I don't support anything, I'm just asking questions without the "benefit" of seeing everything through "orange-man-bad" tinted glasses.

It takes two to negotiate.
No, you're not just asking questions. Very explicitly not, and also it leads to a specific angle, you're not actually inquiring to figure anything out, you only ask questions in such a way that you're arguing with anyone who doesn't support your conservative hero

Wait, can we talk about how he just took people who are struggling financially hostage, as an election promise???
Yea, and notice how he put " hardworking Americans and business owners" Because in his mind those who lost their jobs due to the Pandemic lay offs and who were sick and still trying to heal aren't included there at all because the unemployed will STILL be left out even if he wins. To him, they aren't hardworking even if they were working 3 jobs prior to the pandemic.. they don't exist anymore in his eyes.

This election is even worse than 2016.
What did they expect letting this scum bag in office in the first place? Notice how the unemployed were not included in his promised stimulus if he wins? He has no intention of including them at all here. He LOVES to make people homeless remember?

He sees this as a good thing, not bad..
The GOP just want to welfare for the rich and make the poor die tbh.

Trump thinks we can all just get "small million-dollar loans" from our fathers to tide us over.
And if you can't then you don't matter to him and he hates you because you are " dirty and poor" and he despises the poor.

I would think that walking away from the negotiations is a way of fixing it. Instead of wasting time, you can do other things, and then when the other side has a more reasonable offer, they can come crawling back.

Works all the time in car dealerships, or so I've been told.

Neat. Do you have a source on that? I know nothing about why these numbers were chosen.

You usually post all sorts of links and copy-pastes from articles.
Yea we did that months ago for the first stimulus.. It is buried here somewhere but we have slept since then..
That was the reason why the GOP passed it in the first place.

I remember from the first stimulus, I got a check for ~1K.
Nothing about weekly checks. But maybe I haven't been eligible because I'm not suffering any hardship?

Are you saying that "walking away" was the reason it was passed, or an eviction crisis was the reason it was passed?

Wait, hold on, isn't there already a moratorium on evictions until December 31st?

Or is this just a suggestion that states don't have to follow?
It has no teeth, they are still evicting people because there is no enforcement. We had a thread on that a while back where our local lawyers weighed in. It isn't stopping evictions at all.

Millennials and Genx pay a higher percentage of their income for housing + they have been denied the ability to have savings. So in states where the state only pays 50% of their income, they can't pay any of their other bills at all, so they have been juggling only paying part of their bills/food/ rent this entire time. The $600 allowed them to barely make their bills so anything less was making it so the evictions would happen anyhow and they still would not be able to get another apartment because 1) no job + 2) they won't rent to people with an eviction on their record so they are forcing them into homelessness. People are supporting families on these unemployment incomes and like around here they are paying $1200+ in rent then they have to pay electric, water, car payments, car insurance, health insurance, trash, sewer.. so even with their unemployment they are not making their other bills and have to juggle them not to have their electric or water shut off. If they lose their current housing they will not be able to even find another place that will rent to them with no job, so they will be homeless.

Fuck Millennials, it's their problem. If they wanted money, they should have been born earlier.

The $600 was for unemployment because states only pay 50% of your previous income which most people can't keep a roof over their head with that due to millennials and gen X paying a higher percentage of their income in housing. It is still based on what baby boomers paid and their ability to save. The same isn't true for gen x and Millennials so they become homeless because 1) no one will rent to you with no job + eviction on your record.

And so many of millennials and gen x don't even have the option to move back in with parents anymore so they just become homeless now.

Or is this just a suggestion that states don't have to follow?

"Despite all of this, Houston-area housing court judges are moving forward with evictions.

With 600 eviction cases on Harris County court dockets this week, renters, landlords and judges are continuing to grapple with how to navigate the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention national eviction moratorium that went into effect over two weeks ago."

The Virginia Poverty Law Center told WFXR’s sister station on Thursday that people in the commonwealth are still being evicted.

It takes two to negotiate. Casting blame on one side for not agreeing with a proposal seems silly, to me, is all.
You indeed need 2 to negotiate, the person who walked away is getting the blame. Trump is the one who said no more negotiation until election, not Pelosci. Hence Trump is getting the blame. Straightforward.

By that logic, Pelosi walked away from 1.6 trillion, didn't she? I'm assuming she's in charge of the other side.

It's like if you want $200 bucks for something and I want it for $20. Do I get to get mad at you for refusing to negotiate? Or is the fault my own for going too low?

I'm pretty sure the 1.6 trillion went to poor people, while the rest that the Republicans wanted went to businesses. So your analogy doesn't work. (I dont think the Dems were asking for 1.6 trillion but I cant remember the number off the top of my head.)

A better analogy would be a pig trough. And only letting the big fat pig eat and making sure the hundred others ones were banned from eating
