For me, it's a girlfriend. Emo? Oh yes. That's one of the things I hate most about it. It will constantly bug me, and bug me, until I simply HAVE to mention it to someone, then I sound emo as hell. Fact is I ain't. I'm 20, gorramit. I didn't have the nicest of childhoods. Now, I start talking to her over the summer. I'm not the hottest guy, but I like to think I'm not hidious (being able to speech spanish, build computers, play guitar, and being an Eagle scout with a bad reputation doesn't hurt either). About half way through summer, she stops texting me back, I don't hear from her at all. When school starts back up I find out she's with a lower classman. Not only a lower classman, but a plain, kind of chubby guy.

The argument that you are far too ugly to have a girlfriend is firstly illogical and secondly sexistic. But you are only 20 years old, so it's okay. At your age I used to say even bigger nonsense. It is illogical because not only handsome men have girlfriends, take a look around you and you will easily see my point. Also good appearance isn't the only reason that can lead two people to a relationsip, but mainly their mutual desire to be together. Appearance plays a role ,but it's just one of the many. And not all people share the same vision about their lives, or how they want their partners to be.

It's sexistic because women seem to be absent from this equation. Women have feelings as well, insecurities as ours, and not all of them are beautiful. Women are not the prize for a man to claim. At least it shouldn't be that way.

Actually, I haven't seen many ugly people in relationships. I struggle to think of any. I've seen below average, sometimes fat people in relationships but not really my standard of "holy Jesus, what the f*** is that?" ugly. Maybe I just live in the wrong area. Or maybe the ugly population evacuated without telling me. I've never understood how people would be attracted in the first place to unattractive people. That would require talking to them, and why the hell would a girl talk to me for long enough to gain that kind of relationship? The only scenario I can think of that happening is in a workplace, and I know practically everyone in my uni classes, and getting a job is ridiculously unlikely (I'll be trying, because people don't just get jobs to get a girl, of course) so that ship has sailed.

And as for women, i know, but it's simply not logical or realistic that someone would be able to see past my looks. And besides, I don't see many ugly women. Maybe my standards are simply different, or maybe they simply don't go out much because of what they'd have to put up with; Ugly men get jokes told about them, ugly women get full on abuse, I can't say I blame them.

Being nice on the outside aswell as on the inside. I mean, im known as nice to people... After they have been around me for over a year. Initially I seem like a twat unless I try really hard not to.

Also, not sounding intelligent. That is really a problem, there is a lot of shit I dont know. So sounding like I know everything is really, really annoying. I mean, why does everyone think im good at math because I have a big vocabulary? In the first half of the schoolyear I had half a dozen people (least seven or so) ask me for help with math homework.. When I was like, the only person in class who really needed help with his homework.

Last but not least, know why the hell that one friend of mine punched me in third grade and then left the school never to have any kind of contact with me again. Know the reason, I never will. But its so damn stupid, I've just settled with me having wronged him in some way.

And, youknow. Being interrested in clothes and going out drinking and being able 'not' to sit on several different forums doing most of my day. I just cant force myself to be interrested in those things. At least I've gotten so far as to be able to drink one.. Maybe two beers. And buying my own clothes instead of just wishing them for the different gift-giving occasions.

I certainly wish I was a bit taller. Barely 5'5" and I'm a 17 year old male. I know I probably won't stop growing for a few more years but I'm losing hope, dammit!

I think this is the part where you make your mistake "it's simply not logical or realistic", see when it comes to the kind of relationship I assume you are looking for logic doesn't really play much of a role. I'm not going to lie to you and pretend it will be easy. Being less attractive then others will most definately put you at a disadvantage when looking for a girlfriend but just because you are disadvantaged doesn't mean you can not succeed.

This might sound very cliched but the biggest issue of yours is that you seem resigned to the fact that you will not get a girlfriend. As soon as you start thinking like that it really will become impossible, simply because you stop trying. And if you don't try it doesn't matter about the odds or the chances, it won't happen. All I can really say is keep trying. I wouldn't say I am ugly but I'm certainly not much of a looker myself, I have been rejected before and will be again in the future. But if it takes me getting rejected 1000 times to find the girl I'm looking for I will be ecstatic to reach 1001 and I certainly won't be thinking about my previous attempts at that point.
