Getting tossed around like a sack of hay in Dynasty Warriors. I have never felt this angry and frustrated at a video game like this before.

Borderlands... Yeah those of you who have beat the game know what's in the spoiler tag...

I honestly don't think I've ever been at a loss for words with a video game until the end of this game. I still don't really know what to say about it even now... I just... It... Octopus!?... Satellite!?... Interplanetary... What!?

A little more seriously though, Dead Space...

I really liked Niccole, her character design was cute, I liked the voice they chose for her, so I really legitimately wanted to rescue her. I knew something was weird when she started saying "Make us whole" though... And when you figured out Niccole was dead, I had an authentic "WTF!?" moment. Boy that was a great game... Then they went and changed her design and voice actress in Dead Space 2 and now she reminds me of my mom... Smooth one Visceral...

Dead Space 2 also invoked an emotional reaction if you include how freaked out I got trying to beat the game on Hard Core difficulty. I went through the first 10 Chapters without saving, so anytime I died on the first disc (I was playing on 360) I'd have to start all over. You want to be legitimately scared? That mode is definitely for you.
I agree with you on all of those. I was legitimately surprised at what happened at the end of Dead Space 1, and I.... I was just ticked at the end of Borderlands because for some reason I just found myself hating it.

Dom's reunion with his wife in Gears of War 2 was surprisingly tear-jerking.
I thought, although this one was really good, the whole part where you find Tai was the one to really pull the heartstrings. Poor guy...

OT: Aside from the aforementioned GoW2 stuff, probably the part in Fable 2 where the bad guy goes to shoot you and the Dog jumps in the way. I was so going to take the cash until Theresa said I could get my Dog back.

Mass Effect 2. I was female Shepard and had to decide for the romantic thing if to be with Garus or Thane. I actually stopped playing just to think about it.
This reminds me of a discussion I had, where we concluded ME2 would be better if, instead of just some straight romance options, there was an option to have a lads night with Garrus, Thane or Legion to Omega, where they end up drunkenly wing manning you to a patron of your choosing. That might not have quite fitted in it's place, but would be awesome.

I am ashamed of myself for forgetting that part.

Jesus, that game really was well made.

Shadow of the Colossus. Two things. One. Killing the colossi that weren't trying to hurt me ie: the flying one in the desert. It's just peacefully flying around and I had to kill it. Two. The death of Agro(fuck I'm too tired for this to fully think but I think that's the horse's name). I got really attached to my horse. And after I lost my horse my first play through I wouldn't touch the game for a month. I still do that. I know its going to happen and I still can't help but not play the game for a month cause of the death of my horse.[sub]I've never felt more like a girl before in my entire life[/sub]

I only just got Final Fantasy III (VI) and I only just made it to the Phantom Train.

...

I think that's all I need to say about that.
My gosh, that was tied for the second saddest part of that game. You're in for quite a treat. Final Fantasy VI is incredible.

OT: Rogue Galaxy. A lot of people just found the entire game to be a cliche, and a lot of it was, but the tears flowed when...

...the cast was pursuing their drigellums (little balls of energy formed when someone finds peace with themselves in their hearts; I know, I know). The nice thing about this was that it allowed each character to have their own climax to their character arcs. When Jaster, the main character, went to get his, he talked to his younger self and the man who raised him. That man asked grown Jaster if he had realized his dream, and Jaster replied that he had indeed seen space, and it was incredible. He was fulfilled. To which his younger self replied, "Your dream is just to go into space? That's boring!" Jaster was taken aback as his younger self explained that he wanted to go into space so he could explore new places, discover new things, and help the galaxy with those discoveries. Jaster had been so caught up in his adventures that he had forgotten the true end goal of his dreams. That was good.

EDIT: Actually, I think finding Maria and finding Tai in Gears of War 2 are better examples of this, since I was not expecting great storytelling from that game. Gears of War had some great story concepts and hinted at a deeper backstory, but refused to actually go into any of it and, as a result, was a very shallow and forgettable story. The second one wasn't exactly Mass Effect, but they did a much, much better job.

