*shrugs* People idolize veterans, and MaxTheReaper was here for a long time.
The thing is, Max wasn't a veteran. He was a regular poster -- a
reeeaallly regular poster at that, but a regular poster nonethless -- but he was by no means a veteran. I mean, you yourself joined and started posting before MaxTheReaper did, The_Oracle. Max was only around for a year before getting banned and when you consider that users have been able to make accounts on this site since late 2006 that doesn't seem very long at all.

He I think lost it in a thread and was reported but since he had already stacked up a fine list of suspensions and stuff like that, he got the boot.
He did have a history of mod wrath behind him, but what pushed him over the line was when he was put on probation for a post, that probation was increased to a suspension for another post he made
whilst being on probation and then they found the post he was banned for in his ban history. But yeah, he did have a history of mod wrath since about June/ July. That was actually quite strange seeing as he was one of the few users to get over 5000 posts with no mod wrath back then.
Nice guy I am sure, I had a few conversations with him myself but I fail to see what everyones fascination with him is. He is no different from anyyone else, was it his massive post count that makes him special.
He can't be as special as Neonbob though. Neonbob is just made of awesome jelly.
In most cases, it's simply massive post count and what they write being entertaining. Users like Max, Neon, xMetatr0nx, NoMoreSanity, pimppeter2 and more recently users like Furburt, IdealistCommi and Fat Man Spoon got famous on this site for heavy posting (and usually appearing on the first page of most threads as well if not the first reply) and the sarcasm/ comedy of their posts. Bacause of that, people view them as, as you said, being 'made of awesome jelly'.
On topic, I couldn't really think of anyone I would consider being weird. On the Internet I don't think any standards could be thought of as weird, when you consider the content of the World Wide Web.
