Honestly, noone did tell me the truth, I just kinda figured it out on my own. I actually set up a little motion detector around my fireplace on christmas eve when I was seven, it never went off. Thats when the doubts began, and I eventually realized it was all a sham, but I was Ok with it, because I felt like I had just solved a great mystery of life.

I knew that there was no such thing as a tooth fairy or Santa Claus when I was three or four. I suppose I never believed to begin with, but it never made me sad.

My parents gave it away on accident one morning when they told me Santa was American, but they had a sign written from him in Russian so I just accepted Santa wasn't real. I was 8 and wasn't really too upset. It was more of an oh type feeling.

Never believed in Santa, the Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, God or any or imagined creature, so didn't affect me in any way.

I found about Santa quite skillfully. By skillfully I mean I put sleeping pills in the milk. Mwahahahaha.

Woke up next morning to find my dad laid out on the floor. Many tears and laughs were had that day.
That is the greatest thing I've read all day. You sir, win a cookie of most epic proportions.

OT I can't really remember when I figured it out, but my parents enjoyed it, so I let them keep going until they finally told me and my brother.

I dont usually accept cookies from strangers. But that is one amazing cookie. If you know where I can find that please tell me as I would love to eat that in the middle of a busy high street dressed as Bowzer.

When I was told Sinterklaas (the Dutch version of Santa Claus) didn't exist my first taught was that it explained a lot: mostly the inconsistant portrayal of St. Nicolas in the media and how the hell an old man that rides on roofs with a horse manages to give presents to all children in the country (except for a few poor Turkish schoolmates whose families didn't celebrate the holiday). I can't recall being mad at my parents for this or something like that, probably because most other kids were being told the same. I also really wanted to preserve the myth for my younger sister (who didn't take it so lightly when my parents told her).
