melody of oblivion.
my god that anime is just so fucked up.
I hated that one, it just seemed like it was seeking refuge in fanservice at some point, especially with that girl who had the uber-mark-of-power on her inner thigh, which made it look like she was pleasing herself whenever she powered up her arrows. Another part that I simply found stupid was when they were applying that gel onto themselves so that they could fight in space, and how the anthropomorphic motorcycles transformed when their riders sat on them in human form and spanked them.
Then, while fighting the space battle, it is announced that the organized resistance of bad-ass heroes who had never even been shown or significantly hinted at existing, are completely wiped out by a massive explosion at a special meeting. It all spoke of a massive lack of effort by the team that made it. Trying to have a crazy psychological experience with weird shit going on, combined with fanservice and a serious story does not work, but simply changing the story to be equally insane, weird, and in no way serious can make for a good ride. Now I need to actually find and buy a DVD of Dead Leaves, because that stuff is worth supporting.
