im gunna miss the vote by bout 6 months
i would vote for lib dems tho.

they wont get in, but im hoping as recent polls suggest a gap of 2! so this means itll be close(probly as no one likes brown or cameron) so i think with a thin majority or a hung parliament lib dems will have a bigger say, as they can bargain with the torys.

also if it was up to lib dems i could vote and my vote would matter as itlld be represented fairly.

also people dont join lib dem for power but for their believes and i think they will care more about what they do.

we could use a poll.

As ever, Lib Dems in the nationals, Greens in the locals.
This, probably.

There really is no such thing as a wasted vote. Especially given how potentially close we are to a hung parliament. I pretty much want to vote whichever way would help that happen the most. Seeing PR forced on everyone would be pretty fun to watch. Heh.
Aye, I'd love that. Unfortunately, I shan't be voting, since I forgot to register with my local council, having lived away from home for three years and voting up in Yorkshire, then moving almost immediately out to Russia after the summer. I might ask at the British Consulate if they can postal-vote me, though.

I prefer the Lib Dems but I know they'll never win, I don't want the Conservatives to get in so I'm going to vote labour.
Basically I view my vote as a form of damage control.
Exactly my thoughts. I like the Lib Dems and Nick Cleggs ideas and policy direction the most, but living in Surrey, Hell'll freeze over before they do well in the area. Stuff the Tories- don't believe a word that Section 28 voting moron says. Go back to Eton!

But, for me, Socialist Worker's Party until Labour slide back to the left.
I apologise for the following.

Guessing you're not of a lefty perspective?
When you read as much Friedman, Nietzsche and Rand as I do, you generally are not of the left.
Don't forget Mein Kampf. :L
But yeah, guess so...

Ah well.

not going to vote for anyone as the 3 main parites are pretty much carbon copies, with the conservatives occasionaly adding a fuck the poor section onto their promises, labour being weighed down by them being the only party whose ineptitude we can see in action and the lib dems being basically labour with no chance of winning.

People who want to vote for the party that wishes to imprison people for 42 days (originally wanted 90) with no charge make me fear for our country... We're talking absolutely no charge. They could arrest you saying "we think you're making a bomb" and then after 42 days let you go saying "Sorry, we were probably wrong! Hope that month and a bit of your life was going to be boring anyway!".

The major parties are all in central politics, but none get the evil angle as perfect as New Labour (Ingsoc) do. Just look at Lord Mandleson!

Who is planning to vote? And if so, who for and why?

I am going to vote for the labour party, because despite all their faults (of which there is many) I sincerely believe they have the best interests of the country at heart unlike say the Conservatives who seek only to line their already full pockets.
Well, then I must show you this complementery video, my good man!

That is all.

I agree. I will probably end up voting Labour since I don't trust the Lib Dems already planning a coalition with either the Tories or Labour and I don't trust the Conservatives are capable of performing with the current shadow cabinet. Although, the Labour policy I support the most (other than broadband :p) is their EU policy which I believe to be crucial for future prosperity for the UK as well as the pooled diplomatic power offered by such a union.

Tories will privatise EVERYTHING, not that margaret thatcher didn't give people a backbone, the welfare state does need looking at, but I owe the NHS my well being AND me Education costs.
Working in criminal justice I can tell you Labour are privatising an awful lot. All of our building management used to be in house. We would higher our own cleaner, maintainence man and fix things as they broke. Now we have a facilities contract with a private company and it takes months to get anything done, costs far more than if we'd sorted it ourselves and creates tonnes of paper work stopping me doing my job. Likewise all of the state prisons are looking over their shoulder waiting for outside agencies to make bids to take over.

How can people believe that privatisation will save money when a private company has to make a profit, unlike the state. They tend to run everything on a bare minimum and still charge a fortune.

You might not notice as they call it contestability now instead of privatisation. There is very little difference between the parties now, they are all in centre and propose similar things. The highlight of the recession? The ID cards scheme has disappeared.

The Conservatives will make deeper cuts in public spending than labour, who will still be making cuts. The Lib Dems say that neither party is making substantial enough cuts. They can say what they want as they will never get in.

I'm pissed off that, as a public sector worker, Im facing a pay freeze due to the economy. The private sector has caused this mess and now I will be paying for it. During the boom I had years of raises below the rate of inflation to "keep inflation under control" while private sector workers saw big raises and bonuses. Now things are bad instead of my flat 2% Im getting sweet FA. The system stinks. I dont share in the good times but I still get kicked in the teeth when its bad. As soon as things pick up Im jumping ship to the private sector.

I'm tactical voting here.

Lib Dem.

My constituency is usually a 40,35,20 CON,LIB DEM, LAB. Our conservative candidate is Oliver Letwin. Not in a thousand years, son.
Either that or going green. (It's not a wasted vote, it shows that you have green issues at heart, and whichever prick gets in should bear that in mind if he want to re-elected)

Country
UK
I'll vote lib Dem. They usually get in around where I live and they deserve a chance to fuck things up like all the other parties.
The labour party is just falling apart and can't run the country, just like the Tories in the easrly 90's so I won't vote for them.
No way in hell I'd ever vote Tory. They got into power a year after I was born and then ruled until I was old emough to vote. I was pleased that my first ever vote helped to oust Michael Portillo.

British political society, plus other factors, means that the populace prefers moderate parties compared to anything too much on either wing (though Thatcher was an exception).

But nowadays, since Tony "Smiles" Blair, a man who didn't care about his affiliation so long as he became Prime Minister, or so I heard, helped the Third Way achieve power, we now have a choice of parties in the two-party dominant system we have that are basically the same, though perhaps with a few vested interests in specialist policies as opposed to the other.

Everyone basically made a mad scrum for the centre, and found the others there too, and aren't going to change in case they lose the crucial vote.

In the end, I don't think I'll ever vote, ever in British politics, because of my complete apathy for each candidate.

The Conservative Party themselves became less fond of Portillo. He was the favourite to become the head of the party at one point after Hague's resignation, but the fact he experimented homosexually and was quite liberal for a Conservative didn't go down well with many of them, and of course the press, plus the fact he had Kenneth Clarke to contend with, and Iain Duncan Smith (the Thatcherite choice).

Well, he lost at any rate, and Iain made it in, which quite possibly damaged the party more (the fact he was technically useless didn't help either - and he was born on my birthday annoyingly enough).

I ain't voting for any one this year. Then at least I can say I had no part in fucking up the country.

Though I am tempted to vote for at least one party just so the BNP get one more vote against them by a Yorkshire man. I think I'll just have to re-look at the policies and see which is the lesser evil out of them all.

MHowever having seen how badly the SWP did in the European elections a while back (I live in the Yorkshire area and as such have a BNP representing me in Europe, a thought which still makes me want to vomit with rage) I may just go for Labour.
I feel your pain. Doesn't say much for us Yorkshire lads/lasses, being represented by the Ku-Klux-Klan and all. I'd wouldn't be surprised if the whole world thought we were all a bunch of racists living here.

Not a voter and never have been. Just can't be assed really.

If i did though, it will be for the Monster Raving Loony Party. I think one of there pledges is to introduce a 99p coin. Which will come in handy. No more loose change for me!.
