I am personally hoping for the Riddler in the next film. I mean look at http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/File:Riddler_009.jpg and then think of David Tennant, as like a Barty Crouch Jr kind of character, would that not be great.

If they do The Riddler, I think someone said earlier they should cast Hugo Weaving.

Someone also said that Helena Bonham-Carter should play Harley, should she be used.

I agree completely, because I am a sheep.

I also agree completely because Hugo was good as V and Smith (Earlier guy also said this.) and Helena did a good insane as Bellatrix.

i saw this batman villan that had every kill etched into his body, he looked into the eyes of a homeless man after getting fired and realized LIFE MEANT NOTHING. not sure of his name... mr Zazz i think, or at least starting with a z. he would be a decent villain.
It's spelled "Szasz"
'Zsasz', you'll find. He's not a bad choice, for all intents and purposes he's simply a serial killer.

Keep in mind the 'Police to test new enhancement drug' news that scrolled along the newsbar in one of the special features. Bane?
Zsasz was already in the first movie though, in the courtroom scene where Bruce has the gun with him.

And my vote goes to Bane as well, a smart guy on "steroids" that can give the Batman a run for his money sounds realistic enough for this series. Or possibly Prometheus, the "anti-Batman" but he might be a bit too obscure for the general public.

....Y'know, thinking about it, if we need to show a good substitute for The Joker, there is Harley.
Yeah maybe as like a personal vendetta thing against batman.

The Riddler.

Think about it. A severe revamping of this character can move him from camp wacko to incredibly dark, schizophrenic psychopath.

I was under the impression that Nolan has sworn that he will never make a Batman movie with the Penguin in it? Maybe my friends are lying dirtbags.......
I heard that too

They should give a shot at the ridler and make him dark

Bane or Black Mask...actually I dunno about Black Mask, my friend says he's sorta kinda ripped from Wanted

Well, if the do use the Riddler that can up his insane quota by making him pull some Saw jigsaw shit.

They seriously need to put in the... crocodile was his name? They could pull some wacky shit and make him seem realistic, maybe some kinda disease or something.

Riddler should be used, but revamped. Basically make him the Joker's polar opposite. Completely cold, ruthless and humourless. Someone totally psychotic and sadistic who leaves clues, some real and some false, at every crime scene.

Also, I think that they should just take a complete left turn and portray Batman as the villain. Most of the film should focus on Gordon and the Gotham police force attempting to track down the Riddler, with their only option being to turn to Batman, who has a reduced screen time for the first half of the movie or so.

The other option of course is a story loosely based on The Dark Knight Returns, where Batman retired after Rachel's death, but has to come back years later. And he should be played by Clint Eastwood.

I'd like to say that I'm a bit confused as to why you attached a spoiler warning to this. Is it possible to spoiling something that's completely unknown from the future? Or is it for people who haven't seen The Dark Knight? If that were the case, it's been around long enough for everyone to see it by now.

Aside from the Joker simply being recast (which I believe to be likely), Riddler would probably work... in my opinion the guy already has the earmarks of a really gritty character, wouldn't need much to amplify that to a Nolan-approved level.
Bane might also work, provided they can get someone credible for the role, a second-rate actor won't do. I know he was portrayed in B&R as a guy with utterly no personality who's as dumb as a post, but Bane is actually a smart guy...
And props to anyone who mentioned Hush, he'd certainly make for an entertaining villain!

-- EDIT: Is it just me, or could anyone else see John Cusack playing the Riddler...?

I think the Phantasm could make for an interesting villain in the third movie, and presuming it somewhat follows the movie Mask of Phantasm, could also fill the Rachel void of love interest
