Who is planning to vote? And if so, who for and why?

I am going to vote for the labour party, because despite all their faults (of which there is many) I sincerely believe they have the best interests of the country at heart unlike say the Conservatives who seek only to line their already full pockets.

It's starting to look like a little cross in the Monster Raving Looney Party's column is the best use of my vote. Whilst I prefer Brown's Labour to Cameron's Tories, it's like picking Chlamydia over Malaria. And the Lib Dems got rid of Charles Kennedy (old news, I know), so they're obviously committed to not wanting me to vote for them. And as for UKIP, the Greens and the BNP, even though they claim to have policies and the like, I can't help but think of them as one-trick ponies.

So whilst I'm planning to vote, it may come down to jabbing a finger down on the ballot with my eyes closed, and voting for who ever is nearest (and isn't the BNP).

The politicians here are so disconnected from what the voters want it's actually quite saddening. I turn 19 this year, I was too young to vote last election, so this one will be my first. I did Politics as AS level for a year at college but feel like I gained no political knowledge from it.

I feel quite choked, regarding what I can vote for. From here, it looks like my options are;
Vote Labour or Conservative - Nothing changes, since they're practically interchangeable with each other.
Vote Lib Dem - For what purpose? They would never get enough votes to make a difference. I know they (at least used to) plan to remove a lot of University fees though, which was a nice thought.
Vote BNP - The racists, but arguably the only party who would change the country in any notable way. Whether it's good or bad change, I don't care, I just want change. As long as they don't fuck with the health care.
Vote UKIP/Green/other small parties - A wasted vote. You wouldn't bet on an infant to win in a boxing match with Mike Tyson, would you?

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. I kinda hope I am. British politics depresses me. The people who are supposed to be looking out for us are only looking out for themselves.

I'll be voting Tory, or I would if I was old enough (damn that 1 year out). Simply because they are most in-line with what i believe, and Labour seriously need 4 years to get a new leader (probably one of the Milliband's) and some fresh talent.

But the general consesus at the moment seems to be on a hung parliment with minor lead for Conservative's, so they'll probably team up with the Lib Dems and 8 months down the line it'll all happen again, which could be interesting.

Labour, purely to prevent the Tories from getting in and fucking up the country even worse than the current centrist sellouts. Given the choice between a bunch of hooting idiots on one hand (labour) and a bunch of Evil hooting idiots on the other (Tories) I'll take the non evil idiots.

Bring on multiple choice votes, lets hope we can get a non big party lead government at some point in the next decade.

Still waiting for someone to provide an actual manifesto so I can judge their (professed) policies objectively... then probably vote for the Tories because I hate them (very, VERY slightly) less.

Pretty much come to the conclusion myself that if you're not with the average vote for your area, any vote is a wasted vote. Which is depressing in and of itself.

If I were Old enough(even worse than cuzant only 6 months), i would probably vote Labour, or Lib Dems. The Tories havent done enough in terms of policies to get my (theoretical) vote.
Also Cameron appears to believe that he can win the election based on the simple fact he isn't Gordon Brown, and when he does appear its all PR and spin.
(appearing without a written speech in order to get closer to the british people isn't endearing, it just makes him look flashy and arrogant.)

I'm voting for Labour. Lib-Dems, Greens, SNP etc. will never make an impact in Westminster and with the current system, its almost a wasted vote. Particularly when the Clegg has said the Lib Dems won't join a coalition. And the day I vote for the Tories is the day I fall on my sword.

[sub][sub][sub]And I rather like Gordon Brown. So sue me[/sub][/sub][/sub]

Lib Dem. My local area is a two horse race, tories don't have a chance and I won't let Labour think that they have any sort of mandate from me - they are a bunch of lying, conniving, jobs for the boys bastards and I would not piss on Brown if he was on fire.

Wait, Brownie's actually called it? As far as I remember he's postponed this since day one.

But, for me, Socialist Worker's Party until Labour slide back to the left.

I prefer the Lib Dems but I know they'll never win, I don't want the Conservatives to get in so I'm going to vote labour.
Basically I view my vote as a form of damage control.

I think I'm going to excericse my democratic right to not vote, I dont trust any of them really.

Though I'm waiting for the army to seize parliament and take over things, though thats more than likely just a weird dream I had once

You Know you're right; Labour really seem to be fucking up our country, however I'll still choose them over the tories for one simple reason... the NHS, its flawed yes, its been bankrupt since it was founded, yes...however i can rest easy knowing that when I have paramedics come to me rescue the first question i'm asked is "are you ok" and not "Do you have your credit card on you"
Tories will privatise EVERYTHING, not that margaret thatcher didn't give people a backbone, the welfare state does need looking at, but I owe the NHS my well being AND me Education costs.

Wow, that was longer than i intended XD.

I'll vote Labour (too young, I'll be ready next time)

I absaloutely abhor the Tories and their ways. They seem to critisise everyone else and offer nothing in return. They have yet to announce single stance or policy beyond "Better than the current situation", which is probably a lie in itself.

And Cameron's a horrible man. I hate Osbourne the most, though. He is the only politician (I'd include the BNP, but calling them politicians just encourages them) I actually cannot look at on telly without snarling.

I feel kinda bad for bumbling ol' Brown. It seems to me that Blair gave him the wheel and jumped on the last lifeboat whilst calling "Remember, Gordon, the captain always stays with the sinking ship!" and then New Labour began to sink into the ocean of failure, with Gordon getting blamed by all the people still on board

Tory, Mark Harper (my local MP) is a decent, honest bloke and actually helps our constituency. Ingsoc... sorry Big Brother... sorry New Labor has been in power for too long, it's a tired government that needs a rest. I predict a hung parliament followed by a by-election soon after with probably a Tory victory.

I noticed someone referred to the Conservatives as Evil... Have they ever seen/heard/had an unforgivable curse cast on them by Lord Volder- Lord Mandleson...? He is purest evil, and is essentially Brown's puppet-master >.<

You know they have exactly the same policies, right? It's also kind of daft to accuse the Tories of only seeking to line their pockets after the expenses scandal which hit the Labour party considerably harder than either of the other parties. I don't like the Tories and I won't vote of them, but it seems that a lot of people still think the Tory party has the same policies they had in the 70s/80s which is unfair. But actually, if you work that basis, you would have to argue that Labour are traditionally the more socialist party and as such would want to tax you higher and "line their pockets" with taxpayer money.

But these days, both Labour and Conservative tend to be right of centre while the Lib Dems are slightly to the left of centre. The main two parties are pretty much exactly the same, except the Tories want to tax the super-rich which I have no problem with. They want to put that money into the NHS which sounds like a great plan. Still not voting for them though.

I'm voting Lib Dem. They won't get in, but the closer we can get to having a true third party system, the closer we'll be to having a greater challenge to the party in power. That, and they've done a fantastic job in my local area and they have some good policies to challenge with.

Not my place to say much cuz I'm from a land just to the west... Still well said that, BUT not voting for either may lead to the worse of two evils being empowered. (Although I'm never sure if elections are just voting for State Avatars)

Me too although we might be waiting a while. However having seen how badly the SWP did in the European elections a while back (I live in the Yorkshire area and as such have a BNP representing me in Europe, a thought which still makes me want to vomit with rage) I may just go for Labour. The idea they might actually bring in some form of electoral reform fills me with hope... and then I remember they've been promising to do this for 13 years now.

The other option is to take up Mark Thomas' idea and to draw your own box and write "I do not have faith in any of the candidates" and put a cross in that one. If you're sick of 2 main parties being pretty much interchangable it's an option and a more positive one than just not voting at all.
