Prince of Persia the Sands of Time and Portal.
I own Prince of Persia SoT, and have played the flash version of portal, but stopped play PoP SoT around the 80% marker, and never made it very far on portal, for the same reason. Frustration. They are puzzles, which I am not very good at. With some games, you can learn new combos, or train more, or just stock up on ammo or something depending on the game. But puzzles generally only have one combination, which I am not good at finding. Well, prince of Persia I stopped because I got tired of dieing during the fight in the tower.
*shrug* Different opinions. I have no idea about the flash version of Portal. Maybe it's not very good. But for me Portal itself is a near perfect game.
As for Prince of Persia SoT I think it's the best game I've ever played for a few reasons.
First, it has the best platforming I've ever seen in a game. In fact, it's simply unmatched. No other series has ever created the same feeling of flow while still being challenging and varied in it's platforming. Not even close.
Secondly, It has two of the most believable characters I've ever seen a game, the Prince especially.
Thirdly, It's the only game I have ever played that got a love story right. Most love storys in games are soppy at best and annoying at worst. Helped greatly by it's characterisation SoT manages to create a love story that is believable, funny (something thats missing from most love storys) and tragic.
Theres many other reasons as well. The story is one of the few I know of that is actually better in the retelling, meaning I play SoT at least once a year. Then are the interesting puzzles, which where a great and interesting way to break up platforming sections and combat. Then there is the combat, which, while it's the weakest point in the game, is still very enjoyable.
I will say that I did get fustrated at PoP SoT the first time I played it (especially the lift) but I like a bit of fustration playing games. Not the fustration itself, but the feeling of relief when you complete a petically difficult stretch is the best feeling you can get playing games, for me at least.
