try this bad boy out for size ^_^
"it would make a very videoable spectacle, assuming you didn't fuse the video camera of course! A convenient Faraday cage like a car parked 50' away might make a suitably safe recording platform."

I like this man's style! Good luck to him, 'cos I ain't going near one of those contraptions without an insulation suit like the Shocker from Spider-man :)

Um. Emp anyone?
The same thing has always crossed my mind, I really don't get why it's almost never used in ANY sci-fi despite the fact that the technology has been around for a while.

EMP that doesn't rely on a nuclear blast... so an arsenal of EMP warheads that utilize explosive pump flux compression generators. However, if the robots have radiation hardening or other forms of EMP-resistant design, then we're kind of fucked, though bullets have never been too kind against metal armor.

or just drop an EMP....

you know, instead of looking for technology we dont have yet, we could just...well...use the one we do?
Actually we don't quite have EMP weapons at the ready yet, no matter how much MW2 wants you to think we do.

While the EMP looks good on paper, it would not be very effective in reality. The problem with EMPs is that you can't control what gets turned off. We could very well doom ourselves if it is not used properly.
What could work, however, is some kind of jamming signal. If we stop the robots from communicating with one another, they will be comparatively easy to kill. Another way is to attack their stronghold at night. Why at night, you may ask? Because they will inevitably have some kind of night vision technology. Night vision works by sending out infa-red light, which is invisible to the naked eye, but can be picked up by ordinary devices. With large infa-red flood lights, it is entirely possible to render their night vision useless, at which point they could be easily taken out with normal weaponry.

I don't play mw2 actually I never played any fps that has emps in it. Or any games that have it ...

Way to assume

Sorry, man. I never meant it in a bad way.

super advanced spaceships that take years to bulid, only to be blown up when nearing completion to kill some robots.

Non-nuclear electromagnetic pulse (NNEMP) is an electromagnetic pulse generated without use of nuclear weapons. There are a number of devices that can achieve this objective, ranging from a large low-inductance capacitor bank discharged into a single-loop antenna or a microwave generator to an explosively pumped flux compression generator. To achieve the frequency characteristics of the pulse needed for optimal coupling into the target, wave-shaping circuits and/or microwave generators are added between the pulse source and the antenna. A vacuum tube particularly suitable for microwave conversion of high energy pulses is the vircator.[32]

NNEMP generators can be carried as a payload of bombs and cruise missiles, allowing construction of electromagnetic bombs with diminished mechanical, thermal and ionizing radiation effects and without the political consequences of deploying nuclear weapons.

OT: In all seriousness, anti-matter. Unless they are anti-matter robots, in which a gentle breeze should suffice.

EDIT: Almost forgot. Say "Pi equals 3".

A nuke.

Why would any sane person risk taking them out one at a time?

Nuke all the facilities and bingo, world saved, positive use for nuclear warheads, and instant gratification for the big fat governments. Hurry!

Yes, smartass, I've read that Wikipedia article too. You will find that the US arsenal does not have such bombs and missiles. No doubt we will eventually but not yet.
