I took the piss out of the Americans for electing Bush.....twice!

But seriously, if we choose to elect Labour again, we'll be a fucking laughing stock. Yeah we all know that politicians are in it for themselves, you don't get to that level in that line of work without stepping over people and not giving a shit what people think.

But Labour have had 13 years and have done nothing but screw this country up, their time for blaming the Tories for everything is done, and they have noting left to fall back on. Crime, education, immigration, public transport, healthcare, roads, foreign policy, economy...........all screwed. What's the problem with giving someone else a chance? Hell, it can't be any worse!

Labour - No, just no

Conservatives - The only people that stand a chance of beating Labour, but headed by an Etonian idiot!

Lib Dems - Out of touch, no chance of victory.

UKIP - Only really one solid policy, the rest is a but of an unknown.

BNP - Will gain seats due to protest votes, but they really shouldn't :/

Greens - No!

On a side note, whoever guesses who made the following quote gets a cookie!

"A weak currency arises from a weak economy which in turn is the result of a weak Government"

I am going to vote for the labour party, because despite all their faults (of which there is many) I sincerely believe they have the best interests of the country at heart unlike say the Conservatives who seek only to line their already full pockets.
It's your right to vote for whoever you wish, no matter how stupid that vote is.

Yes I will vote and no I won't tell you who for what I can say for sure is that it will definitely not be for Labour they have systematically destroyed this country, from their piss poor immigration policies through their erosion of our basic civil rights right up to bringing the country to it's knees financially through a combination of excessive public spending on useless and meaningless quangos and non jobs and their idiotic and unsustainable borrowing policies. To list the number of f*ck ups that have occured under labour would require several posts and as of now they have NOTHING that we have not heard before, f*ck even their election statement is the same one they used two elections ago.

I like the idea that maybe Labour will drop back to being the third party like they were back in the early 20th Century, having a rotation between Conservatives/Lib Dems would be a nice change. But I can dream, I can dream...

I think the only reason i don't like gorden is that he was put into power with out the use of an election. Maybe i wouldn't hate him so much if an election was thrown when Tony stepped down, if he wins this election then I guess he has the right to lead the contry.

So it will probably be a coin toss between Labour and the pirate party if i can vote for them down here in good old Devon.

Rumour has it that Ed Balls may have let the election date slip, apparently it will be held on or around May 6, but don't quote me on that. Anyway I will most likely vote Labour, for reasons I can't be bothered to think of at the moment.

I'm planning to vote, sure given the sorry state of our politics at the moment, I don't think I'm going to enjoy it.

I don't know for whom I'm going to vote just now. I know it won't be Labour. They've crossed me too many times now.

Erm shouldn't this be in the "religion and politics" forum?

I'm either voting The Legalize Cannabis Alliance or Lib Dem. Brown and Cameron are both twats but i guess i'm gonna have to get used to cameron huh? he's gonna win. let's just face it.

Not necessarily, the opinion polls have changed dramatically in the past few weeks, in fact one has put to Conservatives only 2 points ahead but giving Brown enough seats to form a minority Government.

Thing is, Prime Minister isn't a directly elected position, it can be whomever the Party in Government wants it to be. But people these days tend to forget that they are voting only for their own MP which is where the whole "Unelected Brown" thing comes from.

IMO, the only parties who deserve to win are the Lib Dems, UKIP or the Socialist Party. And I'mma tell you why;

Labour and the Conservatives don't have policies. They might claim to have policies, but let's look at the facts shall we? Labour has repeatedly lied about their manifesto, going on to sometimes do the exact opposite of what they've said. Cameron has effective turned the conservatives into Labour 15 years ago. The only difference is that Gordon Brown hasn't won an election. They've effectively turned the election into a popularity contest, counting more on people voting for Brown or Cameron than what the parties actually stand for.

The Greens and BNP, though I'm undoubtedly going to offend some environmentalists here, I don't overly care, are both fascist parties and it's the duty of the voter to prevent them getting seats in parliament. (I don't mean to say all environmentalists are fascists, but the Green party definitely is)

Which leaves us with the other 3 "big" parties.

The Lib Dems are the centre party, they've got my vote. You probably know who they are so I won't bore you with the details.

UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party) are the only moderate Right Wing group left in the UK IMO (I don't think the Conservatives are really right wing anymore, they're more into appeasing everyone than actually having policies). I'd vote for them, though the constituency I'm in is divided between Labour and the Lib Dems, so... yeah...

The Socialist Party (aka "Socialist Alternative") is to Labour what UKIP is to Tories. They're Trotskyists, I don't pretend to understand every facet of Socialism, so I'll leave it at that. If you're planning on voting for a proper left-wing party you probably already know what Trotskyism is, if not, then you probably don't care. (s'all Marxism to me)

I haven't included Plaid Cymru, Sinn Féin (sorry if that comes out wrong, it's acting up in the preview box), DUP, UUP or the SNP, as they can't really form a majority government (AFAIK Plaid doesn't run for seats outside Wales, ditto for Sinn Féin, DUP or UUP and North Ireland and the SNP and Scotland). Not to say they don't deserve voting for, because that's definitely not the case.

The important thing to do is to find out who's running in your constituency and what they stand for! Persuade your friends to do the same! Ignorance of how the system over here works is the reason we haven't had the leaders we deserve for last 2 decades!

Not that I have any right to tell you who to vote for. By all means, vote Labour or Tory if you want another 5 years of crappy economy and kowtowing to the Yanks. (I mean, both they're slogans are effectively "Change". It worked for Obama because he's cool, Brown and Cameron are not cool. They are to cool what a penguin is to Alpha Predator-ism)

The biggest problem I have with the Lib Dems is that they have a rather pathetic leader. Charles Kennedy was a dude, but even though I support the Lib Dems (and will be voting for them) I couldn't pick their leader out of line up. I do like their policies more then Labours and the Conservatives though and so will vote for them.

Something that always confuses me is how lots of people seem to say "I'd for Lib Dem, but they won't get in so why bother?" 1/2 the time I'd bet that if everyone who thought that voted Lib Dem, they'd get in.

Quick edit: Google ads have started putting Lib Dem adverts on my Escapist since this morning. Anyone else seen this?

I really do not know much about politics but I don't think the other parties would have produced better results then Labour have this year. I still trust LAbour.... well I don't, I don't trust any of them but I trust LAbour above the rest. I think it was wrong that Brown was automatically appointed Priminister when Blair stepped down but I think after being thrown into a shitty situation he came out smelling kind of good. Also Cameron scares me. The guy I'm really not voting for is him. I could probably throw him pretty far, so I'll say I trust him as much as I can see him right now. Which is not at all.

I will be voting Lib Dem I expect. Mainly due to the fact that is no Labour candidate in our area and it has been run by David Heath incredibily well and he is a brilliant MP.

I would vote labour but it would be wasted in my area and voting Lib Dem would be the best way to keep a Labour government. Also the Lib Dems are a close second to Labour in my party preference anyway.

The idea of a conservative government with ridiculous policies, of which the majority of good ones are financially unsound, and a desire for senior members to try and hide their right-wing origins has done enough for me to know that a conservative government will not be the right goverment. Unfortunatly a large amount of people who will not benefit from a Tory government will vote that way as a knee jerk reaction to "get Brown out". Unfortuantly it is unlikely that the country would have done any better going into the recession and we certainly wouldn't have been out of it as quickly with a Tory leadership.

I can sum this up by I can't financially afford a Tory governemnt.

I don't know who to vote for but at the moment I would vote Green party, not because I see them as the best party or want them to get into power, but I hope that a real party that does get into power will at least acknowledge a support in Green party translates as meaning their constituents want more environmentally friendly decisions made.

Also I would never vote for the Monster-raving-loony-party due to that fact that one of their policies is to stand down as soon as elected (if I remember AS-politics correctly) so that's a wasted vote right there.

Edit: It appears that this next election is not about the conservative/lib dems winning but about labour loosing...

Looking at the pictures in post 86 I can't help but "A future fair for all" has some really dodgy syntax in it. I can't help but picture there being dodg'ems and a ferris wheel in my future rather than Labour government.

This, probably.

There really is no such thing as a wasted vote. Especially given how potentially close we are to a hung parliament. I pretty much want to vote whichever way would help that happen the most. Seeing PR forced on everyone would be pretty fun to watch. Heh.
