Joking about raping a coworker sounds like a firing offense to me.
It's not in good taste, but considering what kind of stuff they say in their videos(including joking about rape), would depend on what kind of a relationship they have, and how it would be taken.

I get why they canned him, but they really shouldn't pretend it was a business decision. If it were purely business, Lupa would've been fired over Spoony since, let's face it, he's probably a bigger draw to the site than she is. That is assuming anyone really needed to be fired over this.
But if he really did something in E3 that made other people related to Channel awesome lose chances for interviews(I have hard time finding info on it, though), that would be something I'd fire a person over.
I really don't know what personal issues there are behind this, but I don't believe Lupa planned this all to get rid of 'competition', as some people are suggesting. That would be stupid of her(since Spoony bringing traffic to CA only benefits Lupa), not to mention people don't generally act like evil masterminds.
If anything, she have had a grudge against Spoony, for what reasons, and whether she was justified, who knows.
But this is a result of many different things coming together, sounds like this has been building up for a while.
EDIT:
I've tried to find info on the E3-thing, and it seems like that claim came from Lord kat who claimed he was refused interviews because of Spoony. Which I'd take with a grain of salt.
And if it's for his 'betrayal'-rant, doesn't seem like it hurt Angry Joe when it came to getting interviews. Or Spoony.
In any case, this is about more than just one tweet.
