The TF2 Sniper's Huntsman: Overpowered?

So, I was playing Team Fortress 2 last night with my friend, but our fun was somewhat marred.

When we booted up, we realised two things: 1) The sniper slot was always full, and 2) Everyone who was a sniper was using the huntsman.

Now in my personal opinion, the huntsman is extremely overpowered. It boasts instant crits to the head, but that's pointless when it is fully charged in around a second with enough power to kill if you are anywhere below full health (or full health depending on what class you are) and is abused constantly, and is practically an instant-kill up close. With even basic skill with the weapon, you can kill scores of people in minutes.

I think that one class should not be able to dominate the field with such ease, and hopefully Valve will do something about it, like they did with the ambassador in a mere few days when they found out that weapon was considered to be overpowered. Me and my friend just said to each other 'this weapon is practically a game-breaker.

So what do you think? Do you agree? Do you disagree and think I'm just making unnecessary noise and clogging up the forums? Discuss.

I agree. The sniper used to be my favorite class because it was all about that critical moment now its more like shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot. I hope they change it.....

Sorry about my input being completely invalid but I've never even so much as tried TF2 but everyone seems to praise it. How does it work? Is it like Battlefield where you earn exp for kills and can get better weapons as you go along?

I agree, The Huntsman is overpowered.
Valve will probably fix this issue in a matter of days.

damn, i went to get this game for the second time today, as my old copy is already installed on my old busted PC, and the vendor at game said "I'm sorry, i can't sell you this." Even though i'd bought the EXACT same game at the EXACT same store not a few months ago!
games are good, but GAME employees are below retarded cockroaches on the intelligence scale.

Oh, and if it's a sniper, then im all for it. who cares if it's overpowered? we still have f*ck all health.

It's not overpowered as such.

The problem is it's hit boxes are too big. The hit box for the Rifle seems to have been expanded as well, I've been making one-hitters that were miles off the target's head.

It'll probably be fixed soon, with any luck Valve won't over compensate like they have done with the Ambassador.

Its a bit too versatile, thats all. Snipers shouldn't have close range ownage (unless they have uber aim)

You don't need to rebuy TF2, to re-installed it, Steam does that for you.

Same boat, sad but true.
I'm in that sinking ship as well, dammit.
Fourth'd, sadly. One day, guys. One day.

On topic, I'm sure they'll patch it sooner or later. I mean, from what I've gathered the game is still very well balanced, even after all the updates and weapons they've released over the past year or so. If it really upsets the balance of the game, I can't imagine Valve not fixing it.

If you're paying attention it's not that hard to avoid a relatively slow moving arrow, especially at close range. I like the bow, but it's not that great unless you're firing into a packed hall of people running constantly passed, otherwise against moderately skilled people it's quite easy to constantly miss.

TLDR - Huntsman isn't overpowered because arrows don't move that fast and it almost forces the sniper into close range where he's weak.

I haven't got it, but from what I've seen rifle is better. The hunstaman has a logner shooting time and can be avoided. It's also quite inaccurate apparently.

To be honest, I got the bow today, and was rather let down.

IMO, its the sniper rifle again, 'cept with bullets that are affected by gravity and are a bit slower, and without a scope. Plus, don't think about running and gunning (bowing?), the crosshair's a bit reluctant to point you in the right direction.

And its not an insta kill. I full powered a Scout in the chest and it didn't kill him. And, since its designed to make the sniper get a bit closer to the action, it should give a bit of a health point boost, like the backburner.

One plus, it certainly makes for a more satisfying headshot.

No, there are just preset character types which can be selected at the start or on each respawn, each with different weapons and abilities, and a limited number of the types available per team. These presets have been undergoing a major overhaul recently, to provide a more interesting balance.

I've not been that affected by the sniper upgrades, I'm usually a Spy and Jarate has only caught me cloaked once and the bow is dodgable, so I can't say I think they're overpowered. If anything, the decoy body and regenerating cloak has scored me more kills than before.

Why wouldn't he sell you a game? That makes no sense.

Well, you aren't old enough to buy it, so they have every right not to sell it to you.

EDIT: Wait, maybe you are, what's the age rating for the Orange Box?
Teen, I believe. I don't think they even check age for anything below Mature ratings.
