So, to get this on track (once) again, apparently that old Toshiba Tecra that I have, which I thought had only 256MB of RAM, turns out to have 512MB, and I only noticed it when I was booting up Linux from GRUB. Double the memory that I thought it had, but still no graphics acceleration, and the WiFi still doesn't work in college. I'd curse it, but I think I brought it on myself for using Debian on a computer which was never built to support Linux instead of something easier like Ubuntu or openSUSE.
