The world's hardest (and longest) quicktime event(s): the torture scene in MGS: Peace Walker. I managed to do it the first time, then I died 30 seconds later in the next scene. The damn thing didn't save after the QTE. My hand was too tired to do it again and after a few attempts that game got the finger, and I refuse to ever play it again.

Also, every game that shares the "get behind cover" key/button with the run key/button inevitably leads to a bunch of these moments, because they didn't think I might want to run in and out of cover.

And we can never forget the final boss in Silent Hill 3. The entire game is perfectly balanced to play on "hard" difficulty, and then the final boss fucks everything up. I found a trainer online to give me god mode and infinite ammo, and it still took 10-15 minutes to kill that bastard.

Super Meatboy because some of its levels are designed without considering human stamina or reflexes. Heck most of them are. Never finished it.

Natural Selection 2
When the marines just throw a absurd amount of arcs into the alien hives, and even behind walls they will shoot some magical ghost bullets that go through it, destroying the entire hive within 2 or 3 shots, or when the aliens all evolve into onos.. onoses.. oni and just charge into marine spawns.

Just no way to stop any of those, once they get the resources to do it then its game over.

I tried it and almost immediately stopped playing it (and returned to X3)
Why?
Because difficulty skyrockets and even with best equipment you get killed almost immediately
Seriously- enemies with equipment equal to yours or worse can sustain and inflict much more damage than you
I suspect that AI was cheating (and I don't like it)

Any bug that screws up a mission/objective is liable to make me say "Fuck this game" and stop me playing it for a day or two.

XCom when the enemy gets a bullshit critical on a target they should have difficulty hitting anyway.

Games where I get screwed over by terrible controls and have to redo something. Ico is a good example of this.

Halo 4 Legendary difficulty on solo, purely because of bullshit checkpoints. You could play for 20 minutes and not get one, replay it and get two in the space of 5 minutes.

Games that destroy saved games. Dragon Age 2, Fallout New Vegas and Batman Arkham Asylum all had this issue. All three of them I went back to and beat eventually, but the games weren't as enjoyable because of it.

I have never beaten GTA: San Andreas because I got to a mission that required me having $50,000 to buy something, and you couldn't proceed without it. So I stopped playing.

Shadow of the Colossus. Played it for the first time a few weeks ago. Goddamn that camera is impossible to control.

Finally managed to shoot an arrow at the first colossus' foot and it's health bar decreased by about 0.005%. Fuck that game.
That's because it is set to invert by default, although seeing as it claims up for up and left for left is invert. You go into the pause menu and make the camera change to normal (for Western games) and it's no longer an issue.

The bow is not meant for killing them. It's meant for getting their attention, hitting weak spots to get them to react in certain ways, killing lizards and getting fruit from trees. The sword is the only way to kill them.

In other words: You played the game wrong.

Assassins Creed 3, the last mission. Not that I didn't finish it without the optional objectives, but it was kinda lame, stupid, anti-climactic for a last mission.

Mirror's Edge - An unmitigated disaster of a game. So bad it's the only game in my memory I've returned to the store to get a refund for sucking so hard. Not even a screw the developer here because that would be to acknowledge this crap.
Heh, for me it's the complete opposite. I thought the game was awesome. It had a few (minor) flaws, but those never bothered me.

- People keep (mis)jumping to their deaths? I've played the game on hard without runner's vision and I never fell much.
- Combat system is broken? Maybe, but I see it more as an obstacle parcourse, not so much as combat. I also never did fire a gun (except for the sniper mission). It didn't seem to fit with the whole idea of the game.

Those two complaints I hear the most. Maybe it's different for you though.

You wheren't using countermeasures/keeping full stacks of Nanobots/Shield Batteries at all times. It's definately beatable. Hell i'd say X3 is actually harder.
You mean spamming Nanobots/Shield Batteries all the time? did it
Countermeasures? Not as often as I should, but also did it.
Nothing of that helped, and that was the easiest difficulty, dammit.
Was the story any good?

X3 is hard when you fight on your own
BUT
You can build your own combat fleet and drop it on enemy
While your characters sits in his dreadnaught, observes battle and sips wine from oversized diamond glass >:D

Stormrise - While the game was problematic, reaching the third mission turned the game into a nightmare. Units used their abilities on the wrong targets, became completely unresponsive to what I told them to do and...well, let's just say RTS mechanics don't work from a Third Person Camera FOR GOOD REASON. It was so horrendous that despite paying a measly £3 for it, I took it in a few days later to demand my money back - something I have never done before or since with a game, especially with such a meager amount of money. How this game hasn't appeared on TV Tropes' "So Bad it's Horrible" page I have no idea, as the game has not one redeeming quality.

DOTA Games - It's all fun and games before you run into the "LOL, N00B" crowd. And this happens in 90% of the games I sign in for, EVEN BOT GAMES O_O

MGS4 on Big Boss Hard mode: The final battle with Ocelot

Now, I realize when you play on the hardest difficulty of a game you're playing with everything turned up to eleven so to speak, but COME ON! I get all the way to this point with (relatively) little trouble, only to fight the motherfucking Goku of the MGS universe! One of his punches is equal to at least 3 of my punches, I can't break his block but he can break mine and all of his attacks interrupt my actions but none of my attacks interrupt his. The triple damage thing I could maybe deal with since bosses almost always deal more damage than the player, but having un-interruptable attacks while interrupting all of mine and breaking my block while I can't break his is just not fair

Erm, this one isn't really warranted. You're not supposed to use arrows to begin with, ya know. If you were listening to Dormin (that voice in the sky), you could've figured out the steps to take down the colossus, no prob.

OT: The only time I can recall getting frustrated to the point of quitting was doing Stage 6-2 for the first time in Ninja Gaiden (NES). Those blasted birds...
