Well, my battery died this summer, so like five minutes, but when it WAS working, it lasted for two hours. I want to get an Extended life battery for it, which should last at LEAST 4...
Mine lasts for 5.5 on a non extended battery.

This is true..... But then, i guess i only really need one HDD. 200GB would be enough
More than enough. Mine is 140GB and I have FLCL, Deathnote, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam 00, porn, and a few emulators with games.
well this may be true - but. I have over 60GB of games to install alone, the OS takes up 20GB or so, and i have more then 1TB of movies, music and TV series on this very computer, many of which i will be watching and have watched. http://ameatypie.deviantart.com/art/Desktop-Screenshot-004-104601465 Have a look at a screenshot! Well, I've got a 250 GB hard drive, and that's more than enough for me. I doubet I could fill that unless I really tried.

You should see my desktop HDD, it's 500GB and filled with games, movies, pictures, music, even more porn, and all my college work.

The first couple of pages of this thread are ridiculously pointless to everyone who respects actual convosations and frowns apon pointless argueing to which no one will back down.

In my responce I would have to say my Netbook is preferd - its just a personal choice though. Whatever floats your boat.

Im certainly going to carry a fair chunk of it around. 3 weeks of entertainment at once! Of course, because the school is really strict, I will only get like 3 hours a day of free time. At the most. And alot of that will be spent studying etc.

You should see my desktop HDD, it's 500GB and filled with games, movies, pictures, music, even more porn, and all my college work.
500GB? a PITIFUL 500GB? Pah......

I remember when computers came with 1GB hard drives, and before that, my first computer had a whopping 80MB. People are spoiled today with regards to hard drive space.
I actually installed an 8 MB hard drive into my desktop because I needed the space. We aren't spoiled in terms of space, files are getting larger and more space consuming. I mean, I grew up using my grandad's old Apple II, and that thing didn't even have a hard drive!

I really like netbooks, I'd love to get my hands on an eepc.

The tablet I have now is great. I love it. I can write faster than I can type, so all i do is fire up one note and just write to my heart's content. Its a pretty decent machine. I'm not running all the latest vidja gaems on it, so it doesn't have to be super powerful.

I really don't care for vista too much, if they did something to make it boot up like 3x faster, then I'd love it.

Its an HP tx2525 if you're curious about the specs.

You could always suspend it or something.

Some company made a notebook that writes the suspend state to EEPROM and brings the system back up in, like, four seconds. (It'll still take you that full minute to reboot, though.)

Seriously, please stop with the witty comments my sides are splitting.
All I said was that the first couple of pages were a big arguement to which no one would back down.
I didn't mean any offence so don't take it that way.

As my first post alluded to, this thread was started partially so we could get off someone else's thread with our child like whining :D

easy answer:
one powerful stationary, one powerful laptop, one netbook. i'd be able to get this for 2000$ or less in the US.
