Come on America if you're going to go to war then atleast learn to pronounce the place your going to attack, because I have to admit I've never heard of a place called Eye Rack.

The correct pronunciation is ee-rock/ih-rock.

When tensions start to rise with Iran because of their nuclear program it might be helpful to learn it's called ih-ran as well.

Through all the news coverage this is what I kept hearing.

What's this war on 'terroism' you speak of?

As long as there's charred corpses of brown people that don't speak English, I'm sure the American people won't mind in the least that we pronounced their recently-dead civilization wrong.

If we wanna get really specific/as close to the actual pronounciation (Note pronounciations differ greatly in the Middle East)

ee-rawrk(or raawrk)

ee-rahn

This is mostly a reqeus because of the butchering I've seen done to an easy word-

Lebanon

Leb-a-non got it? It's not that freaking hard!

Or the arabic sounding: lub(like lub in lube)-nahn

I have been severely ninja'd.
I'll add that Afghanistan has an accent on the last "a", not the second one.
Also: Ar-hen-tih-na, Par-ag-why, Ur-ug-why and Chi-leh. Chili is food.

Mistake one: You assume all of America does whatever you're talking about. You are instantly wrong.
if you're going to go to war then atleast learn to pronounce the place your going to attack, because I have to admit I've never heard of a place called Eye Rack.
You seem to assume all of America is attacking Iraq. You are once again, wrong. And you made a typo.
The correct pronunciation is ee-rock/ih-rock.
Okay, thanks for telling me what I already knew.
When tensions start to rise with Iran because of their nuclear program it might be helpful to learn it's called ih-ran as well.
Okay, thanks for telling me what I already knew.

And you made the mistake of forgetting that people in positions of power (Politicians, news casters, etc,) are all stupid.
Where did I say I wanted you to do what I said? I was making a persuasive arguement you don't tell someone to do something by saying "come on".

The typo is on purpose.

Already knew it? I'm glad you're so well informed lol.

ee-rack is more like it. never heard anyone pronounce it ih-rock. so the real pronunciation, if there is such a thing, is between what you said, and what the Americans say.
one of the American pronunciations that bug me is the way they say pedophile. it's Paedophile!

This needed to be said. ^

No offense, but it seems like a bit of trolling is going on.

Not all Americans are the same; I would bet that the Americans one meets on the Escapist are probably more educated than the blue collar rednecks the world makes us out to be- in the same way that not all Australians are like Crocodile Dundee or Steve Irwin, or in the way that not all Irishmen are boozehounds.

Fun fact, there actually is a "cow" in "Moscow", listen carefully next time you hear a news anchor try to pronounce it.

I've never said Eye Rack

I normally say Eh-Rack. And what difference does it make how you pronounce something?

People from Deutschland really don't give a damn when the rest of the world says Germany, right?

There are idiots all over the world that pronounce nuclear as "nu-ku-lar". I'm an American, and I pronounce Iraq as "Ee-rock", Iran as "Ee-rahn" Arab as "Air-rahb" Nuclear as "New-clee-ar". You need to stop being a douche bag, pronounced "doosh-bag" and realize not all Americans are idiots, and we know the names of the countries we're invading. And honestly, when the whole country is a smoldering cauldron of religious, political and idealogical division, coupled with suicide bombers and mortar shells, who the hell aside from distanced first world country citizens are going to split hairs about it? I doubt the guy in Iraq who just lost his son to a suicide bomber is sitting around being pissed about how Americans pronounce Iraq. Really you just make me sick, splitting hairs about pronunciation when you could be using your time doing something constructive. Piss off.

The correct British pronounciation is closer to "Mosque-oh" than the German and American way - "Moss-cow". :-/