SPOILERS FROM FF6

The end of the Phantom Train part where Cyan sees his family and everyone from Doma boarding. Also from the same game when Cid dies and Celes contemplates suicide, then when she sees Locke's headband on the bird.
Same here. Had me in tears when I though Celes was going to die just like that.
Also, the ending. I though Terra was going to die too, but instead she just becomes full-human. Nice ending, unlike other Final Fantasies (I'm looking at you two FF7 and 13). ¬_¬
Terra's Orphanage. Sweet.

Oh! The obvious one; The death of Aerith. Waaaah!! TToTT
Okay, both of you. Memorize this code.

Mass effect spoiler AHOY!!

The first time I did the final mission. I lost miranda, grunt, and jacob. Just seeing the Cerberus coffins as I walked past was very powerful. In most games, they die, but just seeing the coffins and knowing it was because I let them down really hit me.

In DA:O in the city elf orrigin (female in my case) My charachter wasnt exactlaly as thrilled as her fiancee about getting married to him, but he was nice enough

anyway when she gets kidnapped along with the other elves he comes in trying to save you and gets killed

anyway thats the REAL thing however is after its all over and you get recruited and all that..you have a "wedding ring" in your inventory.....its just a weird kind of thing, It didnt feel right selling it even though you can, I actually held onto it in memory of him, even though it was obvious my charachter didnt actually love him

that and in Red faction Gurrella I'm having moral delemas..aparently doesnt earth need the rescources on mars? I mean I feel for the people who are suffering on earth..I know this is kind of silly, but it feels kind of like AVATAR when if you think about it the main charachter is pretty much say "nah fuck earth, I wanna live with the blue people!" but Im sure its not the same thing here

In Super Mario 64 when you encounter Yoshi, I was so happy to see him but when he disappeared off of the roof and when I could not follow I burst into tears, I was about 10 at the time.

Wheatley's betrayal in Portal 2 hit me really hard. It was the first time the whole betrayal twist had actually felt like a betrayal, because I'd genuinely become attached to him and because it obviously wasn't premeditated; things just sort of happened that way, and up until that point he'd genuinely been trying to help me. I couldn't help but break down crying when he apologized at the end. :(
Everyone I know felt nothing at that final scene those heartless jerks

In God of War 2, when you accidentally kill the last spartan. I realized then that Kratos is the last spartan, and I felt sad. But it didn't take long for that to turn into rage, and made me want to slaughter Zeus all the more.

Weirdly, a couple of things from Saint's Row 2. I re-discovered them while finally playing the game through without cheats:

When taking down the Brotherhood, the mission where their gang kidnaps Carlos and drags him along by a chain behind one of their trucks. The cutscene when you stop them but he's already dead is just... I didn't even like Carlos that much but it still made me sad.

Again, the Brotherhood missions. When you kidnap Maero's girlfriend Jessica and stuff her in the trunk of a car before Maero crushes it with his monster truck. It actually made me hate The Boss a little bit. Killing her yourself is one thing, but making him unknowingly do it then walking away smiling to yourself while he mourns for her is just twisted.

Aisha dying to save Gat's life, then him getting stabbed in the ensuing fight scene. Even though Aisha didn't do much in the story, her getting killed by that Ronin chronie was pretty damn sad.

At the graveyard, where Gat just beats the shit out of the kid who was running the Ronin then stuffs him in a coffin and buries him alive.

This would have been for me too, except for the fact that i happened to have left a boom shield on the exact spot where his wife is, so he delivers all his lines to a shield and hugs it and everything. I lol'd so hard.

Sorry, but I figured with games as old as Final Fantasy 6 and 7 the people who don't already know what happens will likely never find out as they are probably not fans. That said, I didn't know the spoiler code until not too long after my post.

By the way, do you know how to change the text in the spoiler box? I don't want it to read "Spoiler: Click to View".
