Fable 1. Not even the Lost Chapters version, but the original xbox version. That or Abe's Oddysee. That was probably the first game I played, but Fable got me into gaming properly, especially RPgs.

I don't know what game it was but the earliest games I remeber were either on the c64, ahh the good old days where would where it would take 1/2 an hour to an hour to load a game, or a nintendo game watch.

This is the 1st game I remember owning
My friend owned this Game & Watch. I remember going on a trip with his family and all I did was ignore them and play that for hours. Your real name is not Eddie is it? That would be funny.

When it was time for my family holidays I just played this -

And it's not just a calculator, there's an actual game on it where you have to match the numbers and symbols before they hit the end of the screen. Cutting edge stuff.

The First Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis this game also makes me very very sad to see where the series is right now seeing how I grew up with it.

Top Hat Willy. You people would laugh if you'd heard of it. It was an IBM Amega game (though there's an MSDOS version as well).
And the first game that got me into modding - because I can remember that too - was the Happyland editor, "Mapped". No kidding.

Age of Empires 1.
But actual full on gaming? I'd have to say either Counterstrike: Source or Half-Life 2.

Haha, I was about seven when I picked up "M&M's: The Lost Formula." It was the best game EVER! :D

Actually, in retrospect, the game was quite good. It had solid platforming elements and was challenging enough to be interesting. It had a math function (like every game for mac), but didn't detract from the experience. The cutscenes were genuinely funny, and there were enough easter eggs to keep me playing. The levels were also really varied and the aesthetic design was top-notch. Hmmm. Cool.

Duke Nukem 3D set me along the path, but GTA 3 really cemented the hobby for me and then I took off on Earthworm Jim and Pokemon from there and the rest is history.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron and Banjo Kazooie, first games i remember owning on N64, absolutely classic games. I can still play them and have as much fun as I ever had.

Dragon Warrior for NES. It was just such a MASSIVE step up from the games we'd been playing on our Atari 800 and pretty much cemented my love for RPGs forever.

Hmm...
First Game: Super Mario Bros. for the NES
I figure that my discovery of this game at around 3 years old, and the next two to three years I spent learning how to operate the NES were what got me started. That's only half of it though.

Game that got me hooked: Star Wars X-Wing / Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith (Demo)
When I was 5-7 years old, I bugged my parents until they bought me a Star Wars collector's box set of games because it had TIE fighters on it and I wanted all the Star Wars I could find. We took it home, and I installed all the games on my windows 93 computer. Star Wars X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Dark Forces, XvT Flight School and demos of Dark Forces II and Mysteries of the Sith were included. These were my first real taste of gaming, and I played these until something like 2003. Unfortunately, flight sims died well before I was ever old enough to buy any of them, so my skill and love for flying X-Wings goes unrequited. I've found numerous small mods and short indie games, but nothing matches a full release of a new X-Wing game.

I am a gamer today largely because games and Star Wars collided in the 90s, and I hold out hope that someday LucasArts will stop making those horrible Force Unleashed games and release more BattleFront games on consoles and PC. Or that they'll add another entry to the X-Wing or Jedi Knight series, whichever comes first.

Super Mario All-stars on the SNES, it was the first game I played and the first I couldn't set down.
