So my Mum and Dad just told my brother that Santa Claus is not real. He was asking to many questions about Santa and the letter he wrote and when you want the truth well it hurts.

He is crying atm and is trying to say my dad is lieing.

So my questions to you is: What age were you told Santa/tooth fairy etc were not real? What was your reaction?

I was told about the tooth fairy after all my baby teeth had fallen out and I was told about Santa when I was 9. I didn't truth my parents after that for a while.

Do you think parents should lie to there kids about Santa? Why?

Is there any moments in your life where you wish you were not told the truth?

I was around 7 or 8. Over here he's called Sinterklaas.
I really didn't feel to indifferent about it. My first question was; Do I still get presents?

Long story,

I have an older brother (I blame him for the reason I play games instead of sociallising like normal people my age and gender). Well when I was young, like 7, he woould insist on trying to stay awake and prove Santa was a lie. He would fall asleep every time! Well I wanted to prove to my bro that I was cool and told him I didn't believe either, so my dad went 'Oh screw it, He ain't real'.

Lets just say I was scared for life...

ALso, I can't remember what age I was but my mum was in crutches. I had lost my tooth and my mum came into my room while she though i was sleeping. She called my name and I was way too tired to respond so I ppretended to be asleep. I could hear her hobble up to the pillow and put money under. Personally I was too tired to give a dam : )

I think the idea for a lot of parents, is for the kids to grow out of the deception. Personally, my mom and dad never actually told me. By the time I was about ten, I had just kind of grown out of the myth. I mean, if you don't figure it out on your own, there are your school friends who are all gradually starting to second guess it as well.

The lie isn't meant to be cruel. It's a concept to a) keep kids honest and b) help enrich the spirit of holiday. After all, who doesn't like the idea of a jolly, friendly grandfather type leaving you free gifts for being a good kid?

Anyway, to this day, my mom still tries to pretend that Santa is alive and well. She's really the spirit of Christmas in that household.

I was smart enough to figure it out at about 8. But my only question was where did the letters go then? answer: a drawer of my dad's files.

When I was 2 or 3, I think.

Knowing that Santa was Daddy didn't really change anything for me.

I think it was just a joke when I was about 5

my family all knew he wasn't real, but it was always 'be nice or Santa won't come'

Well I figured it out by myself and to be honest, it didn't bother me that much, no idea how old I was.
I have previously wondered, if it'd be better to never let my kids believe in Santa, then I figured it's best to give them a few years of really magical Christmases. Seeing my 5 year old niece on Christmas day was enough to make me realise that it's worth that horrible period when they do find out.

I found the presents when I was like 8, they all said From: Santa To:.... I hid under my bed the rest of the night, mostly because i was afraid i'd get in trouble... I was not really all that traumatized from the incident

EDIT: and from that I was able to figure out everything else was fake..... Come to think of it I was a smart little kid.....

i just gradually cottoned on. Eventually I confronted my parents about it, and they spilled. Nothing really changed.

I don't really remember ever believing in Santa, I think my mum told me when I was young, but, like I said, I don't remember.

It wasn't something I ever really thought about, I got presents but that was it.

Know one told ever told me. I was very eerily observant as a child and figured it out for myself. LOL-I thought my parents were have fun playing make believe so I just went with it.

Santa is real. I met him in Hawaii. He was taking a helicopter ride over the big island with Mrs. Claus. I swear it.

I don't know really. I figured out that Father Christmas (I'm English) and the Tooth fairy wasn't real before I was 9, but I can't pinpoint the exact moment I knew. I guess I just pieced it together from stuff I noticed.
