follow him after that
- The remaining half floundered
- I assumed that he was the lesser for it
- Stopped following him too

So it's entirely possible that your analogy works better... but they still get the idea across :p

All of this considered I`ll probably just side with linkara (mostly as I see points with both sides) and take the Tom Cruise approach of appreciating the work of people I don`t always agree with.

Argh! This is all so nuts. Why do the people who make funny videos online have to be such monsters behind the scenes? I just have such a hard time believing that these talented individuals can be so petty, vindictive, and small in real life. It's very sad.

And then Verion 4 happened and shit got cleaned up

Shit got better with the New ScrewAttack and now they have a bunch of shows hosted on there. Partners or not they're all pretty good, with the exception of Newsroom, Seriously it's like Jared and Lauren just thought of a joke and made a shitty build up for that joke. Also they cover all gaming news now (along with misc geek/pop culture), not just the 2 minutes of hard news. They're also the latest home to Extra Credits, which was one of my favorite shows on The Escapist.

Anyways, I realize I've gotten really off topic.

I'm going to stop now.

Verion 4?

What's that a sequel to Macron One? /sarcasm.

On topic: this whole thing spiraled out of control so quickly it's almost painful. It went from a comment on twitter to a guy getting fired to Lupa and Phelous going all Handsome Tom in probably a couple of hours.

I think that Channel Awesome set a land speed record for implosion via petty squabbling.

You know what they say about the Internet: Whatever you say on the Internet, stays on the Internet...forever.

The comment is...creepy, but creepy has been used multiple times in comedy. The folks at Planet Awesome are constantly entrenched in using comedy, so I'd assume this sort of comment was bound to surface among themselves. Looking at Spoony's original comment, it COULD imply rape...or...perhaps just S&M. It's crude stuff, in bad taste to some, but I've heard worse.

Actually, the rape seemed only implied after Spoony's alleged sarcastic apology, when he used the term himself. This means that the original crude comment may have implied rape after all...or maybe not, we'll never know unless the information is disclosed.

Should Spoony have been more polite? Perhaps. I don't know the people he works with. This kind of language may be the norm for them. Did Lupa overreact? Perhaps. The comment, after all, was not directed at her. The receiver (JesuOtaku) has more justification for outrage, but so far I've heard nothing.

As for Spoony's personal health issues, it's his business. He'll choose to sort out what he wants. If fans are concerned, just support his work and shoot him encouraging messages. Hell, send encouraging messages to Planet Awesome about more work from them in the future. Just keep negative comments to yourselves; don't talk about the argument, just business.

Also yes, Film Brain is incredibly annoying, but he sort of fills a niche. I'll still throw his stuff on in the background if he's talking about a movie I'm aware of.

She has come so far from being "Girl Nostalgia Critic".

And yeah Doug's schticks are getting a bit old, seems to happen to everyone that sticks to a format sooner or later. I do really like when he does the out-of-character top X specials though.
problem is

1. over sumarzing becomes really boring, partially if your not familiar with what they are doing

2. weaker jokes that rely on "wtf is going on here!/wtf is that!" really fall flat when your thinking "well thats probably because x..."

3. the better jokes are the ones that point out something clever/analyse somewhat..I mean his reveiw of Twister is my absolute favourite, and I think it works because he really digs into the ridiculousness of it...rather than blandy summarize and throw in some jokes/mugging at the camera

well its hard to explain

Well personally I'm happy for Spoony getting out of the hive of scum and villainy known as TGWTG, hopefully now he'll be able to do what he wants without having to appeal to Doug and the legions or crazed fanboys over at TGWTG.

I have no loyalty to either side, but unless there is some important detail left out of the argument it seems pretty clear that Preggler started this on purpose, perhaps even counting on Antwater not being in his right mind.
I don't think Noah has been in his right mind for quite some time, to be honest.

He really should just change his persona to The Loony One instead.
Like I said he's been bath-salts-zombie crazy ever since Scarlett cheated on him (or so I heard) so it stands to reason if you want to push someone over the edge and get them fired he'd be the best target since he's decided to build his home on the tip of a cliff to begin with.

Frankly if I thought enough of Phelous and Lupa to think them evil geniuses I'd say this was almost...planned? Kinda? Or more a case of "gone horribly right" as someone else said.
I dunno how much of the rumors about Scarlett cheating on him are true, but it was after they broke up that he began his apparent descent into madness, that much is clear.

And yeah, it certainly seems like Allison was kicking a hornets' nest with the intent of stirring something up.
(Phelan... I'm not so sure about, he seems to be joining in the argument only to defend Allison)

There's no way I'm buying that she was just speaking out against Noah because she took offence at his joke. If she was so horribly offended, she would've said something a month ago, when he made the joke. This must've been stirred by something more recent, prompting her to suddenly find his past comment offensive enough to be worth digging up again to start some drama.

I find his Animated movie reviews the best. the OTHER animated titanic was fuckin' hilarious. Same goes for others like Quest for Camelot, care bears....

Also, nothing will beat his team up with the AVGN on the TMNT music review.

He still has laughs stowed away but I think he needs a new joke, something along the line of "of course!" where my favorite.

1) Spoony was not let go from TGWTG for what he said to JO, nor Lupa. He was let go because of fan complaints on how he was acting during his suspension.
Sorry, I just don't buy that.

2) A lot of producers, both TGWTG and non-, have "neutrally" weighed in on the subject ie given how they see it without specifically picked sides. The general consensus amongst the "neutrals" is that they understand the decision by TGWTG, but hope that Spoony gets the help he needs and feels better.
Suggesting he needs "help" is not a neutral position. He has always been a snarky guy, suggesting he needs help because he's acting like the snarker he is is simply passive-aggressive nonsense.

It is Lupa's fault. She took an old, stale bad joke and made it into a big deal. If JO was offended it might have been one thing, but she shrugged it off and didn't seem to care. Seems like Lupa was fishing for a fight.

You do realize that he's been acting very oddly since he broke up with Scarlet, right? It's not exactly a secret that he keeps from getting into his videos, either. Just compare his videos in 2010 to those in 2011. Saying he needs help is stating the obvious, not being passive-aggressive.
