Well, I always used to see games as simple time-wasters, like Solitaire. The first game that ever grabbed my interest and seemed like something more than that was Riven. I watched my parents play it, and then I played it myself. This was in 1997, when I was 10 or 11, and it's what made me love good games like I love good books and movies.
Then in early 2006, my ex got me started playing Final Fantasy XI. This is the game that made me start signing up and posting on gaming forums, spending many hours a day gaming and thinking about games, and actively looking for current and upcoming games that I might be interested in.
So I guess one of those two.
